The video the Exxon oil company, and the Republican party, DON'T want you to see. Update!

Courtesy of Raw Story:

An Exxon-Mobil oil pipeline ruptured Friday afternoon in the town of Mayflower, Arkansas, forcing the evacuation of 20 homes and shutting down sections of interstate highway. According to Little Rock’s KATV, a hazardous materials team from the Office of Emergency Management has contained the spill and is currently attempting a cleanup.

The burst pipe is part of the Pegasus pipeline network, which connects tar sands along the Gulf coast to refineries in Houston. Thousands of gallons of crude oil erupted from the breach around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, spilling through a housing subdivision and into the town’s storm drainage system, fouling drainage ditches and shutting down Highway 365 and Interstate 40.

Residents were evacuated to avoid health hazards from crude oil fumes and to keep stray sparks from igniting the standing oil. Emergency workers contained the spill by hastily constructing earthen dams.

According to the YouTube link over 84,000 gallons have spilled into the town so far.

You know it is bad enough to have an oil pipeline burst in a remote parts of Alaska but so much worse when the spill is right next door and forces the evacuation of your entire neighborhood.

Perhaps THIS will be enough to get certain politicians to reconsider the idea of building the Keystone XL project.

What am I saying? After all you can bet the pipeline won't be built next to any of the homes of powerful Republican Senators now will it?

Update: This is somebody's backyard in Mayflower, Arkansas.

That is NOT water.

Thanks G for posting this. Of course our "Lamestream media" is not reporting just like they don't report on Sarah Palin.
Also there was a Train that derailed in MN. too. I think even more oil was spilled Dirty tar sand oil.
It was said that the R's were all giddy, "Well see, this is why we need KXL pipeline"!
But no...we need neither. People get your asses out of your cars and walk!
I know all of you in AK are going to tell me you NEED your cars...
but what did you do before?
    Dog sled.
Same with lower 48 we had horses. Now we ship our beloved horse to slaughter houses and torture/kill them :( Dammit get your fat asses out and WALK!
    Stop using oil.
Cut your driving down. Get a fucking clue! Our Earth is being sold piece by piece.
Our oceans, our rivers, aquifers fracked.
Instead of driving a mile to the store walk.
Drive less. try to drive 6 days instead of 7.
Your health and the planet's health will befit.

Tell Keystone to send it through British Columbia to Vancouver. It can be shipped from there. Why not?

That goes along with a previous thread but don't worry, Republicans and Conservatives will ignore it.

I was watching a report on it and by chance that "Safe, Clean" oil industry commercial aired, the one that says it's proven safe, that they permanently seal your wells and create millions of American Jobs...." came on. Sorry, there's nothing "clean" nor "safe" about it if they need to "seal" your wells.
The story on our news was sketchy and sugar coated.

THIS clip says it all. A "small" spill caused this damage, and who knows how much more will happen?

We only get one chance to "get it right", and this isn't it.

And of course, they will be given a slap on the wrist and told "naughty naughty" and sent on their way. As long as the fines for crap like this are tiny compared to the profits it will continue to happen.

When a business makes multiple HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars in profits EVERY YEAR, fines of tens of billions (IF we are lucky!) is doing nothing more than giving them a reason to laugh their asses off behind the closed doors of the board rooms.

Bite into their wallets SERIOUSLY and things like this won't happen as often. (Please note, I DID say "as often".) Unfortunately, truly reasonable fines aren't going to happen as long as the House of Representatives is in control of the idiots (I won't name any names, but their initials are the Republican Party!) who don't believe the environment is in trouble. Of course, it doesn't help matters any that they are the same ones who are TOTALLY in the pockets of big business!

That pipeline should never have gotten as far as it did. I know Boehner for one has invested heavily in several companies to build this, and you know there are many more. The facts are clear.... aside from the colossal accident waiting to happen, there is no financial gain for this country. Canada sells the oil, they own the pipeline and are selling the oil overseas. No jobs or profit, just the sure bet of ruining our deep water aquifers and vast amounts of lands. Seems like a no brainer, I can't believe Obama is even considering it. This video in Ark is disgusting beyond belief...it should be on all the major networks non stop.
