Senator Chuck Schumer to Hillary Clinton, “If you run, you’ll win and we’ll all win.”

Courtesy of Politico:

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer on Saturday urged Hillary Clinton to run for president, calling 2016 “Hillary’s time.”

“Run Hillary run,” the Democrat was expected to say at an Iowa dinner, according to prepared remarks. “If you run, you’ll win and we’ll all win.”

Schumer’s comments about his former Senate colleague and the former secretary of State were slated for delivery at the closely watched Jefferson Jackson dinner, a high-profile gathering of Democratic Iowa activists.

Clinton, a top 2016 possibility and current Democratic frontrunner, has made a slew of public appearances recently. She’s hit the campaign trail for Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Terry McAuliffe, and given a series of speeches at universities and other events held by organizations including the Center for American Progress.

Schumer went on to paint Clinton as the party’s best hope for combating the tea party — a movement he slammed repeatedly in the remarks.

“With a strong platform and with Hillary leading the charge, we will vanquish the Ted Cruz, tea party Republicans in 2016,” he said. “And create a generation of Democrats who will make sure the middle class gets what it needs, our country advances and the torch held by that beautiful lady in New York’s harbor burns more brightly than ever.”

I kind of have to agree with Schumer here.

If Hillary runs, she WILL win.

And once she wins, we ALL win.

I have a feeling she will run but it's going to put President Obama in an unenviable situation. Joe Biden may want to run, and as President, he'd have to side with his vice president. But I honestly think it's time for a female president, and Hillary would be the perfect choice because of her resume' and experience.

She announced at the women's council in Philly, that she'ssttarting a "no ceilings, full participation" project and that she's going to do what it takes to restore the floor under our feet as well. (I took that to mean restoring the safety net) on a global scale. Despite all our efforts, today's women, worldwide, are living shorter lives than their mothers.

That sounds like a perfect slogan for her "No Ceilings, full Participation"

    1. Joe Biden is the consummate Democrat. If Hillary decides to run he will not stand in her way.

Agreed. And he's older than she is...he may be ready to take on another role..I think he'd be a great DNC chair. Or a Cabinet post for her.
And doesn't she look great? Cute haircut, relaxed, she's lost some weight. She looks rested and ready to take on the world again.

Can hardly wait for her to announce, but not yet, Hillary. Let the Republicans stew in their own horrible juices! You have lots of time to declare and take on the crap they'll put out there in front of you!

The majority of women throughout the nation will be behind you along w/the Dems in Congress.

  4. I think you're absolutely right about Joe Biden. He will not run if she chooses to, and he will have some great spot in her cabinet. Sounds like a win/win situation to me.

Whatever! I can't get with this Hillary for President BS when it's only 10 months into President Obama's second term. It's insulting to his presidency and all he has accomplished.

We need to work on getting the crazy baggers out of Congress in 2014 so President can finish the work he promised.

Give it a damn rest. She hasn't announced her candidacy yet. Sorry to say, I don't trust her. She's not as progressive as most of you think.

I'll be voting for a fresh face. Frankly, I'm tired of the Clintons.

thank you 8:10.... the hillary lovers can be, at times, as blind and one track minded as the sarah lovers... they just dont realise it.

the comment above at 5:11 - 'I honestly think it's time for a female president'.... what the hell does that mean.... we should elect a female president because you think it is time???? those are the qualifiers??? there never has been a good or bad 'time' to elect a female or male president... hopefully we as a country elect the best non gender specific, or even party specific candidate, always.

and as you said... tired of the clintons... a lot of the country feels that way. hillary lovers (like sarah lovers) just dont see it. hillary, for all her goods and bads, will not be the next president.
