Keg stands. That's one way to promote Obamacare, it seems.
"Brosurance," reads a new web ad that shows a few bros having a good time. "Keg stands are crazy. Not having health insurance is crazier. Don't tap into your beer money to cover those medical bills. We got it covered."
The Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and ProgressNow Colorado Education launched the web ad, along with a series of other meme-like images that target young residents in Colorado, as well as Latino families–two demographics that tend to lack health insurance.
The ads are modeled after the successful "Got Milk?" campaign, with each image saying, "Got Insurance?"
Other ads feature mountain climbers, kayakers and cyclists. The health groups are trying to appeal to "our own Colorado twist," says Jenny Davies-Schley, of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative.
The idea is to make the images go viral, and each ad is easily sharable through a number of different social media agents, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Or blogs, don't forget blogs.
Can I just say that this marks the first time ever, that I have been jealous of Coloradans.
Brilliant campaign, and it makes me really WANT to sign up for their health care.
My 57 year old sister is there, angry that she can't keep her high deductible plan that she rarely uses, and hates Obama to the core. Her 66 year old husband is, of course taking his SS checks and Medicare with no issues. She will probably not even browse the great CO site, because she does not want to be 'shoved into a government plan.' Oh, and when questioned, she will assure you that she really hates 'all' parties, and that she nevr listens to Rush, but that Glenn Beck's predictions always come true. God, my family!
ReplyDeleteit's not just your family. My company has an office in Colorado, and I hate working with those people because they're all ignorant right-wing mouth-breathers.
DeleteWhere in Colorado is your office?
DeleteColorado Springs.
Deletelol, that explains everything. cs, greeley and grand junction have an abundance of wingnuts. cs is the worst. it has always been ultra conservative because of the high military population..with the onslaught of buybull thumping wack-a-doodles led by focus on your own damn family in the 90's they went totally off the rails. I live in a town west of cs and I drive to Denver to shop, I refuse to spend my money in that den of intolerant hypocrites. the editor of the opinion page of the local rag is the former editor of soldier of fortune magazine..the gun nuts recently recalled john morse as he was one of many in the state government who agreed there should be restrictions of number of rounds in a magazine and background checks are a good idea.
Deletecs lags behind the rest of the state in employment and economic recovery as no young people have any desire to live in such an "unprogressive" area. they town has been doug bruced in that no one ever wants any tax increases. so the storm drain issues persist and were exceptionally bad this past summer because of the burn scar from the previous summer's waldo canyon fire and the torrential rain we had late this summer..we're going on our 3rd or 4th year of not having city parks maintained, trash cans have been removed as they won't pay to have them emptied. park restrooms are locked as there isn't enough city staff to keep them clean. streetlights in many areas of town have been turned off to save $$.
It is truly a sarah palin type city where folks care only about themselves and not parting with their $$ to help their fellow man..and like sarah run around bragging what good christians they are.

DeleteI hear you, and sympathize. Maybe we could start a support club? : )
8:22 --- Come on over to Denver more often. Yesterday for example--I'm doing an illustration degree at the gorgeous botanic gardens, only one of many new programs planned through the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. Of course, passing that initiative meant voting to raise taxes on ourselves. Just like the public school tax that we passed in the last election.
DeleteYou must know about the push by some northern Coloradans to form a 51st state because they hate everything on the state level being so controlled by Denver/Boulder?
MAKE THEM secede, I say. And good riddance. --- Julie
You should be jealous of us more often, Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteIt was nearly 70 degree today, bright blue skies, gentle breeze, and a little dusting of snow on the mountains. Another beautiful day in the fittest state in the country.
Did the breezes fan up the out-of-control wildfires that are the result of 20 years of drought?
DeleteIt's not wildfire season and we are still saturated from the 100-year flood we just experienced, but thanks for asking. Where do you live?
DeleteThis is off-topic but Jon Stewart has just nailed McCain for "opening Pandora's box" and unleashing the crazy in the form of Sarah Palin, then complaining about the wacko-birds in his party!
ReplyDeleteCO is a real neat place..Rocky Mts., moose, elk, deer, antelope, buffalo, Big Horn Sheep, Doll Sheep, wolves, fox, coyotes, fly fishing, boating (without oil spills), gold mining, wheat, corn, real dairies, rockets to the planets, excellent schools and higher education, top hospitals, 4 professional sports teams, healthiest people in the world, world's greatest powder skiing, sky scrapers, neat people (no Palins), top photographers, artists, symphony orchestra, marijuana, oil, gas, Air Force Academy, NORAD so we can keep an eye on Putin rearing his ugly head, numerous military bases, IMAX, theater arts, Museum of Natural History with all those Dinosaurs...millions of years old!, fast-track electrical rail system, top International Airport, AmTract railroad, top earthquake center in the world, NOAH, wind and solar manufacturing, CO Sch of Mines...top geological engineering school in the country (grandson just graduated with EE and ME degrees full scholarship!) :-) We have everything but Polar Bears and Sockeye Salmon! Focus on the Family headquarters...you'd love them wacko's!
ReplyDeleteColorado also has the most whackadoodle, vicious Teatardistani people I've ever met. They've cut funding for education and their schools rank 49th in the USA.
DeleteAre you talking about a specific area in Colorado, because I've never seen any indicator that says Colorado's schools are ranked 49th?
DeleteAre you kidding? The rightwing nutjobs wanted Colorado to secede from the USA, there are several fundie whackjob organizations like the Heritage Foundation (founded by the Coors) set up there along with the Dominionist powerhouses.
DeleteTHAT'S how it's done! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gryphen for sharing this and for all you do.
Tonights Daily Show was just great.
ReplyDeleteJon took down GOPs and the Tea Party that they created. He blames Rove and Mccain- for picking the quitter. LOL
Jon Stewart mocked Rove and also McCain’s attempts to rebuke his Tea Party colleagues as hypocritical, dismissing McCain as the “single least self-examining Republican crazy enabler,” considering McCain picked another Tea Partier, Sarah Palin, as his running mate for his failed 2008 presidential campaign.

They should start listing the statistics for males from 18 to 30 who are involved in and injured from the risky behavior they engage in. I am a mother with a 23 year old who is still doing dumb things that send him to the hospital and it gets expensive. The picture says it all.......good move CO
ReplyDeleteMy husband is 45 and still doing risky things like paddling, snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking, etc.
