Sean Parnell decides to keep protecting Sarah Palin's legacy rather than to run against Mark Begich for the Senate.

Courtesy of ADN:

Gov. Sean Parnell on Friday announced plans to seek re-election next year, saying he believes he can be more effective in that role than in pursuing a U.S. Senate bid.

Parnell told The Associated Press his administration has helped to build a "solid foundation" of opportunity for the state, "and it's now time to frame in that opportunity and make it more lasting for Alaskans."  (Just a bunch of words strung together, making no sense whatsoever!)

Parnell will seek to hold on to the office he's held since July 2009. He's coming off a legislative session in which he scored some major political wins, including passage of a controversial oil tax cut aimed at spurring North Slope investment and production.

This is of course good news for Mark Begich since recent polls show that the one Republican who would start off strong to challenge him for his seat is Parnell. Every OTHER GOP challenger would have a hard time taking him out. (Though after his recent vote on background checks he has a lost a significant amount of support.)

However having Parnell remain in his position as the Governor is NOT good for those of us looking for closure on the saga of Sarah Palin.

While Parnell is still in power there are people who simply will not talk, and records that will never be disclosed. I really do believe that even though Parnell has turned his back on some of Palin's policy decision, that he continues to protect her legacy and reputation, as well, let's not forget, his own.

And yes, though I hate to say it, Parnell is quite likely to win his bid for reelection barring any huge ethics concerns or outright criminal behaviors. So we can look forward to more of his attempts to block the implementation of Obaamcare, the fake concern for rape victims, and his almost transparent presence at the helm of our state.

The image I'm talking about is the one that says:

"Fun Fact: So far this year more Americans have been killed on US Soil by toddlers than terrorists".

    Makes you think.

10:27 a.m. You are so correct. Alaskans have been absolute idiots in whom they've elected throughout the years...it's just amazing!!! Get the Republicans out of office up there! Alaska Legislature, governor, mayor of Anchorage and on and on. They have proven to be horrible for most areas of the USA as well as Alaska.

Corruption is overflowing in Alaska!!!! Oil industry!

I'd call re-pilling ACES contrary to preserving Sarah Palin's legacy.

It's pretty funny though, that Sarah quit being our State's "CEO" so that she could progress Alaska's interests without the shackles that comes with a PC title - and she never once defended her legacy legislation to Sean or the Republican-led Legislature. Crickets.

Guess Bloomberg's Big Gulp policy was really affectin Alaska and whatnot, and her priorities lie five thousand miles East of Juneau.

    6. It looks like Sarah DID dress up for the Derby. The dress looks like that one she's recycle-wore once before, which is the one Bristol originally wore to the 2011 WHCD.

You people really have too much time on your hands. I can give a shit about what someone is wearing. Is this a political blog or a rag mag blog? If I had a blog I would be embarrassed by the likes of y'all commenting on my thoughts. Thought I would get some intelligent conversation going but nevermind. Obviously this is not that kind of blog.

Betcha she won't come out in favor of Parnell due to both of them knowing she is the kiss of death. He has probably already requested that she keep her mouth shut about his reelection process.

Seems pretty obvious to me that Parnell knows he cannot beat Begich if he had chosen to run against him.

It's obvious too that the oil industry will be behind Parnell which is going to be bad for the Alaskan population! We need to get the vote out AGAINST this guy when the day arrives. This jerk is also the guy that has protected the Palin klan who badly needs to be sent to the pasture.

"Captain Zero" is so his name, which was provided him by Don Young! It's the only good thing that Don Young has done!!! Haha! The name so fits Parnell - he is so blaaaa in speech and delivery!

Very sad news Gyrp. The Sarah Palin lives on in her legacy in Alaska. It seems like it is going to take 8 years before her idiots she elected to office will be totally gone. Mark Begich, the worst democratic senator in the entire U.S.A. I would want to move the hell out of that state.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Speaking of Mark Begich, this may be his probably-futile attempt to rehabilitate himself with Dem voters.

Begich announces bill to keep Social Security solvent by lifting income cap.

Of course, it probably will die in a Senate committee the same way a Republican representative's bill to exclude cancer patients from the sequester got referred to the appropriate House Committee, where it has a 8% chance of making it out of committee, and a 5% chance of being discussed on the House floor.

Or Begich's bill will get filibustered, since it IS the Senate.

Makes you wonder what the Palins have on Parnell. It's probably the same thing they have on the APD and Secret Service and who knows whom else. (There's ol' Todd, collecting more "DNA evidence.")
