Police chief in George Zimmerman's city expresses concern that he might be dangerous.

Courtesy of NBC News:

The police chief in the Florida city where George Zimmerman lives expressed concerns Thursday that Zimmerman remains able to carry a gun, even after repeated run-ins with police following his acquittal this summer in the Trayvon Martin killing.

“I’m a small-town police chief. If I had the authority to revoke his firearm license, I would certainly sit down and consider that,” Steve Bracknell, the chief of police in Lake Mary, said during a telephone interview with NBC News.

“Does anyone else except me see a pattern?” Bracknell continued. “The word firearm keeps popping up.”  (Nope I don't think he is alone in recognizing that pattern.)

Bracknell's officers responded Monday to a domestic dispute between Zimmerman and his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, who told a 911 dispatcher that Zimmerman had threatened her with a gun and punched her father in the nose.

Police reports released Wednesday — with the Zimmermans’ names redacted — provided conflicting accounts of the argument. Police said no gun was found on George Zimmerman -- and his wife and other witnesses later said they had not actually seen a firearm. No charges have been filed.

But in an email exchange reported Thursday by the website Think Progress, Bracknell told a concerned citizen that Zimmerman had a gun in his car.

“We did not have the authority to search his truck. He DID have a firearm in the truck. Having a firearm is not a violation of Florida law,” Bracknell wrote.

The chief also wrote in response to the citizen's suggestion that police in Florida were covering for Zimmerman, "REST ASSURED, the last thing on planet earth I want is ANY relationship with the Zimmermans. PERIOD."

Okay well that is good news as it appears that Zimmerman has absolutely freaked out  the police chief who will no doubt now keep a very cautious eye on him.

I am still not clear as to why the police could not search his car IF his wife felt threatened and believed that he had that weapon in his possession? However I guess since he did not brandish it or point it at her it would not have made any difference even if they had found one in the vehicle.

Gee where is police brutality when you really need it?

(Yes I recognize that it is not appropriate to wish police brutality on anybody, but ask yourself this, "Is there anybody more deserving of a good working over?" I'm just saying.)

  2. Later reports say the Trayvon Martin shot in the back comment was an "inaccuracy".

Too bad he (Zimmerman) doesn't live in, say Ketchikan. Someone there would take him out fishing and come back alone. Ketchikan divorce.

the police chief has since 'walked back" his comments. Must have been bought off.

As far as searching his truck...if it had been a marijuana cigarette, they would have been all over it.

UPDATE 1:38 PM EST, 9/14/13: In response to our inquiry, Alternet reporter Rod Bastanmehr apologized for the “potential inaccuracy” in his report which alleged that Dr. Shiping Bao claimed George Zimmerman shot Trayvon in the back.

    He didn't say that.

The 'National Report" that Shellie Zimmerman was arrested for broken IPad is a LIE. The pictures are from her 2012 arrest for perjury when she covered for George and said they hadn't received any donor funds.

Whether they think that he got away with murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin or that he was just a brave neighborhood watch volunteer "standing his ground," many Americans can't seem to get enough of George Zimmerman. And he can't seem to stop giving it to them.

So it's hardly surprising that everything Zimmerman does produces a Twitterverse explosion and spins out into heavy news coverage. Comedian Deon Cole nailed it during an appearance on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" a couple of days after the July 13 verdict. Merely being found not guilty, he said of Zimmerman, "doesn't mean that you're a free man."

He certainly hasn't been free from the spotlight.

    _Two stops for speeding.

_A cellphone photo of a smiling Zimmerman touring the Florida factory where the 9 mm semi-automatic pistol used in the February 2012 shooting was made.

_And, this week, police dash-cam footage of Zimmerman kneeling in the street to be cuffed after an alleged scuffle with his estranged wife and father-in-law.

Like gangster Al Capone going to Alcatraz for tax evasion and O.J. Simpson serving time for robbing some sports memorabilia dealers, some interpret this series of unfortunate events as part of some cosmic comeuppance for a wannabe cop.

But is he a kind of George Ziggy-man, perpetually stalked by storm clouds, or more like one of those California wildfires, creating his own weather patterns?

Seems like a little bit of both, according to crisis management expert Mark McClennan.

"How does he keep resetting his 15 minutes of fame?" said the Boston-area consultant, who's on the Public Relations Society of America's board of directors. "I'd say it's a two-way street."

Well, that was a rousing endorsement for Zimmipoo! Where the hell was this guy the night Zimmipoo was treated like a primadonna before and during his arrest?

I know the "shot in the back" part was "walked back", but the media needs to do a better job before publishing things like this. Hasn't the Martin Family been through enough?

OT. TLC has a new reality show. I swear to dog!

"Alaskan Women Looking For Love". A horde of love starved "babes" are unleashed on Miami Beach, one runs her hands all over some surfer dude's chest after asking him

"How many Packs do you have there?"

One is interviewed and says "Gee. It would be nice to get all dressed up and wear heels and do "girly things" hee hee hee"

  9. I apologize for leaving "the shot in the back" portion on the headline.

I actually removed it from the body of the post before I published it, but totally forgot I put it in the headline.

Some days I really need an editor.

    1. That 'Trayvon shot in the back' headline made my blood run cold, Gryphen, like almost nothing else I've ever seen here.

It's probably for the best it doesn't appear that it's true.

      And yet.....

maybe your blood wouldn't run cold if you actually read the autopsy report, the witness testimonies on the stand(of people that witnessed trayvon on top of zimmerman throwing punches- and zimmerman appearing bloodied and beaten), and the police reports first, instead of reading a bunch of blogs pushing fictional claims.

if you had read the autopsy report for instance, you would already know that the entrance was left chest, direction front to back, no exit wound- ie the bullet never left the body- one wound- on the front.

no offense gryph- your opinion on this case is no secret- but i am actually surprised you didnt even know the bullet trajectory noted in the autopsy before throwing it up on the headline. your passion is great, but sometimes your cause gets ahead of you.

He's going to kill again. Why not? He got away with it one time. Within 5 years and most likely within 2 years. He got a rush, he got attention, he got money, he got away with it.

There's no reason for him not to do it again.

Exactly. We have not heard the last of him. He is a ticking time bomb. He got away with murdering an unarmed kid in cold blood, and he relished in that.
