NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre gets an unexpected grilling on Fox news. Is no place safe for the head gun nut anymore?

Courtesy of Business Insider:

 Here's the most contentious exchange:

LAPIERRE: The President's kids are safe, and we're all thankful for that.

WALLACE: They also face a threat that most people do not face.

LAPIERRE: Tell that to the people in Newtown! Tell that to the people in Newtown.

WALLACE: Do you really think that the President's children are the same kind of target as every schoolchild in America? I think that's ridiculous, and you know it, sir.

Wallace pressed LaPierre on whether he believes every schoolchild is entitled to armed protection. He also challenged the NRA chief on the gaps in that theory: How they're not protected at the movie theater, the mall, and other places after they leave school.

LaPierre stumbled, saying, "Which is why we need to do everything else I'm talking about."

The last contentious exchange came when Wallace disputed LaPierre's logic that only "elite, out of touch" politicians have armed protection next to them. Wallace pointed out that LaPierre also traveled with armed guards to his appearance on "Fox News Sunday."

"Does that make you an elite, and out-of-touch elite, because you have security?" Wallace said.

Wow! You know if you can't even expect soft ball questions at Fox News, that is when you KNOW the country has turned against you on this issue.

My hat is off to Chris Wallace for holding this douchebag's feet to the fire.

With all due respect to you, UK Lady, how the HELL would Rupert Murdoch know THAT? Even the American population and the various branches of our government haven't agreed on that point!!!!!!!

There are a lot of OPINIONS, but nothing settled.

BTW, I am NOT trying, in any way, to defend that POS named LaPierre! He is a radical fanatic and dangerous in my book!

      UK Lady and Leland:

For once, I agree with the man who has read Ian Flemings and made the Bond 007 fictions his own. He seems to have lived the life of the villain who rules from the shadows in that he surmounted his humble beginnings in Australia to become an international producer of sleazy news and base opinion.

He is an authoritarian who orders his minions to delve deeply into the Fight-or-Flight instincts of his readers in order to amass ever more power in ever more countries.

Seems that before Murdoch purchased US citizenship he nevertheless read the constitution. I find this interesting.

Is he now, at this late stage of his existence concerned about his image as it will be portrayed in history? I wonder.

Hell, I'm not defending Rupert effing Murdoch, just saying that he OWNS Chris Wallace.

If La Pierre had done his homework he might have realised Murdoch is pro gun legislation is all and not have been sideswiped.

Super Bowl Is Single Largest Human Trafficking Incident In U.S.

When it came time for the Super Bowl, Clemmie Greenlee was expected to sleep with anywhere from 25 to 50 men a day. It’s a staggering figure, but it doesn’t shock advocates who say that the sporting event attracts more traffickers than any other in the U.S.

"The Super Bowl is the greatest show on Earth, but it also has an ugly underbelly," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told USA Today in 2011 when his state was gearing up to host the event. "It's commonly known as the single largest human trafficking incident in the United States."

The influx of fans fosters the optimal breeding ground for pimps looking to boost their profits. Experts say that the sheer number of men looking to pay for sex substantially increases demand and the massive crowds allow for pimps and victims to essentially go unnoticed, newsnet5.com reports.

"It's not so much that you become a victim at the Super Bowl, but that many victims are brought in to be used for all the men at the Super Bowl," Stephanie Kilper, a representative for Operation Freedom Taskforce in Akron, Ohio -- an organization which aims to end to human trafficking –- told newsnet5.com

According to Forbes, 10,000 prostitutes were brought to Miami for the Super Bowl in 2010 and 133 underage arrests for prostitution were made in Dallas during the 2011 Super Bowl.

Greenlee, a former sex trafficking victim who was abducted and raped by her captors at 12, told the Times-Picayune that she was shuttled around cities in the South to work as a prostitute at large-scale events. The 53-year-old, who now works as an advocate for sex trafficking victims in Louisiana, said there was immense pressure to meet her traffickers’ demands at events like the Super Bowl.

"If you don't make that number (of sex customers), you're going to dearly, dearly, severely pay for it," Greenlee told the Times-Picayune."I mean with beatings, I mean with over and over rapings. With just straight torture. The worst torture they put on you is when they make you watch the other girl get tortured because of your mistake."

As of Friday, five women were rescued and eight human-trafficking related arrests were made in New Orleans, according to FOX 8.

Tea Party’s Anti-Social Social Network Launches, Then Gets Hacked

What is it with Conservatives and their need to fortify their paranoia and distrust of American social media, by, shall we say, “taking liberties” with other peoples’ shit?

A “new” social network, started by a group called, Tea Party Community, looks an awful lot like Facebook, only with much more Old English lettering to appeal to the masses of Colonial America:

    Did you know this Gryphen?

In his final legislative act as a senator, Secretary of State John F. Kerry sought to resolve an international dilemma. He filed Senate Bill 48, seeking “permanent resident status for Genesio Januario Oliveira,” a gay Brazilian national facing deportation because he does not qualify for a spousal visa.

Now, President Obama is aiming to grant same-sex couples such as Oliveira and his American husband, Tim Coco, equal immigration rights as their heterosexual counterparts. The proposal could allow up to 40,000 foreign nationals in same-sex relationships to apply for legal residency and, potentially, U.S. citizenship.

But the measure has inspired fierce pushback from congressional Republicans and some religious groups, who say it could sink hopes for a comprehensive agreement aimed at providing a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants.

The standoff may force Obama to choose between two key interest groups — Hispanics and gays — that helped power his reelection in the fall. The president must weigh how forcefully to push the bill, known as the Uniting American Families Act, while not endangering a long-sought deal to resolve the status of undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Latino.

    Man oh man...

To compare the presidents daughters to every other child in the county who are also school age is absolutely ridiculous.

Obama is the most threaded president in history, and by extension, so is his family.

Every parent and every child should be safe as they receive an education, however, I'm fairly certain that parents all across the country understand that the children of our president, of ANY president, needs that extra security and protection from the secret service because, as the children of president obama, some crazy person would target the Obama girls to get whatever sick and twisted politically charged point across.

Every child of every president has been heavily guarded while their father sat as president, why are they causing such a huge fuss about it now?

    1. Why? Because he is black, and an illegitimate 'king' who wants to take away their precious phallic symbols. The Obama girls and Michelle have been target since the campaign in 2008. The right cannot grasp that this man and his beautiful, loving family, is the antithesis of them...they who claim to be for the family, but are so often, divorced, running around on their spouses, cheating the government, lying, and all while proclaiming "Jesus is Lord! God bless America!," guns raised. And they are truly puzzled as to how this 'commie, Muslim, Nigerian, fascist, white-hating, arrogant ugly " N***** managed to beat them twice. If they weren't so dangerous to this nation's freedoms, I would have to laugh.

Sue: I absolutely agree!! It amazes me the RW preach about family values, loving families, etc. etc. and can't see beyond the color of the Obama's skin. That family is everything they tout as family, and they can't see it.

The ironic thing about it is that LaPierre will turn out to be right about any changes to the gun problem. Nothing other than increased security around the schools will change and that will be a good thing in the short term. Protecting the children always has to be the top priority.

But increased gun violence is not in LaPierre's best interest because it will only play against his cause. While increased gun violence 'is' in the interest of those who oppose guns because it will add to their claims and their case against guns. Funny thing isn't it, that the tables could be turned so easily. And surely nobody here can doubt it when so many are expressing their wishes for more violence with guns!

We're still waiting to see if that anti-government paranoiac will be persuaded to let the little boy go and come out of his bunker. People have begun to keep active track of all the shootings.

Another completely overlooked aspect of Wayne Loppi Ears protection of the gunshow loophole is that he has announced to every Terrorist , Gangbanger and Mentally ill person in the country that they can go to these gunshows and get the weapons they need to wage carnage on every unsuspecting innocent person in America, As someone who has lost a loved one to gun violence I want to say thank you very much Wayne thanks alot !

Gun violence is not in Wayne's best interest at the moment. It's only going to be used against him and his NRA. But it is in the best interest of people like you who want to see more violence in order to make your case.

And it's all for naught anyway because nothing more than putting more armed guards around schools will happen. It's over folks and it's been a totally wasted effort. Biden as much as said so today.
