Evangelical calls for Christians to martyr themselves in war to save America from "pagan onslaught." I don't think I like the sound of this.

This from World Net Daily:

“Throughout Scripture, the only power that can overcome the seemingly invincible omnipotence of a Babel or a Beast is the power of martyrdom, the power of the witness to King Jesus to the point of loss and death. American Christianity has not done a good job of producing martyrs, and that is because we have done such an outstanding job of nurturing Americanists who regret that they have only one life to give for their country. Americanists cannot break Babelic or bestial power because they cannot distinguish heretical Americanism from Christian orthodoxy. Until we do, America will lurch along the path that leads from Babel to Beast. If America is to be put in its place – put right – Christians must risk martyrdom and force Babel to the crux where it has to decide either to acknowledge Jesus an imperator and the church as God’s imperium or to begin drinking holy blood.”

The above is a quote from  Peter J. Leithart’s “Between Babel and the Beast.” This portion is not:

Where are the champions of Christ to save the nation from the pagan onslaught imposing homosexual marriage, homosexual scouts, 60 million babies done to death by abortion and red ink as far as the eye can see on America? Who will wage war for the Soul of America and trust the living God to deliver the pagan gods into our hands and restore America to her Judeo-Christian heritage and re-establish a Christian culture?

Let’s make it crystal clear: Those who embrace homosexual marriage and homosexual Scouting – or homosexuality in general – know little and practice nothing of Christianity. Notwithstanding Sen. Rob Portman – or the 1,400 Boy Scout delegates who buckled – Christian love is regulated not by impulse, but by principle. “We hence conclude, that not only the reprobates ought to be reproved, severely, and with sharp earnestness, but also the elect themselves, even those whom we deem to be children of God.” [John Calvin]

As to the future of America – and the collapse of this once-Christian nation – Christians must not only be allowed to have opinions, but politically, Christians must be retrained to war for the Soul of America and quit believing the fabricated whopper of the “Separation of Church and State,” the lie repeated ad nauseum by the left and liberals to keep Christian America – the moral majority – from imposing moral government on pagan public schools, pagan higher learning and pagan media. Bill Bennett’s insight, “… the two essential questions Plato posed as: Who teaches the children, and what do we teach them?” requires deep thought, soul-searching and a response from Christian America to the secular, politically correct and multicultural false gods imposing their religion on America’s children.

And just in case you were not certain where Lane was going with this, here is how he ended this psychotic commentary:

You ask, “What is our goal?” To wage war to restore America to our Judeo-Christian heritage with all of our might and strength that God will give us. You ask, “What is our aim?” One word only: victory, in spite of all intimidation and terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, America will ultimately collapse.

So essentially, according to this wingnut, America IS a Christian nation despite the words of the Founders themselves to the contrary, and the only hope for its salvation is for Christians to martyr themselves while waging war on...well on everybody else.

So as America becomes less and less a nation defined by its Christian faith, and our young people turn away from the prejudice and hatred embraced by their parents, the solution to that "problem," according to this lunatic, is to wage a holy war and FORCE their beliefs on people who do not readily accept them.

Who needs to worry about the Taliban? We apparently have our very own version right here in America.

Oh by the way just in case you think that the author's name, David Lane, sounds familiar, well it just might. You see he has worked with Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Michelle Bachmann, and Rand Paul, just to name a few. You see in certain circles this point of view is NOT considered insane.

WOW!! Talk about religious fervor. Which branch of the service was HE in, or was he too chicken to serve? Looking at his photo, I imagine he was popular with Marcus when he "worked" for Bachmann. I thought it was a woman in earings at first. The repubs., will not be satisfied until we are all cowed down under religious rule. He sounds deranged, which is a GOOD trait for a repub.

Hi Gryphen. I enjoy your blog. I am a liberal Left -wing Christian. i believe fully that Jesus is my Lord and savior. These cranks that you have dug up are perverting Christianity. Frankly, I dont believe for a minute that this is a sane person.
He clearly is not a follower of Jesus. If you ever read the books of Matthew Mark, or John, then there is no way that you can come out with anything but love in yout heart. These hateful, so called Evangelicals are nuts and clearly have no understanding of Jesus. There is no hate in Bible. God Bless Gryphen. But please know that these are just insane people. Also be more tolerant of Christians in general, we are not all crazy.

"There is no hate in the bible."

Read it again. This time honestly.

The OT is nothing BUT hate, ignorance and a vengeful, vicious god who murdered and destroyed at his whim; who espoused slavery and encouraged rape and pillaging and the destruction (TOTAL destruction) of those standing against his "chosen" people.

And before you claim that Jesus never taught that, remember two things. First, he was a rabbi. Second, he specifically stated (by your own bible) he was not here to break with the old laws.

I have no problem with persons having their own personal faith, but those in large organized religions (ANY of them) scare me! Like this guy.

I have said many times before that had the christian religion chosen to abandon the entire OT, things might have been totally different. Unfortunately, people like THIS a**hole adore the OT because it gives them "authority" to speak and act in exactly this manner.

Enjoy your faith. Please do. I'm happy for you. But I ask only one favor of you. Take off the blinders?

The thing is, it's not the bible. That's just a book and usually kept on the shelf. It's the idiots who believe what this man says, and the history of the expansion of Christianity, and of Christianity itself.

I think most Christians are nice people because I think most people are nice people. They're not nice because of their religion, they're nice anyway and would be regardless of their religion.

However, there is absolutely no doubt that Christianity in America has declined into a sideshow of clowns screeching death and damnation to anyone that doesn't believe (or say they believe) exactly what they do. I have read comments from people who say, "that isn't Christianity." As a nonChristian, who am I to say what is Christian or not? They say they are Christian, and I'm not seeing any major protest from what might be considered "mainstream" Christianity. It's NOT my job to figure out what's really Christian and what isn't. It's YOUR job to make that clear, and not just on a blog, but on the front page of every major newspaper and leading in every news program on TV. It's YOUR job to make a demonstration in favor of normal human beings and what YOU consider Christian.

The crazies have done it. So it CAN be done. I am forced to the conclusion that they are the dominating force in Christianity in this country... because there's really no public protest or outcry against them.

What's next for the "christians" of this ilk?

Are they going to round up the atheist scum like me, and force us AT GUNPOINT into re-education camps like Mao did in China?

Are the "christians" going to hire the NRA, biker gangs, skinheads, and the KKK to attack the rest of us and force us into religious slavery, churchgoing, and Sunday school?

If anyone out there does not believe the Vatican is behind much of this, I've got some under-water, marshy real estate in Florida I'd like to sell to you. The Catholic Church is losing members by the millions throughout Latin America, and is now trying desperately to convert America into a theocracy – one that is loaded with its 'values', and over which it will ultimately be openly pulling the strings.

He'll rile up the poor fools from LA, AL, GE, and Texas, and martyr them instead. Why isn't he calling for secession? Wouldn't it be less bloody to just start your own nation? I'm sure that any chruches you set up will be more than happy to doante their funds for your new roads, water systems, sewer plants, and non-pagan schools. That seems to be working so well from that gated commune in Idaho. Just like the church supports its communities now...by separating people, lying about their purpose to maintain their tax exemptions, brainwashing kids and the elderly, and generally being anything BUT the loving followers of a loving Jesus.
And by the way, Mr. Lane, Jesus was a peace advocate. Your words are not from him, but from the Devil.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

What part of the First Amendment does he not understand? It is straightforward and inarguable: no religion is supported by the government, but all religions are allowed to practice their teachings.

That means Christians can go about their business, but so can everyone else. Religion and the operations of government are and always have been separate.
Our Founding Fathers came from European countries that had established state religions, and that's one reason they fled to the New World and wrote the First Amendment, so that no one religion could dominate all citizens.
That's how it's been for almost 222 years, Mr.Lane, and that's how it's going to remain.

Republicans Reconsider Position As Marriage Wave Approaches

In the next few weeks, the Supreme Court will be issuing decisions in two major cases relating to same-sex couples’ marriage rights. With those decisions, addressing the constitutionality of part of the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 marriage amendment, the justices could change the conversation about gay rights in the country forever.

The question remains, however, what the immediate impact will be on the Republican Party, which has lagged behind the Democrats on support for LGBT rights measures.

“I don’t make policy for the party, but if you look at the numbers, it’s hard to imagine a circumstance where, 10 years down the road, opposition to same-sex marriage is a major part of the Republican Party. That’s because, how can you be opposed to something that 88 percent of people under the age of 30 are for?” said Alex Lundry, a Republican pollster and data analyst who served as the director of data science for the Romney campaign.

....Lundry was just as blunt. “This is a tidal wave of public opinion, and it’s headed directly for the Republican Party. We need to figure out exactly how we can reassess where we stand on this as a party in fitting with our conservative principles — and I think that there is a very straightforward conservative case for same-sex marriage,” he said.

“I think that there are plenty of conservatives who are re-evaluating their stance on this, and rightfully so. I personally believe that people should be doing it for the right moral and ideological reasons because I think it’s the right thing to do, but there’s also a much more practical and results-oriented rubric here that says, ‘These numbers show overwhelming support; it’s just getting bigger every year.’”

Why are so many "Christian" zealots overweight, if not obese, middle-aged men? Or overly made-up women who make themselves look like sexualized Barbies??

They look puffy, puffed-up, and just about to have sex with their choir director (male or female). They either act on their sexual drives (see Ted Haggard, Newt Gingrich, Jim Bakker, etc.), or they flirt, in the name of religion (see Tammy Faye Bakker, Michele Bachmann, and Sarah Palin).

As far as we know, Jesus didn't overdo it on carbs, but got plenty of exercise, walking everywhere. He was meek and mild, and wanted to convert people by his example, of love, charity and hope.

"Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in heaven." That means: be as good as you can be, quietly and prayerfully, and people will notice that your good behavior is caused by your beliefs. Then they might try those beliefs themselves. Please see: the Beatitudes.

Jesus was non-violent, peaceful, calm and loving. He didn't own weapons and wouldn't use them. Anyone who advocates a religious war does not know what being a Christian means. The nasty words that come out of the mouths of these "Christianists" prove they haven't read the Bible. They are frauds, using their cult following to build up their own power with a make-believe religion of their own creation.

They don't use their power to help their fellow man, but to fleece him. They are the definition of the anti-Christ.
