I have told you guys a few times that my daughter works in the entertainment biz.
She works on all types, from movies, to theatrical plays, to television programs. And yes that includes a few really bad reality shows.
The movie above is the movie that she spent two years working on, and is the movie that she is the MOST proud of being a part of.
Her job was to scout locations and help with the production materials.
In the movie they filmed actual locations in Alaska, New Zealand, and other parts of the world and then inserted CGI dinosaurs into them. As you can see it is almost seamless, and takes the technology developed during the making of Jurassic Park (Which a few of the crew members also worked on) and makes it that much better.
In fact some of this team had just come off the making of Avatar before coming up here to film, so as you can imagine my daughter was very excited to work with them.
Anyhow I am bursting with pride and just wanted to share that with all of you.
The movie will be out for Christmas and according to my daughter will be an amazing experience, and tons of fun for the entire family.
Congratulations all around!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve got a right to be proud.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I have the Walking With collection on DVD. Great series. Hopefully the movie will be as good.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done and I look forward to seeing it! (And I also look forward to the faces of the assholes who will complain about no HUMANS and/or the time reference!)
ReplyDeleteYou have a right to be proud.
GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMargot
That was very cool!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! You have every right to be proud as punch, Gryphen!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your daughter has a great start to a promising, exciting, entertaining career. I wish her all the best!
My nephew did location work. Hey, WE know the location teams are the most important (grin). Congrats to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI can remember when the most impressive thing ever (I thought) was Viewmaster slides of very pretend dinosaurs attacking each other.
ReplyDeleteLooks very cool.
Wow! That looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!! Can't wait to see it. Coming out at Christmas '13, a great time for a movie like this. Gonna be a hit!!
ReplyDeleteSpoiler alert.
ReplyDeleteMovie ends with Sarah shooting the dinosaur and handing Piper the eyeball to hold.
If Sarah could only hold a rifle....
DeleteThat is a talented daughter you have.
ReplyDeleteLooks to be an excellent movie Jesse! Please pass along my my thanks to your daughter for her work. She sounds like one Hell of a fine lady.
ReplyDeleteFinally, shameless promotion from someone worthy of every bit! Congratulations to both of you!
ReplyDeleteYou should be ashamed of nothing, never anything wrong with being proud of your child.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the trailer, I love these movies. I can't imagine how many times I have seen Jurassic and all the additions. It is just fascinating to me to see the graphics, I envy you daughter.
Give her a big hug from me and tell her I am also proud of her, a virtual stranger.
It is great to read your mutual appreciation of the talented creative people she had the opportunity to work with. Your daughter's career is gaining highlights like this film broadening her horizon. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI can relate because my daughter is a musical theater performer honing her talents. It's a joy to witness their experiences when they book jobs.
Congratulations to a talented daughter and a proud father. I love reading about it here.
ReplyDeleteMy son loves these Walking with Dinosaur movies. And I have to admit, I think they are pretty cool too! I know what one of his Christmas presents is going to be!
ReplyDeleteThe movie looks very cool. Can't wait to see it. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI should point out that this is not the first big movie that my daughter has worked on. She was also part of the team that made the Drew Barrymore movie, "Big Miracle" that was filmed up here.
ReplyDeleteThe other moves were more low budget, and one that stared Jon Voight was so bad that my daughter asked that her name be taken off of it. (I actually watched it on Netflix out of curiosity and totally support her decision. So bad!)
Other than that she worked on that "Big Hair Alaska" show, and another reality show about a gun store up here.
This summer it looks like she will be focusing on theater work and a National Geographic program that is supposed to start filming next week.
I just need her to hit the big time so that she can afford to put me in that swanky old folks home someday with hot and cold running nurses.
My needs are simple.
Congrats Gryphen. You have every right to be proud of your talented daughter.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting G. I love those epic things that bring wonderment to a child's eyes, and adults too.
ReplyDeleteYou must be proud. Now that's a job I'm sure she loves to get up every morning for.
Congrats! Hope they'll be many many more. I would be more than proud too.
ReplyDeleteAin't nothing better than making your parents proud.
Dinosaurs? I'm there.
ReplyDeleteI'm a teacher so I'm going to have to start saving now for a movie ticket.
Proud papa!
ReplyDeleteGryphen,
ReplyDeleteCongrats! 3D film, coool. Look fwd. watching this movie with my daughter.
What an awesome experience for our Alaska girl! This is the big time...and a project to be proud ..The only thing I have to say about the shameless plug on Immoral Minority, is it deserves a better platform than along side our Caribou Barbie, on the other hand it was a refreshing break for your readership from the usual Palin antics..which reminds me what ever happened with the continuing sage, and the alluded forthcoming information about Trig' birth and parentage?
ReplyDeleteAwesome Project for our Alaska girl. What a great experience and a movie for a proud pappa to fluff his feathers about!! The only comment in regard to your shameless plug..the debut and preview deserves a better platform than alongside the Caribou Barbie, (I jokes) on the other hand it was a refreshing break from the usual Palin Antics..which reminds me I was going to ask whatever became of the forthcoming Trig information, all shrouded in mystery...Will we ever get to the bottom of the story!! I have been a follower of IM since the beginning of the Palin Saga, and admittedly am an addict seeking all the sordid details..this one is still the lingering "who dunnit", and I keep waiting to find out the rest of the story.
ReplyDeleteNothing shameless here....just well deserved pride! Love it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. You have every right to be proud.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Papa and Daughter!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot too shabby! Actually, it looks like a winner!!! You have every right to be proud, there's nothing better than seeing your kid succeed in doing something that she loves!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you both!
Gryphen, my son works as a set decorator/set designer. He loves his job just like your daughter! Maybe their paths will cross. Right now he's working on a Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon film in Wilmington, NC where he lives.
