Now in the boy's defense he DID allude to the fact that Obama gets his powers from God and did not suggest that he was God himself. He simply thanked him for using his God given powers foo good.
However the Right Wing does not see it this way and, as I have seen in four or five websites so far today, are making the allegation that "liberals" are teaching children to worship President Obama in place of God:
Liberals really have taken it to the next level this time. This is beyond disgusting and these people are unfit parents. It is truly a sad state of our society.
You know it could simply be a young African American boy expressing his admiration for the first President that he can relate to in the only way that he feels appropriate.
Oh wait, that's logic. The Right Wing does not do logic. What was I thinking?
Update: The first place where I stumbled onto this video was over at our friend Joe Miller's blog. He recently stated in a speech during the Iowa Family Leadership Summit, that President Obama is “engaged in a form of systematic spiritual and religious apartheid.”
So essentially the message is that President Obama is pulling a Kim Jong-il and having himself deified while attempting to destroy Christianity in this country, all while punishing those who refer to themselves as Christians.
And the sad fact is is that there is a very undereducated, hyper religious, government mistrusting segment of the population is that is ready and willing to believe that is true.
You may know them as the Republican base.
The Republican party is a mess! They'll grab at anything - even when it can be proven they are saying the wrong thing.
ReplyDeleteHow many times has this happened since President Obama first ran for the presidency? They have NOT learned a damned thing and are going to be doomed AGAIN for another eight years! Just watch!
C'mon, Mr. Fancy Pants Librul Alaska blogger!! Stories like this are just lamestream media smokescreens (aka streamscreens, I suppose....) AND YOU KNOW IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHere's is the REAL story of the day: "According to Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-TX), House Republicans have the votes to impeach the President. At a town hall meeting in Luling, Texas on Saturday, the two-term congressman was caught on camera saying “if we were to impeach the President tomorrow, you could probably get the votes in the House of Representatives to do it. But it would go to the Senate and he wouldn’t be convicted.” "
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/08/13/congressman-says-majority-in-house-to-impeach-obama.html
That's right, buddy boy!! Your so-called President Obama is going DOWN and going down hard!!! It's his own damn fault, too!!
What magical thinking let Obama believe he could run AS A CENTRIST DEMOCRAT, WIN THE ELECTION and then GOVERN AS A CENTRIST DEMOCRAT?????? HELLO????? No wonder the right wing morans call him O-dumb-o!!
I'm pretty sure Obama's impeachment, imprisonment and execution can't be stopped at this point (BENGHAZI!!! BENGHAZI!!!! THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!) but his ONLY chance at mercy is to immediately start governing like a SEVERE CONSERVATIVE DOUCHEBAG!!
Remember, part of being an exceptional christian nation is that the whiniest losers have a GOD-GIVEN right to govern no matter what the election results are.
AND BY THE GODS, you had better believe the American Far Right Wing Uber-Conservatives are the whiniest goddamn sons of bitches ever to walk the earth!!
Sure, they may not be smart, they may not be responsible, they may be selfish and they may be dishonest...
DONT YOU OR ANY OF THE TINY HANDFUL OF SOCIALIST DEADENDERS ON THIS DEFUNCT BLOG FORGET IT!!
And have a nice day.
You're off by one post Beldar.
DeleteYou are looking for the post right below this one.
Coneheads can't aim.
Conehead: For Christ's sake, get a grip! President Obama isn't going anywhere - he will not be impeached or executed! You really are going off the deep end! Dream on you idiot!
Delete"You're off by one post"
DeleteSay, Gryphen - if that's your real name, which every fiber of my being tells me it is not - when have I ever let being on the wrong post stop me before?
or since?
And while you're at it, go ahead and let 224pm know "Beldar" isn't who I am, it's just what I do.
Beldar! Fabulous as always.

Gryphen -
DeletePlease forgive our cranially challenged friend for being on the wrong post. Hyperventilating does tend to fog up the monitor. Also. Too.
Dearest Beldar -
Close your eyes and imagine yourself being gently cradled against the perpetually-changing bosom of your beloved Empress Sarah (which may also be used as flotation devices in case of a water landing) and you'll feel much better in a moment.
@552
DeleteNot to start a flame war - based on your careless reading, no less - but, Ive stated MANY times on the record and under oath, also, too: I wouldnt touch the Screechy Wretch's(tm) twitchy bosom with YOUR tragically boring human-shaped noggin, let alone with my own majestically impressive conical skull!
Empress Sarah, my boney ass!!
Anon @ 5:32 - get a clue, and a sense of humor.
DeleteFirst of all, Tawd? Or is it you Sarah?
DeleteYou can only impeach a president that has broken the laws(Like GOP Nixon), it doesn't matter how many times you and your Canadian Cruz rattle your racist bibles.
6:54 -
DeleteUmmm...the "can be used as flotation devices" didn't give you a hint?
Beldar -
I humbly apologize and beg for forgiveness from your Supreme Coneheadedness. The rapid inflation-deflation rate would likely give one a whopping case of whiplash anyway.
But, if God is on their side, why does it matter what one little boy does?
ReplyDeleteGod certainly doesn't.
It sounds as though they aren't so certain that "He" is a racist, conservative wing nut. If he's not, then they'd better run for the exits of their churches.
If he is, well, then no worries.
These is all coming from the extreme right of the Republican party and they are embarrassing and making things very tough for the rest of the party.
ReplyDeleteThis type crap is going to make Republicans lose seats across the nation and it's way past time these extreme folks on the 'red' side be shut up by their own party! The top guys don't have the balls to do it! John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are good starts, but it ain't gonna happen!
Unfortunately virtually all Republicans fall into the "extreme right" category any more.
DeleteBeaglemom
"is going to make Republicans lose seats across the nation"
DeleteWe can only hope. Unfortunately, far too many voters are so conditioned to pull the lever for the name with the 'R' next to it that they don't pay any attention to the wingnuttery being spewed by these lunatics.
Obviously, if these parents are encouraging the child to pray, then they believe in God. As such, they had an opportunity to discuss the difference between praying FOR someone, and praying TO someone. In this case, they chose to put the video online, for the world to see. I don't agree with their choice, as I wouldn't want to give the world an opportunity to ridicule my child.I wish him the best, however, and hope that the parents discuss things.
ReplyDeleteOne of the faults that I find with President Obama is his faith. I wish that he could overcome this, although I think he just has to toe that "religious line" because so many voters, left, right and center expect a President to be a christian. I personally see it as a weakness, but then again, as an atheist I'm in the minority. I know Mr. Obama is not a stupid person, but sometimes I see him as so intelligent that he must just be using this churchy thing as a device to pander to the faithful and it upsets me as I hold him in higher esteem than one that would believe in myths and stories.
ReplyDeleteI happen to agree with you. I DO think that he toes that line, only for the votes. His pastor that he attended for SO very long, yet had NO idea that he believed in such drastic terms...I forget-was it Jeramiah Wright? He's hardly been at all, since he started in office? It is obvious he's not serious.
DeleteThis is one of the many reasons I find him incencere.
Lots of people who are not "stupid" have a religious side to them. Until President Obama, no one complained that a president attended church or made a few Biblical references. He's done absolutely nothing to IMPOSE his personal religious views on anyone else. I find it offensive to think that his having a personal religious faith is seen as his having a "fault."
DeleteAnd, by the way, the Obamas attend the Episcopal church that is just across from the White House. I daresay that they attend church much more frequently than, say Sarah Palin, who likes to prattle on about religion constantly.
Beaglemom
Yeah, I had an exchange with a whacko teabagger today, wearing a placard that called President Obama a cracker, and when I confronted him, proceeded to claim the President was gay. Too bad the light changed.
ReplyDeleteThat's almost blasphemy, according to that propaganda site linked above. I'd rather see a child pray openly from his heart than "grown" people suggesting that " God won't let the right candidate lose".
ReplyDeleteAnd the constitution they hold so dear states there should be a separation of church and state. They tossed the same bullshit when JFK ran for office, he had to do a speech that if he became president, the pope would have no influence on his decisions.
Those lying, hypocritical fucktards are full of shit. Take a look at this.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theguardian.com/world/2006/sep/29/usa.danglaister
Didn't all those conservatives pray that God would put the correct person in the office of the US Presidency? So if they do have a God, then God has spoken, for 2 elections in a row.
ReplyDeleteGOP are avoiding town hall meetings, they are scared to death of the Tea Party Monsters they've created!
ReplyDeleteA Former Engine of the G.O.P., the Town Hall Meeting, Cools Down
...With memories of those angry protests still vivid, it seems that one of the unintended consequences of a movement that thrived on such open, often confrontational interactions with lawmakers is that there are fewer members of Congress now willing to face their constituents.

They tossed the identical bullshit when JFK ran for office, he had to do a talk that if he became president, the pope would have no influence on his decisions.

What does he mean by "spiritual and religious apartheid"? Just throwing in a word that conveys something bad, like "apartheid," to scare people is stupid. If Joe Miller cannot explain himself further about this, he should simply be ignored.
ReplyDeleteI'm so tired of Republicans calling President Obama a "socialist," a "communist," a "racist," a "Nazi," a "fascist" without the least explanation of their reasons or any factual support for what they are saying. Next he'll be accused of forming a White House branch of the KKK! I suppose it appeals to their base but, if the Republicans want to "reach out" and appeal to more people, they have to get rid of the scare language and the lies and get interested in good policy that helps everyone, not just the 1%.
Beaglemom
How about the fact that it was the Dens in the south that were members of the KKK, and that it WAS the Dems that tried to keep segregation, and DEMS that fought against the NRA when it was started with the main purpose of makingguns available to everyone, as the constitution states, and therefore even the playing field?!?
DeleteHow's that for reaching out?
Anon at 7:09 am. While modern liberal Democrats thrived in the northern states, the Southern Dems (as you call them) morphed very quickly into the GOP as soon as segregation started to fall apart, from the late 1950's. Do you recall how much they hated President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy? And it was Richard Nixon (of the mid-century GOP) who created the "Sourthern strategy" which was to lure these segregationists to the GOP using very subtle racism. The GOP "Southern strategy" continues on; the only difference is that today the racism is blatant rather than subtle. Twenty-first century Southern Democrats are not racists.
DeleteBeaglemom
I must disagree , Beagle mom. I Do think that they are racist. The moment someone disagrees with the Pres, screams start-- It is racism!!! And no one even stops to hear if a good point is made, or not. Even on this blog, if one person disagrees, they are cursed, and belittled, sometimes racial slurs are also used. You may not be one, but neither am I. But a lot of people are too eager to assume.
