PolitiFact finds that Republicans lie three times more often than Democrats. Seems low to me.

Courtesy of TPM:

One of the most prominent political fact-checkers has shown Republicans to be much less honest than their Democratic counterparts, according to findings from a study released Tuesday by George Mason University.

The study, conducted from the beginning of President Barack Obama's second term in January through last week, found that PolitiFact.com has rated Republican claims as false three times more often than Democratic claims.

According to the study, 32 percent of GOP claims were rated as "false" or "pants on fire" by PolitiFact, compared with 11 percent of claims by Democrats.

Yeah I have a hard time thinking of a time when the Republicans AREN'T lying about something!

As we know all politicians do lie on occasion, so I am well aware that there are Democrats who have told some humdingers, but as Rachel Maddow has pointed out on more than one occasion PolitiFact does not always seem to  recognize all facts equally:

“The statement you were fact-checking is true, and until somebody figures out how to sue you in order to retrieve the meaning of the word fact from the dark and airless hole you have stuffed it into, Politifact, then no, it is not okay to just make this stuff up. You are truly terrible. Fact checking has to count for something, and Politifact, you are ruining it for everyone.”

So let me just go out on a limb here and say that the ratio of lying Republicans to lying Democrats is significantly higher.

I would say higher too. The Republicans have to lie more because they only represent the 1%. To get anybody else to vote for them they have to lie, use fear tactics, suppress the vote, pretend to be Christians, etc. It's really too bad so many are fooled by them. We could really have a great thriving economy and country if it wasn't for the greedy bastards. Fuck 'em.

Are we surprised by this? Not me! Vote them out of office every chance you get - especially in the U.S.Congress and governors across the USA. I cannot even look at them - i.e. Bachmann, McCain, Palin, McConnell, Cantor and on and on. They do NOT represent Americans.
All they do is obstruct, lie and want us in more wars!

With God on our side, we are accountable only to our higher power, cause boys will be boys and there should be consequences for bad behavior only to cackling rads and pj-wearin bloggers singin Kumbaya in their parent's basement. Whatever we say that we are called on are not intended to be factual statements and whatnot, so get over it.

It would be interesting to see what they count as a lie and how many times they count the same lie. If Michelle Bachmann says the IRS will be making tour healthcare decisions ten times, do they count it once -- or ten times? Also, if Sarah Palin calls Obama's birth certificate into question, does that count? Did they count all those allegations of Obama being a Socialist? And if they accused him of being a gangster Socialist, did they count that as TWO lies??!!

For the Dems, they probably counted every time Anthony Weiner denied the stuff about his pee pee as one lie and that was it.

No surprise! If you want an idea of how much the Republicans delude themselves, read one of Sarah Palin's fan websites. Her devoted fans continue to write that she was exonerated in Troopergate. (No, she was found to have abused her office as governor, and she was guilty of allowing her husband access to her office and government agencies in trying to get Trooper Wooten fired).

Her fans write that Sarah was never found guilt of any ethics violations when she was governor, while she had to pay back her family's travel expenses when she dragged them along to state events. She had to pay back a per diem for staying in her own house. She had to refund the money that a defense fund collected for her, which would have relieved the governor of paying her own bills. (They used the word "governor" in soliciting donations, meaning that Palin was using her office to enrich herself. Enrich herself means that someone else paid her bills, saving her money).

When a journalist described his experience wearing Google Glasses and meeting the Palins, he described Todd's refusing to pose for a photo, saying, "What's in it for us?" Sarah's devoted fan see this story in a different light.
"Gee. A self-identified drunk liberal taking a gratuitous swipe at the Palins in order to draw attention to himself and draw hits for another non-story."

Obviously wasn't counting Obama at all, as he lies more than repubs combined. And that is easily proven with video if you're open=minded enough to look.

The problems with being too open minded are basically, one has to have a mind to begin with, and if you're too open minded, your brains fall out. Links for these "videos" would be appreciated.

You mean the supreme court upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, and the liars have put it up for repeal over 30 times? By extension, the three for one ratio should be over 30 to one.

Compare the number of bills passed by Boehner vs Pelosi.

I'm sure the ricin letter sent to Bloomberg must be a fabrication as well, right?

  8. This is no surprise.

We need to start pushing back on the false equivalence, this idea that "both parties do it."

When one party does it a LOT more, then there really is no equivalence.
