The history of the Karl Rove/Sarah Palin feud.

I did not realize how long the back and forths had been going on, but this started essentially as soon as McCain chose Palin as his running mate.

Personally I found this list by New York Magazine fascinating. I think you will too:

September 1, 2008: Rove, a Republican ostensibly trying to help the Republicans win the presidential race, suggested that the selection of Palin as John McCain's running mate was "not a governing decision but a campaign decision."

September 19, 2008: Rove reiterated the point by telling the AP that Palin was a "political pick" and was not the most qualified candidate for the job.

September 24, 2008: Asked whether Palin would make a good president, Rove responded, "I don't know." It is becoming clear that Rove is not really a Palin fan.

November 13, 2008: After the election, Rove said that if Palin "wants to run for president she's gonna have to get somebody to move to Anchorage, Alaska and help her take her game to another level." Tough but fair.

July 5, 2009: Rove said he was "perplexed" by Palin's decision to abruptly resign her governorship before her term was up. "It is not clear what her strategy here is by exiting the governorship 2 1/2 years through the term and putting herself on the national stage that she may not yet be prepared to operate in," he said.

September 15, 2010: After Rove slammed Christine O'Donnell for being probably one of the worst Senate candidates of all time, Palin, who endorsed O'Donnell, struck back against the "good old boy" and his establishment mindset. "Well, bless his heart," Palin said on Fox News. "We love our friends, they’re in the machine, the expert politicos. But my message to those who say that the GOP nominee is not electable, or that they’re not even going to try, well I say, ‘buck up!’”

October 27, 2010: As Palin's reality show was about to debut, Rove implied to the Telegraph that she lacked the "level of gravitas" that voters look for in presidents. "With all due candor, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office."

October 31, 2010: Palin insisted that Sarah Palin's Alaska was not a reality show but a show "documenting Alaska’s resources." Therefore, "Karl is wrong right there in calling it a reality show." Okay.

March 7, 2011: As detailed in the very pages of New York, Rove did a "withering impersonation of Palin" for writer Joe Hagan: "'Did you see that?' he says, adopting a high, sniveling Palin accent: 'Holy crap! That fish hit my thigh! It hurts!’” Amazing.

August 23, 2011: For whatever reason, Palin lashed out at Rove after he predicted that she would run for president in 2012. "Any professional pundit claiming to have 'inside information' regarding Gov. Palin's personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public," Palin's PAC said in a statement.

August 24, 2011: Rove fired back the next day. "It is a sign of enormous thin skin if we speculate about her, she gets upset," he said on Fox News, "and I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she'd be upset and trying to find a way to get us to speculate about her."

March 7, 2012: In a private conference call, Rove declared that Palin's endorsement of Newt Gingrich "demonstrated that endorsements don’t mean snot."

March 16, 2013: Palin referred to Rove by his nickname, the Architect, in a scathing CPAC speech over the weekend. "If these experts who keep losing elections and keep getting rehired and getting millions — if they feel that strong about who gets to run in this party, then they should buck up or stay in the truck," Palin said. "Buck up or run. The architects can head on back to the great Lone Star State and put their name on some ballot — though for their sakes, I hope they give themselves a discount on their consulting services."

March 17, 2013: Rove's comeback came the next morning. "If I did run for office and win," he said on Fox News Sunday, "I would serve out my term and I wouldn't leave office midterm."

God that was fun!

You know my favorite part of this is that Rove and Palin are being used by many in the media as the figureheads for the two sides of the current Republican party schism. Which is amazing if you think about it, because that means the Republican party is sort of unofficially represented by a failed politician/reality show participant and a disgraced political operative whose own boss referred to him as "Turblossom."

In other words, the Republican party may be in even MORE trouble than many of us imagined.

The fact that Carl Rove ever considered that palin could somehow be educated enough to become a viable candidate tells me that we are observing dumb and dumber in real time. Rove being the former and paylin bringing up the rear.

Jim DeMint at the Heritage Foudation has gathered all his little conservative elves to help launch a Conservative Party, in opposition to both the Democratic and Republican Party.
This venture is bound to lose, no matter how much money is funding it, because the conservatives themselves can't agree on what they can agree on.
All the libertarians will run away from the fundies, while the fundies will want more and more government intervention in the private lives of those who disagree with them.
We can only hope that a great deal of money and thousands of hours of work will help produce this profound GOP/Conservative split, and lead the way toward a more sane Congress, and Hillary or one of her deputies in 2016 and 2020.

I watched Obama's press conference today ... and thought .. can anyone picture Sarah being able to handle any of the questions? President Palin, LMFAO.

Sarah has never had an open press conference ... and never will. She is just to DUMB.

Her fight with Rove will not end well for her.

I'm just now reading NIcolle Wallace's book "It's Classified" on my Kindle although I've had it for 2 years now. Wow, Tara, the bi-polar VP has such similarities to Palin...I'm wondering how Wallace was able to circumvent her non-disclosure agreement so carefully and closely while writing this very lightly-veiled description of Sarah Palin and how Nicolle and Steve Schmidt played Svengalis to the mentally ill and undereducated VP candidate. Juicy, revealing and such a good read. Especially the parts regarding how Tara Myers, the VP, was missing in action and the Congress had taken to texting and calling her handlers to ask "Where's Tara?". Non-fiction with a tough of fiction. This book just confirms that Palin is as absolutely batshit crazy and as out of touch politically as we in Alaska have always known she was.

I predicted back in late 2008 that Palin would make herself obsolete very, very quickly and that her demise would be ugly. I'll say it again: the Palin catastrophe is going to get much worse before it's over. By the time she's finished with her slow motion self destruction this show is going to go from comedy, to tragedy to horror (albeit the horror will be the kind you can laugh at like Dead Alive). I won't mind any of it that happens to Sarah, Todd, Bristol and Willow. They've put themselves in line for it. The innocents that get sucked into it? That's going to be the tragedy part.

I'm still not on Karl's side. He and Sarah are but two sides of a moldy piece of GOP cheese; neither side is fit to eat, even after trimming off the bad part.

I hope they end up doing each other in, not physically, but ideologically, within the Republican party. I hope that the black hole in the middle between the Powerbrokers and the Dirtbags becomes an inescapable force that gravitationally consumes both sides until there is nothing left.

      Both sides deserve nothing more.

Sarah is poking the bear. She must really believe his hands are tied and he can't retaliate beyond these little jabs. It it because he's been told by the big wigs in the GOP or Fox not to go full force against her? Regardless, she has way too much faith in the bars that separate her from the bear. It's going to end up biting her in the ass.

Karl Rove is not afraid of criticizing Sarah Palin. Even though he is a major asshat, that shows he has more backbone than the majority of the GOP - especially warmonger McCain. War hero my ass!

Rove has been doing this a very, very long time and he has proven over and over that there are no depths to which he will not sink, no stone he will leave unturned and no devious lies that will go unsaid to achieve what he wants. He is NOT the person you want as an enemy.

She is SO far out of her league going against Rove that they are not even playing the same sport.

Eventually, whoever has been keeping him reigned in will give the go ahead to destroy her and she will never see it coming.

I do not think that it is someone that is keeping Rove from destroying Palin. He has the power to destroy her with what he knows about her and how and why she was picked. This secret would probably damage others in positions of power in the Republican Party, the Tea Party and the Bible Party.

The power of Rove's implied threat to reveal this is greater than the impact of actually revealing the secret.

It will be fun when it happens. Todd and Sarah will be waving pictures of Louis Rove's Dydoe, and asking if Karl has one also too!

Seriously. Remember, Rove is the guy who spread the rumor of McCain's "Black love child" when McCain was running against the first Bush. He's biding his time.

The best result is Rove strikes against Palin and Palin takes him down with her. Unfortunately, I think it's going to take more than lightweight Palin to take down Rove.

At some point she's going to cross some line and get a serious bitch slap that'll make her head spin. She'll be left wondering WTF just happened to her life.

How come its so obvious to all of us that revenge is what fuels Sarah Palin, but it's pretty much ignored by the media? In addition to the Rove/Palin feud, it was Sarah Palin who actively stirred the pot during the Republican primary. Remember how she kept saying how good all those debates were because it was "vetting" the candidates? Now the RNC says it was one of the huge mistakes they made. They ended up eating their own, and in the process helping the Democratic Party. Sarah didn't do it because she thought it was important to vet the candidates. She did it for revenge. She HATES Karl Rove and will do whatever she can to destroy him. She'll end up doing herself in - maybe him too, but in the process they both will be destroyed :)

They can find that majority thru their gerrymandering efforts that have made it easy for the white guy to always be elected for House or Senate. However, they know in their hearts they will not see another GOP President for many, many years. They will however keep up their obstructionist antics in Congress as long as they are willing to spend the money.

They're now calling Rove a hypocrite because he resigned from his appointed position at the the Bush White House.

    a political appointee
deciding to move on- are comparable.
The most ignorant and low information voters are
actually those on the far right ,

Same with going to Alaska, I was invited to go on a cruise but I'll pass for now. Alaska has a lot of cleaning up to do. The people and state maybe nice but the stench from the Palins and Heaths is too much for anyone.

it's very sad that you let the Palins dictate your life, that just gives them power over you. Now I think that DWTS is a pretty sucky show, and don't watch it anyway, but really, to deny yourself something you enjoy because of Palins? Wow, just wow.

Not sad that you'll miss an Alaska cruise. That's not the best way to see the state, stuck on a ship with a bunch of other tourons in bad tracksuits and then herded around like sheep on busses, so good for you to not take that cruise. Cruises kind of suck all around and there are much better independent tours of Alaska that you can take where you get one on one attention and get to see some of the more far flung reaches of our state, without being around all those damn tourists. Oh, but wait, you're going to deny yourself that experience too, because of Palins. So sad, I'm sure they like knowing they have that sort of power over people, and they don't even live here in anymore!

Yes I did enjoy DWTS and I used to watch the Apprentice show too but never again.

Why did DWTS put Bristol on the All Star show when there were dozens of others more deserving than Bristol. We all know why and that told me something about DWTS. The All Star show wasn't about letting the best dance compete. DWTS thought wrong BIG TIME by pulling that crap. Why support a crooked team, restaurant, mayor, governor, family etc?

As far as the Apprentice goes, I hope Donald Chump loses his show because viewers stopped watching it and it is self explanatory why that asshole makes me sick.

Too bad the history that counts most is not amongst the history she remembers...
