For those who have wondered how such a well respected news program as 60 Minutes could have fallen for the Benghazi conspiracy theories, I think we may now have an answer.

Courtesy of Brad Blog:

The President of CBS News is David Rhodes. He was hired in February 2011. He was formerly the Vice President of News at Fox "News".

Again, the current President of CBS News was formerly the VP of News at Fox "News".

According to his bio posted at CBS: "Rhodes began his career as a Production Assistant at the newly-launched Fox News Channel in 1996, where he later became Vice President of News. At the network he managed coverage of three presidential elections, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, hurricanes including Katrina, and was the channel's Assignment Manager on the news desk the morning of September 11, 2001."

That means, as The Nation's Greg Mitchell pointed out at the height of the recent CBS News/60 Minutes Benghazi report controversy (before CBS was finally forced to retract the entire fake story), that Rhodes "was the guy who worked hand-in-glove on the biased, often propagandistic, Fox 'coverage' of the run-up to the Iraq war, the 2000/2004/2008 elections, the Plame affair, the worst years in Iraq, and all other things Bush and Cheney, and so on."

Again, the guy who cut his teeth in the news business, beginning as a Production Assistant and working his way up to become VP at Fox "News", is now the President of CBS News.

Well now, I guess that puts everything into perspective now doesn't it?

Not only did 60 Minutes drink the Kool-aid on the Benghazi story, they have continued to carry the Right Wing water in more thinly veiled attacks against President Obama, including a clearly biased and fact free report on the President's policies on clean energy that aired Sunday night.

You know, and this may be somewhat off topic (But then again not so much), but part of the Seven Mountains Dominionist mandate (The same group behind Sarah Palin's rise to power.) is to infiltrate the secular media and start to change the focus from within to start reflecting Biblical points of view and more Christian friendly political opinions.

I'm not saying definitively that this is a product of that program, but it would not be too far off base to imagine that the Right Wing may have adopted that model as their blueprint for inserting their own sleeper cells into once trustworthy bastions of journalism.

We quit watching 60 Minutes several months ago. The reporting seemed off to the side. Now, I see why.

That is *exactly* what I've been complaining about! I started watching 60 Minutes in the 1980s, as a class assignment, and watched it pretty much up to a few months ago, when the stories suddenly seemed childish and biased. Now I know why!

Likewise me, 11:43 AM, in high school early 70s. I quit before the new fall season started last year. Journalistic integrity is no longer top priority

Before Ann Coulter appeared on Fox & Friends this morning, the show teased her appearance with an unfortunately hilarious Chyron graphic on screen. As Coulter strode down the hallways of Fox News to the set, the words “GATES OF HELL” appeared below her.

Thank you. That really explains a lot. After their last piece of crap reporting on environmentally friendly energy I decided to stop watching CBS news completely. That leaves me with only PBS News hour and ABC Sunday morning for my source of national news since I can't get cable out here in the real Alaska.

Fox News Has Totally Ignored The Christie-Bridge Revelations

The revelation that one of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's top advisors was directly involved with discussions to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge in September has been the top news story for almost every major news outlet Wednesday. Except for one: The Fox News Channel.

No, over at Roger Ailes's conservative media monolith, the issue hasn't warranted a single mention on the air.

Leslie Stahl should be ashamed of herself with that "CleanTech" attack. While she hammered at the billions the government has invested in clean energy, she never mentioned the billions and billions the government has given over many decades, and continues to give every year, to subsidize the richest oil, gas & coal companies. Also, there is no level playing field: if oil & coal had to pay for the waste products that are destroying our environment (carbon is #1), clean energy would be viable.

An objective and trustworthy media is crucial for sustaining democracy. Looks like we're headed for deep shit as profitable propaganda appears to be taking over.

Hope you keep shining a light on the Seven Mountains model of infiltration.

"Sarah Palin To Host Hollywood Press To Discuss Her Sportsman Channel Series Amazing America with Sarah Palin
Published on Wednesday, January 08, 2014

New Berlin, WI – Sportsman Channel and its newest host, Sarah Palin, will be in Pasadena, California, on January 10 to host a Sportsman Channel-sponsored power breakfast at the 2014 Television Critics Association Winter Tour.

The former U.S. vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor is the new host of “Amazing America with Sarah Palin,” an original TV series that will premiere in April 2014 on Sportsman Channel.
Amazing America with Sarah Palin is an anthology of stories that explore some of the most original, interesting – and sometimes inspiring - people, places and pastimes connected to America’s outdoor lifestyle. Governor Palin takes viewers coast-to-coast into what Sportsman Channel calls “Red, Wild and Blue America” – where the American Spirit and the Great Outdoors are celebrated in equal measure.

Isn't it a bit ironic that with the rise of spurious broadcast/cable journalism the internet has a become more and more powerful source of information? Throughout the world!! It seems like a karmic event that just as we have more access to information on the internet the traditional news outlets have become less reliable.

    What's a CBS?

  12. "60 Minutes" used to be one of the "crown jewels" of the CBS line up and the standard to which other news stories aspired and were held to. Not any more...this show has disintegrated to the level of a typical Fox broadcast which equates for the "smart elite" people: not worth wasting your time watching. Edward R Murrow must be rolling in his grave...what a slap in the face to the distinguished journalists who have graced "60 Minutes" in the programmes illustrious past...
