Failed VP candidate Paul Ryan to introduce bill that would "repeal Obamacare," because apparently that worked so well for him during the election.

I know you're all with me on this right? I mean who needs Obamacare?
Courtesy of LA Times:

Republicans in Congress are renewing their political assault on the nation’s new healthcare law, trying to repeal President Obama's signature domestic achievement as part of the next battle over the federal budget.

Rep. Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, last year's Republican vice presidential nominee, said Sunday his forthcoming budget proposal will include repeal of "Obamacare," as his party calls it. That position puts tea-party conservatives at odds with others in the GOP who want to find common ground with Obama on the nation's fiscal woes after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the health law.

In the Senate, conservatives will press for a vote this week to delay funding for the health law as part of a bill that must pass to keep the government running beyond March 27.

"We say we get rid of 'Obamacare,' " Ryan said on "Fox News Sunday."

I swear these morons NEVER learn!

The American people want Obamacare and continuing to attack it simply demonstrates their refusal to accept that reality.

These tactics might work to help Republicans get reelected in solidly red districts, but surely they must realize that the demographics are changing all over the country, and that this kind of flailing around will be seen as a failure for the party nationally.

Pretty soon even solidly Republican states and districts are going to become disenchanted with the impotence of their elected officials and support for them and their party will wither away.

Which by the way is something we are watching happen already.

  1. If Ryan would awaken from his "Ayn Rand coma" he would know that hospitals and other medical facilities are competing for Medicare dollars. Obamacare isn't going away! Time has an article (Bitter Pill) which really spells out where our medical dollars are going and why. It is a great read (a little long but in-depth) and a real eye opener as to why the US has such a screwed up medical system with such poor outcomes.

You're too kind, but I agree that the guy is smart and knows the facts. But he isn't paid to represent the facts by his real bosses. This Congressman position is just his day job, and he doesn't give a rat's ass about the folks in his district or in America. He represents Koch Industries and its needs first and foremost.

      Plus, Ryan is a dork.

I don't have a clue why anyone would want to elect or reelect a Republican these days.

Ryan is an idiot and has no clue how well "Obamacare" is working for some already and will do even more good for people in 2014. Plus, the Supreme Court gave it the OK!

Put the names Romney and Ryan together and you get 'failures' big time!

The Congressional Republicans have passed over 30 bills trying to repeal Obamacare. Those bills will never pass the Senate, but that doesn't stop them from wasting time on a meaningless gesture.

Did I say meaningless? They use that meme for fund raising. There are scary ads on TV and frightening telephone calls warning of terrible things if you don't sign their petition and donate right now. Be afraid, be very afraid.

yup, over 30 bills trying to repeal the AHCA, and how many to create jobs? That would be ZERO, despite the 'jobs, jobs, jobs' mantra they lied themselves into office with in 2010

      Delete
    2. Anonymous8:54 AM

Unfortunately, the only jobs that are a priority right now and while Obama are their own, because they have already shown that they are going to blame any problems with the economy or anything else on Obama, and the GOP will listen and agree in enough numbers to give them political cover from being criticized as a do- nothing congress. At the present time, the biggest threat to those jobs are from the potential primary candidates to the right of them, so they are afraid to deviate on all of the most conservative viewpoints, which is not a great plan in the long run, but these guys are fighting for their own political survival individually first, then party, then the country, and the constituencies of the Dem Party are the last priority, Inness they feel that they can peel off some on that support, such as Latino votes.

I know we go around in cycles, we trend toward conservative because we think we are supposed to in the balance of all things, but such extreme fiscal conservationism that affects social programs never lasts. Newt Gingrich tried it with Welfare Reform, he was speaker for 4 years from 1995 to 1999 but was forced out by other congressional Republicans who thought he had become a political liability.

Just four years. And he was in the dog house for over a decade before testing the POTUS waters in 2012. America did not forget what a loathsome leader he was and Ryan is only a Gingrich, Jr.

Good points. In addition to the fact that Gingrich was such a condescending, arrogant bastard to his own party members in the process. He had achieved a little bit of success only because of the group whose ideas he promoted gave him the power. Newt forgot that the ultimate goal For the House Speaker was not in having the speakership and the trappings of the job. It was, or shoulve been, to get things done with the power his peers bestowed on him. Instead, his self-importance overtook his peeragenda his peers had for Newt, and thru ran him out of town.

Sadly, there is a segment of the population who will buy this bull, every time they shovel it up. They have been programmed well over the years by Rush and Fox, and think anything a Democrat wants to do will hurt them. The reality is of course, the opposite, but I have yet to see one of these angry stupid white folks change their minds. I mean, they even have women out there supporting vaginal probes and forced pregnancies of deformed fetuses, dead fetuses and fetuses who may kill their host.

It's awfully cynical of the House GOP leadership to give in to this nonsense and agree to continue on the attack on 'All things Obama". In the short run, as a tactic to keep the narrative on Obama and ACA which are both issues that they can all get behind one another and support, including the Libertarian wing of TP Republicans, "real" Libertarians (only) Rand Paul, at this point, IMO) and the GOPe, it will at least keep them "playing better together" on the GOP playground, but they are still not addressing any of the issues that lost seats in House and Senate in 2012. This has to be just a tactical plan to kill time do they won't be forced to talk about real issues that need to be addressed, the most important of which in the GOP are inter-party issues.

If the continued effort by the Koch Party is to primary 5 or 6 Senators and 25-30 House members, and to attempt to whip the others into shape as their 2014 objectives, the Dems could gain the house and come close to a filibuster-proof Senate for two years. If they could somehow get the voters out. I don't know if or how it can be done bc it's not an easy message to motivate poor and working people to come to the polls and vote for, especially with the winning % of all incumbent seat holders, so many people figure "What's the point?".

IMO, this is all time-killer stuff so they can stay on their attack.

Gryphen, if you would take just FIVE minutes to study up on your bible, you would understand what Ryan is trying to do for our once-awesome country.

It is written in Diplodocus 19:84 (allow me to paraphrase) that if god had wanted poor people to have good lives, he would have made them rich people.

Think about it. Poor, sick people are that way because it's God's will. Who are we to interfere with God's plan????

Now, you may ask, why do rich people get sick if they're loved so much more by God than poor people? And, of course, the answer is simple: Satan.

Science experts estimate that Satan spends a minimum of 75% of his time making rich people sick. And that is something even poor, sick people can recognize is just evil. Taking care of rich people is literally God's work. DAMN YOU, SATAN!!!

In conclusion, God loves everyone equally, but he loves rich people equally just a little bit more. (Have you seen the fine automobiles rich people drive?) Therefore, poor, sick people don't deserve health care while rich, sick people do.

And Paul Ryan is a douchebag, also, too.

As my dear, sweet, old, wise great, great, great, great, great grandmother, Rosanna Bandana Hosanna Conehead used to say when I was just a little bitty baby, "Beldar J Conehead", she would say as she shook me vigorously but lovingly by the shoulders, "always remember and never forget: if you cant say something nice about another person, you can't go wrong calling them a douchebag".

I'd like to think if she were still alive today - first she'd be shocked to be over 175 years old, but more importantly, I think she would call Paul Ryan a douchebag, too.

      Also.

I wouldn't be the crazy old man that I am today without the inspiration from Diplodocus. Diplo was the first to talk to chairs that talked back to only him, way back when man was still putting saddles on dinosaurs. This was way before smart phones so instead they put it in a book.

Then Dirty Harry came along and had that whole conversation with a different chair on national teeVee by gum! Us Republicans that saw that will never be the same again. And we'll never vote Democrat, because that would be wrong. The chair even said that!

WND Offers NRA Chief’s 336-Page Survival Manual At Incredible Price

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to purchase National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre’s tips on protecting your home from potential disasters, your time may have come.

WND, the conservative website and publisher of Chuck Norris columns, is offering readers a steep discount on “Safe: How to Protect Yourself, Your Family and Your Home,” a 336-page survival manual written by Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the National Rifle Association.

“It normally sells for $27.96. But today only, WND readers can get this massive new 336-page hardcover book, titled ‘SAFE: How to Protect Yourself, Your Family and Your Home,’ for only $4.95, an incredible $23 discount!” the website advertised in a “Deal of the Day” published Sunday. (Despite the “new” billing, “Safe” was actually published in 2010.) “If you want to take the right steps to prepare and protect the things that are most important to you - your family, your home, your financial future - then you owe it to yourself and your family to read ‘SAFE,’ published by WND Books.”

Disaster prep is a thing for LaPierre. In a February op-ed, for instance, he raised the prospect of “terrorists, crime, drug gangs, the possibility of Euro-style debt riots, civil unrest or natural disaster” to bolster his arguments against any new federal gun control measures.

According to WND, “Safe” teaches readers how to prepare for floods, fire, hurricanes, tornadoes, “and more.” Did you know, for instance, that leaving your lights on when you leave your home may actually attract burglars? Wayne LaPierre knows, apparently.

And wait. There’s more. Folks who buy “Safe” as part of the current deal will also get three free issues of Whistleblower, WND’s “critically acclaimed monthly magazine.”

    ...more
