Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Ed Shultz interviews Zerlina Maxwell who received death threats after daring to suggest that men be taught not to rape on Fox News.
I've been wondering this for months now. Why, in all the GOP legislation regarding women's reproduction, are MEN never mentioned? It still takes a sperm, guys. Or a million. Why are the men never to pay for the vaginal probe, or pay for medical care of the mother? Why are there not bills demanding that MEN are equally responsible for this embryo? But no, it is the woman who enticed him, tricked him, wouldn't keep that damned aspirin between ehr knees. But there's no war on women...more like genocide.
Good questions, Sally. Men are on the hook for the child support but I say why not an anal probe to remind them that it's also their responsibility for birth control? But you're right, all of it falls on the women because it's mostly all men voting for these laws.
Because all women are sluts according to the GOP . I'm a slut, and you're a slut. The GOP men are just innocent bystanders while we women desecrate the GOP men with our wicked wiles.
And film the probe with a camera and make them look at it, too, just so they can be fully informed. You know, I say "them", but I guess I mean "us". Although I take care of my own business and respect women's rights to choice and privacy, I can only imagine how pissed I'd be to have to go through a needless procedure (and have my insurance pay if it's covered) because of a bunch on wing-nut assholes in the GOP that have decided to practice medicine when they failed biology, chemistry and think physics is voodoo.
The question was asked: Where is the hate coming from?
I am NOT talking about the rape question here, although to some extent they are intertwined. I am talking strictly to the hate question. And I am going to limit myself to the American side of this question since that is basically what the video was talking about: the hatred by the ultra right wingers who perpetrated the hate mail and the threats against Zerlina.
I actually fault the suppression and female-blaming that is pervasive in the three middle-eastern monotheistic religions. Too many of the Xtians today (as one example) want to grind women under their heels and lock them back in the home where they would be kept barefoot and pregnant. They seem to want to have complete control over their female slaves.
And for some reason it is those idiots that seem to have the loudest mouths and the greatest access to Faux News and the other trash news organizations. Heck, they even make the other media as well.
They want women ignorant and controlled.
And Zerlina is right. Rape is NOT the woman's fault! PERIOD.
I like what you say! thanks! I also go back to the question of where does the hate come from, and I must say, I don't get it. Not even female repressive society doesn't explain the reactions spewed onto Zerlina. Until we can understand it, I fear the anger will persist.
O/T sort of... Ed Shultz just reported about the tweet from Sarah on the NYC soda ban being overturned. I was just thinking about how great it was that the media has not reported anything she has tweeted for a long time. I guess the I thought too soon. Ugh!!!
funny how many comments about Palin leak into this very important issue of RAPE! Are we so nervous about the subject, or the admirable women talking about it, or even Ed's respectful interview, that we must inject Palin into the comment section? It's almost as if Zerlina is right.....we need to degrade women in our culture. I despise SP, but that's not the subject here. The subject is female empowerment and self-worth. It is about teaching ourselves; men and women; what is right and good and real. It is not about what SP said about the NYC soda ban, for gosh sakes
Umm, let me see is Zerlina Maxwell the Rosa Parks of the 21st Century?? Telling white men that they can't be the boss of everything?? I feel like we are revisiting the Civil Rights era again, except all the issues revolve around women. How did we get here? It's 2013 for God's sake! And we have a wonderful black family in the White House. Amen.
Suddenly the most disparate morons feel that their opinion's are credibile. It's time for reason to rule the day, and the airwaves!! Let's move forward, let's do what it takes!! I'm seriously thinking of getting involved in politics. As a progressive woman democrat I want MY voice heard. It's time!! Let's take our country back!
I definitely think Zerlina was talking about all men, not just white men, and she spoke of women being in charge of themselves, which is different than saying that men can't "be the boss of everything". just saying....
I don't watch Ed's show too often, but I admire him a lot for tackling the subject so well. I remember he used a derogatory term toward a woman, then sincerely apologized and voluntarily took himself off the air for at least a few weeks. That speaks volumes of his integrity. Hannity may have been "civil", but why hasn't he spoken up for this woman, a guest on his show?
I'm so proud of this young lady and glad she's in the field of law. We need more Zerlina's willing to educate men and speak up on the issue of rape.

DeleteStupid Right-Wing Tweets: Sarah Palin Edition
ReplyDeleteEvery time she opens her mouth or tweets, it's worth reminding people that Republicans voted to put this dingbat in the White House.
Oh, and if you thought that they'd finally figured out by now that she's nothing but a two-bit grifter -- guess again.
PS.
The diabetes rates in Red States are exploding. So keep chugging those Big Gulps while you yuk it up with Sarah, wingnuts.
