Courtesy of Slate:
At noon today, at the urging of the local Washington, D.C. Tea Party, nearly 100 activists gathered on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the IRS building. Down the road to their left was Capitol Hill; up the road to their right was the White House. The media-to-protester ratio clocked in at a robust one-to-five—the industry standard.
The paranoia quotient was unusually high. People who had shown up outside the IRS, bureaucrats occasionally glancing down at them, were shy about revealing their identifies. A half-dozen activists, happy enough to talk, would only give me their first names. Another man walked the perimeter wearing a paper bag with holes cut out for visibility: His “mask of intimidation and fear.” And another activist, a man wearing a T-shirt with the visage of the late Andrew Breitbart, briefly argued with a cameraman—“film my shirt, not my face”—before wrapping his head in a green scarf.
That didn’t matter, because the Tea Party was back. The IRS scandal that broke on May 10 has cultivated new, justified paranoia about the federal government. It’s been showing up in the polls. The new Washington Post/ABC News poll found that 40 percent of voters “support the Tea Party movement,” up from 32 percent last year. Independents supported the Tea Party by an 8-point margin; they used to oppose those guys, 44–34.
Well you know what THIS means don't you?
It means that for a short while the Teabaggers will get some renewed interest from the press, their will be more talk of running Sarah Palin for President in 2016. and we will get another chance to laugh at idiots dressed like this:
Well so much for the Republicans changing their minds about attacking Obama and actually trying to get any work done before the midterms.
No hope of that now. Assuming of course that there ever WAS any.
Morans.
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, no really please do, but I think this was orchestrated to get the TP back in the game with the GOP. They were gutted after the last election and the GOP started talking about rebranding and not being the party of stupid anymore....that was pushing the TP out of the tent.....well now that this has happened, the TP, and their craziness are back, full throttle.....I know it's probably not the case because of the timeline but I don't think this is going to hurt the Dems in 2014.
ReplyDeleteMy two cents
And, of course, not ONE of them has ANY IDEA what will be put in its place, right?
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to bet that every last one of these nut cases believes that by closing down the IRS, taxes will just go away!
When the taxes go away, so do the services all Americans rely on. I don't mind paying my income taxes because I believe the services we get in exchange are worth the cost.
DeleteBut not all.... Bush's wars for example. And the idiots in the House of Representatives who are bringing our nation down to third world level. Too bad we can't decide where our individual taxes go.
2:05, anyone with half a brain recognizes the tit for tat correlation between taxes and services. THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THESE RETARDS!
DeleteFuck those Red States that are living on the dole. I'm tired of listening to their complaining. They make a lot of noise about nothing, all because they're too fucking stupid to do the math that shows that almost none of the goddam red states even pay for themselves. They are the fucking TAKERS, and the biggest bunch of drool-faced wimps that ever called themselves an American. Freedom ain't Free, assholes. Grow up shut the fuck up or just secede and go the fuck away. We'll use the savings to build a fucking fence to keep you idiots from coming back. Fuck all of you Tea-tards.
DeleteRespectfully,
A Former Republican
another defintinon of scandail lludest to it basis in gossip and inuendo.
ReplyDelete"Cpmtroversity," "investigation" are so much more neutral phrases, but, of course, those who are partisan see scandal under every lilac bus n.
Before they call for the end of the IRS, I'd assume that ever one of these sign holders knew when it was called, and passed by 2/2 of the states, and, most importantly, why it was passed. And When. That's a valid discusssion, among educated citizens. You can't be against it if you have no clue why it was passed by the Congress and two-thirds of the state legislators.
It has paid for war wars, among other great American triumphs. Should we ask our allies for reprarations, 50 years later for the aid we gave to them?
OK, Let's get this straight Tea Party. The original Tea Party was staged as a protest against LOW taxes. Have you idiots got that? Now to your credit it does sound like you have something right. The original Tea Party participants were so afraid of being identified they dressed up like American Indians because they were scared and I suppose they figured the British would go out and annihilate some Indian villages as payback. What a bunch of asshats. Yet, once again Sara will take up the flag and crow some word salad in the hopes they'll dig into their couch cushions again for their loose change. It's gotta suck to be paying hush money - er postage - and not have the cretins sending in money like they used to.
ReplyDeleteThe Tea Party is absolutely right. No one should have to pay taxes, especially because they don't want to. And, they don't like the government. And, they don't want to pay taxes.
ReplyDeleteThat means that the Tea Party should lead the way by giving up their Social Security, their Medicare and Medicade. That guy in the three cornered hat looks just the right age to be taking care of himself instead of having us pay for his Social Security, Medicare and Medicade.
That's just a start. Anyone in the Tea Party has to stop driving on the national and state highways, paid for with our tax dollars. They can no longer visit National and State Parks. For that matter, no local city parks and beaches, too, because all of this is funded through public taxing. They cannot fly in air controlled air space. And, I'm just getting started. They can't use drugs or food whose safety is guaranteed by the FDA. And most of all, they must demand an end to war because its our tax money paying for the military.
OK, Tea Party. Instead of dumping tea overboard, this time dump your Social Security, your Medicare, and any other benefits that you get from living in this country.
Try telling one of them that.
DeleteThe resident TeaBagger in my house yells all the time about how "moochers" take advantage of the system, and "socialism" is just going to harm all the good, "hard working" people like him.
My jaw hit the floor. The man hasn't worked in years...He had a heart attack, got on disability during his recovery and realized that he liked sitting around while the government paid his way and his son and I took care of him. When his doctor said he was healthy enough to go back to work, he found a different doctor who was willing to lie for him. Then he fought his way onto Social Security and complained loud enough to raise the dead that the government was "cheating him out of" Medicare (he was turned down because he wasn't yet old enough.)
Oh, and all this happened during the healthcare debate, so add in constant screaming about how "government healthcare" is bad.
When the obvious hypocrisy is pointed out, he loudly insists that he "earned" what he gets from the government, but nobody else apparently does. And that's what they'll all say. They're white Republican Christians, ie True Murkans, so the government giving THEM stuff is never wrong. It's just wrong when not True Murkans get things.

ReplyDeleteand BTW, income tax as we know it is illegal...
Just keep telling yourself that, hon.
DeleteAnd don't go out without your caretaker.
Have a nice day!
Liz, i encourage you, and all of you, to watch "Theft by Deception" It's in nine parts, on youtube. it takes about ninety minutes in all, and is the best explanation of how the IRS perpetrates this fraud on the American people.
DeleteAnd unless you can show me the condition precedent, that, if I were liable, makes me liable for an income tax, I have to assume that participation in the income tax program is strictly voluntary.
Note: I am talking about income tax; that does not include real estate taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes, or other. I am talking about taxing your work, for taking up the tools of your trade, and the income derived therefrom.
OT whatever happened to the March on Washington DC with where everyone was suppose to wear their gun??? did those guys show up and if os how many and did they back down as soon as the police waved them back over the bridge
ReplyDeleteThat's supposed to happen on the Fourth of July and DC Police has said that they will not let them enter DC.
DeleteAlso, I don't think they'll be allowed to carry their guns on the Metro to get to their meeting place and Arlington Cemetary, if that is their meeting point, will not appreciate these yahoos showing up with their guns either.
DeleteOne hundred idiots show up at the irs DC's office to protest.and only 100 clowns show up, teehee, Ha an insurgence?
ReplyDeleteThe irs isn't the scandal the gop makes it out 2 B. An internal audit is remedied at the department's managerial level not at the United States of America Presidential level. gop are really batty batshit crazy.
wp/abc poll results make as much sense as wp/abc poll results from the 2012 election. Remember them gop?
Another thing...these so-called pundits, msm including cable news are making a molehill out of silly anthills.
No real big news unless it's manufactured. It pisses off the right-wingers whenever a natural disaster pushes their whiny "scandals" back to page six. "Okay, you idiots. We get it. You don't like the blah or brown people. Complain about something new every now and then. You're boring."
DeleteDon't you wonder if their God sends a big storm to get their minds on people instead of hate? I mean, it seems as if every time their anger reaches a new low, we get a storm in a red state, forcing their idiot Congressmen to scramble to explain why the last even was not worthy of federal help, but theirs is.
DeleteKind of funny if peoples' lives weren't at stake.
When you listen to them talk about what they want for this country they almost always describe current Somalia.
ReplyDeleteDo use all a favor and just move there.
DOJ Document Reveals Fox News Reporter James Rosen Wanted To Impact U.S. Foreign Policy
ReplyDelete...After outlining the kinds of secret information he hoped to get from “Leo,” Rosen summed up his intention to… report the news objectively? To serve the public?
Let’s break some new, and expose muddle-headed policy when we see it – or force the administration’s hand to go in the right direction, if possible.
Wait, what? Is that what a News reporter is supposed to do, force the administration’s hand to guide American foreign policy to the reporter’s whim? Separate and apart from the DOJ investigation, this email seems to indicate that James Rosen is not just a News reporter, but an activist intent on pushing his own agenda, with the stated goal of manipulating U.S. foreign policy.

IRS Sleuths Were on the Right Track: Big Tobacco Created Tea Party in 1994
ReplyDeletehttp://www.desmogblog.com/2013/05/22/irs-sleuths-were-right-track-big-tobacco-created-tea-party-1994
"justified paranoai about the federal government?" Really? Number one, the IRA was doing their JOB. The liberal groups who were 'targeted' are not out there whining. Number Two: Benghazi is a GOP setup. They changed the emails and sent them to the gullible press; Petraus was the one who changed the talking points and lied. Number Three: I do not care how many of these retired goofs show up with their signs. They are not taking over this country, and thy wouldn't have a clue how to run it if they did. They can't even spell.
ReplyDeleteJust when you thought it couldn't get crazier...the assclowns are hyperparanoid!
ReplyDeleteOh great, "Born Again Teabaggers"! Imitating "The Unknown Comic". What's next, white robes and hoods?
Wow. Almost 100 people! I feel so intimidated. 100 people in funny clothes carrying misspelled signs. I'll bet the Obama administration is just quaking in their boots.
