Lawrence Krauss is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist who has written several books on physics and is currently a professor at Arizona State university.
Of course he really does not need nearly that many credentials to understand the truth of what he is saying in that video.
If we continue to raise our children surrounded by superstitions, and allow that to interfere with their access to knowledge, we are essentially dooming future generations to ignorance and undermining America's chances of holding a position of power in the world.
Unfortunately, Gryphen, you are preaching to the choir here. It is not WE who need to know this, it is the ignorant Xtians. And as long as there are those in government who refuse to stand up and say "ENOUGH!!!!!" and/or those who actually promulgate that same crap about 6000 years and creationist "theory", we will have this situation.

ReplyDeleteI have watched several of these Big Think videos and they are quite frightening. Never mind the "Big Think" logo that immediatly puts me in mind of George Orwell. Equating religion to child abuse is reckless. I have seen many abused children from homes with no religious beliefs whatsoever. Some of those examples would just break your heart. I am well aware that history is full of religious/state abuse. Science/state has a record of abuses too. Forced sterilization for example. I do think that science can become just as oppressive as any religion when it is used to drive government policy. I think we should always have the freedom to follow knowledge and faith.

They don't give a Shit whether there is an iota of fact behind their nonsense. God, and his son, jesus and his mistress, mary all hate Gays, why? Somewhere in some book, in the twisted verse of some chapter in either the olt, or new testament, God picked up a pen and Wrote it down.
