Your Happy Thanksgiving wish from the White House.

I have to say, all partisanship aside, that I really like this family.

They just seem far more genuine than most of the political families that have occupied that  house.

But maybe that's just me.

The thing I love about them is that they are ALWAYS touching each other.

Barack and Michelle are in physical contact with each other, and their girls, in such a tender and loving way. ALWAYS. It's the most genuine expression of love and intimacy that I've ever seen from a First Family. And it's been that way for years, long before they arrived in the White House.

They are simply a deeply intimate family who isn't afraid to express their love. Which makes ME love them all the more. The way that they represent this country makes me feel like bursting, with utter pride.

You can always tell when people are physically affectionate just for show (think Romney and McCain). You often catch the Obama family touching each other unconsciously, which means they do it often and with genuine love.

Their facial expressions when they look at each other also show that they are a close and loving family, and we are very lucky to have them in the White House!

Do you think we're too stupid to tell the difference between real and fake when we have such great examples of "staged" with the Palins?

Compare this picture with the one for SPA that was taken on the grass in front of the dead lake (so apropos). All the Palins were carefully spaced away from each other so no one had to touch the others. Track looked totally sullen.

I so love President Obama's family....wish we had many more families out there like them! Easily demonstrative, kind and loving of/to one another! Wouldn't that make a much more beautiful America?

How about the one taken for SPA in front of the dead lake. So apropo! All of them spaced apart so no one accidentally touches someone else. Very telling! Whereas the Obamas are always touching, smiling, and being affectionate to each other.

    4. Sally in MI3:43 PM

You know the one I recall? The Palins were all standing in front of a lake, not touching, and lined up like bowling pins or soemthing. No one was smiling. Brisrol was holding Tripp and I forget who had Trigg, but it was like a bunch of mannequins. Then there was the creepy extended family one last holiday season with no holiday decorations and no one touching. (OK, get ready, in a few days we'll get a FB photo of all the Palin women hugging each other in front of a tree...gotcha again Sarah.)

Too bad all the strong gay rumors exist out of Chicago involving he and Rahm. Too bad lawsuits were DROPPED by judges against people alleging these rumors.

Not that it matters. Families are families. All are beautiful

Looks like the troll has arrived right on time to spew conspiracy theories that are all the 'thang' with the right wing. It's so apparent the jealousy that rages from the right wing at how loving and committed Barack is to Michelle and both of them to their children. So OF COURSE they have to drum up some ridiculous story about gayness and subterfuge, they just can't stand that we have such a classy BLACK family in the WHITE House. Thing is, their desperation, like G says, is so blatantly clear that it becomes laughable and pathetic all at the same time. Poor little troll.

Sadly, we can expect a Palin copycat photo any minute, and a rundown of an all-American Palin Thanksgiving, unlike the undoubtedly Muslim, Kenyan feast enjoyed at the White House.

I don't see how you cold say that, especially about people you don't personally know. I've known Jeb's family and by extension, GWs, for years. (I knew Jebs son). They're lovely.

Whats the point in comparing people?

It's amazing to see how much the girls have grown and matured since their father's been in the White House. Shasha has gone from adorable, round-faced little girl to a lovely young lady and Malia is becoming a beautiful, elegant young woman.

Kudos to the President and First Lady for doing such a wonderful job with their daughters AND for keeping them out of the spotlight and working so hard to give them as normal a life as possible in the White House.

I had the discussion not long ago that except for a few obligatory pictures, you don't see the Obama girls. They are not whining and crying on reality shows, they're not getting drunk and trashing people's houses, they're not flitting around the country screaming "LOOK AT MEEEEE!" The Clintons raised Chelsea the same way as the Obamas

      Delete
    3. Anonymous10:34 AM

I think the Clinton did a good job w/Chelsea as well. She moved into adulthood with an outstanding education, job and marriage. I fully expect she'll have a political career too at some point.

  18. Such a lovely picture of the Obamas. Too bad the troll is littering the joint with nasty little bits of filth.

For some reason this lovely family seems to be bringing out a particularly bitter, jealous, viciousness in the troll. So Palin-like. It's not the Obama family's fault that the dreadful Palin clan will never have any of their class, brilliance, accomplishments and beauty.

  19. Malia gets more gorgeous with every passing year. Sasha will never be as beautiful as her older sister, but she sure is a cutie.

Malia is very tall for a young girl but has always carried herself with a grace rarely seen in such a young girl. It is difficult getting your height early for a girl, but she seems to be carrying it off beautifully.

And, am I bad - as a life-long Democrat - in admitting that I kind of like Laura Bush? (And no, she didn't "kill" her boyfriend on purpose; it was an unfortunate car accident) She reminds me of myself if I was married to a complete fuck-up!

But, back to those girls. Pure adorability.

I liked Laura Bush too until I realized she is a doormat, staying married to George for the prestige.
Michelle would never suffer for power. She wields her own intelligence, thank you very much, and she and Barack are obviously very much in love. I don't get that from George and Laura. They seem lie a settled couple content to use each other, while the Obamas are a power couple in love (I am also feeling more of that with the Clintons these days.)ut yeah, we are one lucky country to have the Obamas are their lovely, intelligent, and gracious girls in our White House.

I've never been more impressed with a First Family as I have with this one. They've brought dignity and respect back to the White House. Sousa, the official White House Photographer has an excellent eye and has done a superb job at chronicling both terms of office.
