Your early morning "Aw, that sweet!" for this first Wednesday in May.

Add President Barack Obama to the Jack Hoffman bandwagon.

Obama met Monday with Jack -- the 7-year-old brain cancer patient who became a national phenomenon after running for a 69-yard touchdown in the Husker spring game this month.

Obama spent about 15 minutes with Jack and his parents, little sisters Ava and Reese and former Husker Rex Burkhead, who joined the family after being drafted by the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

“It was awesome,” said Burkhead, who befriended Jack shortly after he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. “It was a great experience, to see the president interact with Jack, and it brings awareness to pediatric brain cancer, our cause and goal.”

Jack met with Obama in the Oval Office, where the president asked him to introduce his family, told him he had seen him on ESPN and was following his story, and gave him a football with the presidential seal and his autograph.

There are certainly things to criticize this President for, but a lack of humanity is definitely NOT one of them. The man has a huge heart, and it shows every time he is around Americans in need or our children.

Just in case you are one of the handful of people who have NOT seen Jack's touchdown run, this is for you.

Now THAT was sweet.

The amount of heart from BOTH teams was wonderful. Maybe I am blind, but I didn't see a single opposing team member on the field after the snap. It may have been more realistic if some of the blockers actually had to block a couple of times, but I am quite sure that to Jack the event was still perfect.

Wouldn't it be so nice if ALL of us could treat EACH OTHER this way ALL the time?

They were all Nebraska players...it was the spring game. But yeah, we've all seen the basketball videos where the autistic kid gets in the last game and scores...with both teams cheering him on. I think Jack is kind of the Nebraska mascot. It was a sweet thing to watch.

Thanks! I missed that aspect of the scene. Appreciate the update.

ANY way you look at it, though, it was fantastic!

  2. I’m generally not much for watching sports, but yeah, that was sweet. I see Jack is still wearing his 22.

And this president is building a whole new generation of Democrats.

Sousa is one of the best White House Photographers I've ever seen! Every picture he takes captures "the magic" our President has, especially when kids are involved.

Yeah, how can one's eyeballs not sweat after seeing this?
    Great Clip!
