This just in, Kirk Cameron knows NOTHING about being an Atheist.

So the two things that you MUST cling to by faith to be a good Atheist is that "there is no god" and "you hate him. " So sayeth a man with NO understanding of what motivates the Atheist community.

And as nutty as that sounds the explanation for "why" we supposedly have those two tenets of faith is even more ridiculous.

For the record Atheists don't hate things they don't believe in, though they may get a little testy with those attempting to impose their beliefs on them.

You know, like though a batshit crazy movie like this one.

I have not yet seen the film, and I don't know anybody who has, but here is one person's impression based on the trailer:

The film is ostensibly the story of how Cameron uncovered the truth about God and why bad things happen in a world where God exists. He claims to have all the proof and that we can follow him along on his journey. Pretty impressive given people have been searching for this "proof" forever.

Regardless, it's not the story that is so insane here. It's his eyes ... yikes. I will never forget his eyes.

Yeah personally I feel that if you are trying to convince people of the reasonableness of your argument you may not want to appear as if you just escaped from a mental health facility.

I don't know who would expect the kid from Growing Pains to finally answer the age old questions that prove the existence of God, but I imagine that they are few and far between, and I would have to seriously question their mental health as well.

Some of you may remember Cameron's last attempt to prove the existence of God, with the help of his pal Ray Comfort, using a banana.

"When bad things happen to good people" by Harold S. Kushner
Poor Kurt he can't even come up with something original, isn't it stealing to use someone else's idea? At the very least it is lazy....

Fear and deceit is all these Evangelical Christians have. Don't ask questions just do as your told, and everyone else is going to hell. There I think I covered it what they believe in...

Once upon a time, they traveled the country and put up a tent, preached, and passed the plate. Today, they make a film and sell tickets. Same deal only with air-conditioning. The heat comes later if you don't buy into their deal, Or so they say.

All Cameron has proven is that de-evolution is real.

De-evolution: a species reverts to a more primitive state of being.
Mission accomplished Kurt you just proved that evolution is real or in this case de-evolution....

I love it when the best the anti-Atheist crowd can do is propose a strawman argument.

Laughable - let him talk: Cameron's own arguments are the best reason to turn away from his nutty belief system.

  7. Who is Kirk Cameron and why should we care?

How can you hate something you don't believe in? I could care less about the whole religion thing. My issues with christianity isn't their god, it's the way they try to shoves him down my throat. And I suppose I've got a few resentments about the way they convert people - convert or die doesn't sound real christian to me.

Someone get that guy a banana.

(not an atheist, though, because atheists don't understand the wonder and godliness of a banana)

Um, ...How can one hate what does not exist?

I do NOT have FAITH there is no god. I simply do not BELIEVE there is one. Just a wee difference.

"...bad things happen in a world where god exists..." because of the so-called holy books that form their religions and act as their guide. They generally teach hatred, fear, bigotry, slavery, intolerance, misogyny, non-acceptance of things that are counter to the books, murder and so on and so on and so on and....

Oh! And the fact that people use their holy books as justification when they do those things themselves!

For the record, I hate nothing. On the other hand, there are a fair number of things I DESPISE. Among them? Idiots who think they KNOW. Proselytizing. STUPIDITY! Hatred. Bigotry.

    You know. Organized religion?

I hate alot of things. Mostly concepts , systems or processes. Not many people. I guess despise is a better word for people.

Ignorance and fear are easily molded into intolerance and hate.....the modus operandi of organized religions.

I don't hate God because I'm not sure there is one. I DO hate the idea of using a belief in God as a cover for bigotry, misogyny and greed.

What I have a problem with these so called religionist, when they say " let God pick your mate, God has a say in who wins any sports game, wars, he's on a certain sides, and both are praying to God for victory! He manages your business ect. ect. Where is he when little children are getting raped , by his so called people? or all those bad things happening. To me that proves just the opposite.

  15. He should stick to making banana videos. Saying an atheist hates God is like saying they hate pink unicorns. How can you hate something you believe does not exist? They're good and bad in all people. It isn't your beliefs but your actions and words that matter.

  16. Oh my I didn't even watch the video before commenting. He does look quite mad. I am familiar with born again Christians. Now don't jump on me Christians. I have a few in my family and they will smile at you with wide open eyes and say " so sorry you are going to hell." Uh yeah OK. Does not make for happy family gatherings.

They go to a busy street in my city with signs proclaiming the end times. They cause traffic jams and have been stopped by the police due to this. Of course they think they are being prosecuted for their faith. Sometimes it is fun to drive by and listen to them. Then I go back to feeling sorry for them as they do really live in constant fear. I don't understand where God is a comfort to them?

I'm not saying he doesn't need and want the paycheck, but he really believes this stuff (which makes him an even bigger schmuck).

"God" is a product of reification overlaid by personification. There are real underlying phenomena, but they are consequences of the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, the structure of human societies, …, not the conscious actions of a self-aware personality. Nor do these phenomena provide support for the fantastical belief structures that people have erected upon them.

  20. I asked Kirk how someone could hate a person that does really not exist.

I don't know about anyone else, but to me, Kirk seemed to have some level of difficulty sitting on the stool next to some dude in the wilderness, demonstrating the amazing "God exists because a banana fits perfectly in a man's hand" theory.

    Growing Pains, perhaps?

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to
be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that
they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail
upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect
, people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.

    Thanks
