Let's end the day with a soothing Weekly Address from President Obama.

I swear NOBODY makes me feel more proud to be an American than this man.

With the possible exception of Uncle Ruslan Tsarni of course.

We are so very fortunate to have President Obama leading our country. He is calming, which is only one of his many attributes!

Can you imagine what McCain or Romney would have been like, if either had been elected, during the past week? Yikes!!!! We would not be a calm as we are today!

Yes, POTUS is a calming "opium like" feeling for those that don't pay attention or think for themselves.

I think you have mistaken POTUS for FOX news. I will choose calm cool and collected over screeching unhinged nonsense any day. You want unhinged go look at infowars ( i hear it's popular among those that hate the President.

Does this mean we're not going to get to bomb somebody over this?

Rest assured, we will bomb some innocents in Pakistan on this very day, probably while the president was giving his "heartfelt address".

Would you rather it be our troops on the ground defending us when a drone can do it without them being in harm's way? Our troops kill innocents too. It's that kind of war.

Nobody makes me feel prouder to be Alaskan than Sarah Palin. Now that we Alaskans ran her stinky grifting ass out to Arizona. .

Fuck Sarah Palin and her retarded family. She may have a house and family in Alaska but when she visits, she's no where to be seen. She hides out in her compound in Wasilla.

The fatigue and pressure of the week certainly shows in his eyes with the circles and shadows evident. He needs a short vacation or some happy news.

I agree - he is tired and thinner. The pressure has to be horrible - it has been a tough week! But, the job that was done by ALL was outstanding.

I fear what it would have been like had McCain or Romney been in office. Cannot even begin to imagine!

Gryphen posts some real thoughtfulness, and the comments are not in keeping with it; preferring to trend nasty and angry. what is up with that?

I thought that Uncle Ruslan was Beautiful! I can't commend him enough for his presence, his eloquence, and his realness.
I'm not normally near t.v., but this time, I was, and Uncle Ruslan, Mr. Obama, Governor Patrick, and many others were impressive. Damned impressive!

I'm glad for all the heroes and leaders in this time of chaos and stressfulness. I wouldn't want to have their job. Let's take a moment to allow ourselves to be pleased with what is good about us.

I loved watching the people of Watertown lining the streets and applauding as the law enforcement officers and first responders drove away after capturing the second bomber.

They all did an amazing job of identifying, tracking down and capturing the two men in an astonishingly short period of time, and I'm glad they received the recognition they deserve.

    Tom Coburn

    U.S. Senator, 65

By Barack Obama April 18, 2013

Tom Coburn and I don’t always agree on the issues. In fact, on the surface, we seem pretty different. I grew up in Hawaii; he grew up in Oklahoma. I’m trying to keep up with two daughters at home; Tom has already raised three.

But after we entered the Senate at the same time, our wives, Michelle and Carolyn, hit it off at an orientation dinner. Pretty soon, we did too. Since then, we’ve bonded over family and faith. And we’ve harnessed our friendship and mutual respect to find places where we can agree and work together to move this country forward.

We co-sponsored the “Google for Government” act, which made government more transparent and more accountable to the American people. We worked together to cut down on earmarks. And we continue to agree on the need to reduce wasteful spending and close tax loopholes that benefit only the well-off and well connected.

The people of Oklahoma are lucky to have someone like Tom representing them in Washington — someone who speaks his mind, sticks to his principles and is committed to the people he was elected to serve.

After I took office, Tom received dozens of letters from Oklahomans complaining that we looked too close on TV. Tom’s response was “How better to influence somebody than to love them?” Each of us still hopes the other will see the light. But in the meantime, we’ll settle for being friends.

    Barack Obama

    U.S. President, 51

By Hillary Clinton April 18, 2013

Crowds jammed the streets of Rangoon. Children waved American flags. Parents craned to see something long thought impossible: the President of the United States had come to Burma with a message of hope, freedom and opportunity. This was American leadership at its best.

When Barack Obama was first elected, the world saw the realization of the American Dream. Today, they see a leader who delivers — whether it’s ending the war in Iraq, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran or reasserting our role as a Pacific power and building a world with more partners and fewer enemies. At home, the economy is growing, unemployment is falling, and home prices are rising.

Now, President Obama is working to create broader prosperity at home and become more competitive abroad by investing in our people, modernizing our infrastructure, building a new energy future and managing our long-term fiscal challenges. That’s the course for a better future.

I respect both these men for pretty much the same reason. They both understand what it means to be a citizen of the United States, the rights, privileges and responsibilities that make the "American Dream" possible.
The Uncle is one brave man, how anyone can pass judgement on him for what his nephews did is beyond me.

you know what impressed me most about the uncle was how polite he was. watch him. he listens to the questions; he asks "pardon me" if he didn't hear; he gives all questioners a chance, and gives them consideration. i can't get over how noble and clear-thinking he was. i'd be proud to call him a kinsman.
