Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Here is an Alaskan "moment of zen" to send you off to dreamland.
OT Today, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, and the event has gone unnoticed by Sarah Palin. She used Trig as evidence of her right to life credentials when she ran for VP in 2008. Since then, Trig appeared on a book tour bus tour, and then faded into....well, we didn't see much of the little guy until someone posted a comment, "Where's Trig?" and "Where are Trig's glasses?" Oh, here he is, sitting all alone in an empty auditorium, I mean, Bible Camp. And, the glasses didn't look like they fit him.
It's not too late, Sarah, to let us know how Trig's therapy is going, and what he is able to accomplish because of the therapy. It would also be nice to hear that you have lent your name and high profile to National or local DS organizations for fund raising. And, no, I don't mean asking for a speaking fee. I mean donating your speaking fee as a donation because this is a group that you should be supporting. Sorry to say, you only seem to speak at places where there are potential donors to your PAC and TV coverage for your mean-girl style speeches. It's time, Sarah, to take up the banner for a worthy cause and not ask for anything in return.
5:12 is absolutely correct! That grifting charlatan used Trig to get votes from the drooling hateful fundies and now its so blatant in your face obvious she did! The only ones still blind to it all are her Cult, mean ugly evil people cut from the same cloth as she!
Gryphen, can you tell us more? is it usual for them to be so close to human habitat? is it (he?) browsing the branches for early leaf buds, or is he very hungry due to loss of usual feed over the winter?
he seems to be the size of a pony or young horse...
I have lived around elk, but never moose...if you can add anything personal about sharing the neighborhood with such striking wildlife, it would appreciated.
Aurora
ps I also a sinking sensation because I remembered SP remark about wildlife and mashed potatoes...
I have given up IM and C4P for Lent...just sometimes miss this place... but she truly has poisoned the world, at least for me, and I have to find a way to be responsible for not letting the poison sicken my soul...
to recognize it and transform it into a loving act... that will be my task for Holy Week.
(ya, ya...it's a way to watch the passing of the year...and I have always loved how Easter is set by Pagan markers... the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox!)
Yes the moose, especially close to town, are essentially fearless. They don't usually approach people, but they also don't flee from them unless startled.
And yes the moose are hungry at this time of year and will eat any new foliage that starts to poke up through the snow, or strip the bark off of trees for nutrients.
As for their size, when they are full grown, they are substantially larger than most horses.
G so are those two twins? I know moose frequently have twins and the one moose meets up with another of the same size? Two youngsters on their own? Dennis did a beautiful job. I would love to see him and your daughter get together and make a beautiful documentary of Alaska. The REAL Alaska! The mountains, wildlife, flora & fauna and some Natives and customs. I saw yesterday a subsistence hunter (I didn't know they are allowed to kill polar bears?) Killed one and then he realized it was a mom and followed the footsteps and rescued the baby. I don't like that Anyone is allowed to kill polar bears (endangered) but he did the right thing and was actually horrified that the little one might be a orphan: https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/polar-bear-cub-saved-hunter-killed-mother-article-1.1295042
How appropriate to watch this while wearing the frolicking neon moose socks I bought the last time I was in Alaska!
My kindergarteners love these socks and all my students, past and present, can tell you what my favorite animal is AND show you how to say it in sign language!

I can't believe you ruin this absolutely pristine beautiful video some some payme crapola!
DeleteGo take it to Palin thread.
I don't give a fuck about world down syndrome day.
Shame on you!
Boy right out of the gate trying to get noticed by stupid sarah.

DeleteThe less time little Trigger spends with Beelzebub the better. She would probably drown him in a bathtub by now.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought at seeing these beautiful creatures was that I was glad Sarah wasn't around with her heelicopters and rifles.
ReplyDeleteThey truly are majestic creatures! Nice Clip!
ReplyDeleteThe closest thing to that around here are deer and wild turkeys, unless pink flamingo lawn ornaments count.
Beautiful video and moose, Dennis! Bravo!!
ReplyDelete...and the rest of you, STAY ON TOPIC HERE!!
Well done Dennis. Fabulously sharp! Obviously not a point and shoot. What kind of video equipment?
