During Monday’s coverage of jury selection, Jarrett and Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle observed that Zimmerman had gained weight since his arrest in April 2012.
“He does look like a different guy,” Jarrett remarked. “It looks like he’s put on a hundred pounds. Look, he has been in hiding and he fears for his life, and there have been all kinds of death threats. And, you know, he can’t go anywhere, can’t get out and get exercise.”
“Probably suffering from stress and anxiety,” Guilfoyle added.
“You eat when you’re under stress and pressure and stuff like that,” Jarrett agreed. “So, you know, he’s already been punished to some extent. We’ll wait and see whether a Jury punishes him further.”
Yes it is pretty clear that Zimmerman has been packing on the pounds.
However since when has ANY Fox News host ever equated being fat with being punished?
I mean have they seen their average viewer?
No being well fed with three square meals a day provided by the state is definitely NOT an appropriate punishment for taking the life of an unarmed teenager.
However being locked in a cage for the remainder of his life, might be.
And going from the sublime to the ridiculous, one recent Fox News guest even went to far as to suggest that Trayvon Martin WAS potentially armed. You know with iced tea.
Defense strategy—makes him look less threatening and dangerous.
ReplyDeleteBut you can't change the stupid look on his face.
DeleteYep, same thing I was thinking, WN. The defense is trying to make him into this doughy white guy who was no match for the black brute that was Trayvon Martin.
DeleteI certainly hope this piece of excrement gets some serious time. I'm not at all shocked at how much Fox 'Not Necessarily' News is bending over backward to make Trayvon Martin out to be the bad guy when he's the one dead in a coffin while his ass clown killer gets to smirk through the trial. Apparently today some ex-NYPD cop said Martin would still be alive if he didn't have a 'street attitude.' I thought, no, he'd still be alive if some wannabe cop, who'd been told not to pursue, hadn't hunted him down and killed him.
Also, no beard and mustache, or shaved head.
DeleteLooks a lot different in a suit and tie, not a black t-shirt.
But they'll always portray Martin as a black kid in a hoodie -- a threatening image to most of the jurors, even if they don't admit it.
Meantime, more mental masturbation from the wingers. Let's pass a law!
ReplyDeleteDisplaying Ten Commandments in schools is part of 'censorship' bill in Michigan Legislature
LANSING -- A bill authorizing the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools alongside the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence was introduced in the Michigan Senate and will be debated by a Senate panel Wednesday.
Sen. Patrick Colbeck (R-Canton) is sponsoring two bills that would ban censorship of "America's founding documents" by public schools and require civics and American history education during "Constitution Week." He introduced Senate Bill 423 on Tuesday.

I'm in MI, and we are close to a fundie takeover here. Instead of working on jobs or fixing our roads (which would create thousands of jobs) they passed a bill requiring a US flag in every classroom. Since Snyder cut school funds to pay for corporate tax breaks, local VFWs paid for the required flags. And since when is the 10 Commandments a 'founding document?' I think Mr. Colbeck needs to read some history himself.
DeleteFirst, they will engrave it, making it a graven image. Second, they will lie about it. Third, they will try to steal power away from democrats. Fourth, they will exalt themselves (and not God) as little gods, exerting their power in every realm on earth. Fifth, they will covet everything they do not own, including political power. Sixth, they will disrespect their parents and all earthly authority. That just about covers it. The engraved rock/s will be an ongoing testimony against them.
DeleteAnon, you and fellow common sense patriots of time tested constitutional truths have to not sit down and shut up about jobs over The Bible. Good luck to you.
DeleteOT, but thought you'd like to know that you have been linked to today by Wonkette (article about Rand Paul aide David Lane).

Don't you think you are distorting what he said. He said he had endured some punishment, but he ne er said he had been punished "enough" for his crime.
ReplyDeleteHe said something very stupid. What was going through this moron's brain? Getting fat isn't punishment.
DeleteWhy didn't George buy himself a stationary bike with some of that money from his paypal account?
Yah, my heart breaks for good ol' Zimm and all he's endured. Maybe we should all chip in our juice money and get him a treadmill?
Delete/sarc
Using this logic, then O.J. Simpson should be released immediately since he got fat in prison.I wonder what Ailes, Rove, Gingrich and other fat guys are being punished for?
DeleteZimmerman should have been in jail since the day he killed Trayvon Martin and the trial should have taken place months ago. A lot of fancy footing by Zimmerman's father and his father's friends have caused all of the delay so I have no sympathy whatsoever for this murderer.
DeleteBeaglemom
imagine if martin had been caucasion, then the reichwing_tards would be calling for the hispanic zimmermann's nut sak
ReplyDelete"Yes it is pretty clear that Zimmerman has been packing on the pounds."
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Trayvon's family wished that Trayvon was home today eating home cooked meals and putting on weight too.
I recall there was discussion about why Trayvon's body was tested for drugs, but Zimmerman was not tested for drugs. I also recall photos of Zimmerman going to jail accompanied by cops with huge zip-lock bags of prescription medications, and mention that some of the drugs were for ADHD (amphetamines). I believe Zimmerman was taking amphetamines for weight control at the time of the murder. It would explain both his hyped-up state of mind during the murder, and also his obesity now.
ReplyDeleteHe also said his nose was broken and had head wounds, blood, none of which were evident on after shots.
DeleteYeah I heard that racist lie too. he said he could use his iced tea "bottle" as a weapon by breaking off the top. Thing is Trayvon had a "can" of iced tea, gotdamn faux news pundit clowns.
ReplyDeleteNotice how these racist turn it around that Trayvon is the agressor. Trayvon could have done this, Trayvon could have done that or what if Trayvon...
These assholes know zimmerman killed that young man in cold blood.
zimmerman had no business stopping Trayvon, no business talking to Trayvon, no business hunting Trayvon down and no business shooting the poor unarmed young man.
Another thing zimmerman lawyer is one shyster piece of shit. he is choosing the jury by asking questions about what they may have heard or seen about the murder. So each juror is telling lies, rumors and tales that they may have heard about the case. This is infecting the rest of the jurors. And zimmerman's lawyer knows this. he is playing every little dirty trick in the book.
zimmerman is guilty as sin.
The one holding the gun isn't yelling for help.
I've come to accept that HuffPo has taken a very wide right turn however I was still dumbstruck reading RW comments regarding the trial. Half of them would never have made it past the mods in the 'olden' days. Not because they weren't liberal leaning but because they were dripping with threats, outright, obvious lies, flagrant bigotry and extreme fear-mongering. The saddest part is they are beginning to sway even a fair number of 'reasonable' people. I've heard a few comments (and jokes ?) from within my work world that have caused me to rethink a few of these 'friendly-ships'.
DeleteI hope Z keeps gaining weight and I hope he pops. I prefer a bit of 'self-deportation' in his case cause I don't think he will see much, if any, jail time if they manage to convict him of anything at all. Also wouldn't be the least surprised if he gets WP plan or taxpayer paid security if he walks. We are living in crazy times after all.
What kind of country do we live in, when a young man of color can not even walk to the store safely? Imagine how the parents of young black men must feel on a daily basis? Now parents of all races have to worry about sending their kids to college, with all the weapons available to nut jobs.
DeleteI'm assuming the state is going to be able to present the vast amounts of evidence of GZ's prior violence. He had been arrested for assault several times before and allegedly lost his jobs as a bouncer for beating up a woman. I hope all this evidence gets presented, which is, let's face it, about 800 kajillion times more relevant than whether Trayvon filmed some homeless people or smoked pot. As I like to say, almost everyone has smoked pot -- including our last three presidents -- not a lot of people end up getting a restraining order taken out against them and very few people get arrested for assault.
DeleteThis is just shit to talk about because there's no real news right now. It's even more lame than the stupid "scandals" that "those people" have tried to perpetuate. I'm trying my best to get worked up over it, but it's a legal case now, not a tv courtroom drama. The jury and judge will either get it right or do their best trying to make the best decision. Hopefully both legal teams have been able to narrow the jury pool to those who are more likely to listen to the evidence instead of talking heads at either extreme of the fringes.
ReplyDeleteLet's talk about Sarah's bald head and bulbous forehead hidden by her bangs that she copied from Michelle Obama. You know, important stuff. Sadly, I'm not being completely glib about choosing the two subjects. If Sarah ever had her day in court to defend herself regarding her crimes in cronyism, tax evasion, fraud, misuse of public funds, etc., I'd be happy to sit back and let the justice system do its job. But until she's indicted, there's no reason to give her a waking moment of peace. Because I KNOW some of the things she's gotten away with to this point that the justice department should have a shot at proving. I just hope they won't allow her to settle before discovery is complete. Strictly my opinion, albeit an informed opinion.
Where did you get this picture of the guy in the scooter? Is he a known republican/fox viewer?
ReplyDeleteIf not, it's in pretty bad taste to post it, imho.
What are the chances any of us know him? He is legion and perfectly suited to represent a Fox viewer. This is a blog, not a vetted article with Sarah Palin's killer journalism skills.
DeleteWhether or not 'we' know him is not the point.
DeleteHis picture was posted with a pretty denigrating comment of what a typical Fox viewer looks like.
Kinda uncool if you don't know the guy. IMHO.
Fat stupid slob...eating his way to innocence. What an ugly Fuck!
ReplyDeleteGZ was soft long before he was pudgy. General population in the pokey is what he needs to toughen him up into a man. But I do hear that the pedos might have a difficult adjustment period.
DeleteHey Georgie, squeal like a pig. Weeee! Weeee! You got some perty teeth, boy...
ReplyDeleteYeah, Poor George has gained weight. It must be such a challenge hiding inside all the time with nothing to do but exercize your jaw. I watched a little of the jury selection process on HLN, the man's lawyers are still kvetching that they didn't have enough time to do research, and the judge set her foot down.
ReplyDeleteThen they wanted to change his curfew from ten pm to eleven pm. The poor fella's blood sugar might drop and he needs the extra time to graze.
One potential juror, an african american resident of the condo where Treyvon was living, said she doesn't own a television, the only access she has to the internet is at work and it's strictly for work, not for surfing the news. Zimmerman's lawyer asked a blatantly racist question, something to do with how many African Americans don't have cable access plus all the premium channels?" The look on the judge's face said it all, but the decision will be made tomorrow.
Treyvon's parents have held themselves with so much dignity and grace. He was a normal teen who had some minor issues, yet Zimmerman's team keeps painting him as a thug, intimidating African American potential jurors and trying every trick in the book to taint the jury pool.
I hope the judge "stands her ground" and gets justice for this young man and his family. But we're talking Florida where Casey Anthony got away with murder.
Gaining weight is the last of Zimmerman's problem. He's on record ignoring the dispatcher's orders to not follow, stalk, hunt and kill Treyvon. Skittles and a can of soda always lose to a wannabe cop with a loaded gun and paranoid mind.
Or George is on meds that are puffing him up.
ReplyDeleteCasey Anthony got death threats too, so did OJ. Not that I agree with it, but it happens all the time. No one called Anthony or OJ a victim because they were vilified and no one said they had suffered enough because of it. This is so sad. It's like Treyvon's life was worth nothing in their eyes. No talk about justice for Treyvon or for his parents. No talk about Zimmerman's history of aggression, including towards a police officer. If Zimmerman is set free we've taken a huge step back as a nation.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if Treyvon had used his iced tea as a weapon (as ridiculous as that is) wouldn't he have been entitled to since someone he didn't know was coming at him with a gun? Wouldn't that have been "standing his ground"? Or are only non-blacks allowed to defend themselves in the state of Florida?
