I have to take a moment after watching that to dry my eyes.
My daughter burst into my room last night to tell me I needed to see this, and then we watched together while her face broke into the biggest smile I have seen in months.
"This is big Dad. Having this happen at the Grammy's is going to help change people's minds."
I love my little girl, and I so want her to be right, but alas some minds are beyond the reach of love and progress.
This is what Sarah Palin's favorite Fox News contributor tweeted last night after this amazing event.
Just about says it all, don't you think?
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

How can he not realize the hypocrisy of that tweet?
ReplyDeletethey're all ignorant and narrow minded. the country and eventually the world will leave them behind.
DeleteO/T did you see that this blog got mentioned derisively in the most recent palin4prez site? it's about Trig Truthers who have become Wendy Davis "wheelchair truthers" and it specifically names Immoral Minority!
ReplyDeletecheck it out
http://palin4president2016.blogspot.com/2014/01/from-mad-leftists-that-became-trig.html
Palin for President 2016? Gawd, how dim ARE these people?
DeleteThat website is run by a person in New Zealand that haunts all Palin forums and his actual website has never been recognized by his "queen bee". Sad little collection of writings from a sad little man in country far, far away from Mrs. Palin's.
Deleteis he the guy who comments all over the internets defending skankzilla under the name exodus too?
Deleteahh the famous bullshit of M. Joseph Sheppard.. Keeper of the Palin pornography!
DeleteSee? Gryph got an Emmy, too. He's just humble like that, doesn't go tootin his own horn.
DeleteRush is all butthurt, which says to me that everything about this action was correct, proper and inline with what the majority of the country is supporting.
ReplyDeletePeople like Todd Starnes make Atheists become intolerant of christians. If that's what he's gunning for them by all means, proceed christian intolerant bastard, you are hurting ALL christians by your ugly behavior. Aren't there any good christians willing to stand up to the dark side of their religion?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I saw a whole lotta hate in that room.
ReplyDeleteWell, there must have been some somewhere.
Maybe it was just hidden behind all the people with the big smiles and tears of joy.
Protecting our god-given freedom to limit the freedom of others is so important to making this country what it used be before what it can be in the future of tomorrow again (???) that I believe without any doubt, the Republicans are going to make passing The Right To Hate constitutional amendment the primary focus of electoral politics throughout the remainder of the 1800s!!
ReplyDeletePrick Pence is working on it in Indiana. Along with Butthole Bosma.
DeleteShe thinks more grifting is a campaign? hahahahahhaha
DeleteThat was positively palinesque, Beldar!
DeleteOT for this post but many might find this interesting. A loyal C4P reader has let us know that the following is happening and the grift is still on:
ReplyDeleteFrom a poster on C4P:
There is a new SarahPAC letter out
part of it that was interesting is that they are in the process of printing 2014 SarahPAC membership cards...
they are also asking for donation for their 2014 campaign kickoff!
Don't provide money to her guys - she's using you as she always has!
DeleteHilarious! Now they can all be card-carrying, panty-sniffing sheeple!
DeleteI noticed that amusing post also. It is amazing how anyone looking in from the outside, can so easily see the Sarah scam for $$. I wonder if the C4P nimrods will also get a secret decoder ring with their SarahPac membership cards. (Probably will be reserved for silver or gold lifetime members). Terminally unemployed Strange Pete won't be able to get a decoder ring.
DeleteHey whatever happened to that dumb as hell page set up for the morons at large holding up big gulp cups to show their patriotism?
They should wear arm bands so we can identify them as the morons they are.
Delete3:26
DeleteThey already do! They got their "I've fallen and I can't get up" necklaces, hoveround heavy duty scooters decorated with made in China American Flags and their free Obama Phones.
The video was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTodd not so much.
Todd Starnes is a schmuck.
DeleteWhat a disgrace
ReplyDeleteStop gay marriage
Boycott the Grammy awards
What a disgrace
DeleteWhat happened to the days when bigoted hate mongers were not welcome as newscasters
Boycott Faux news
you're such a hater barstool.
DeleteDon't worry Bristol, some day your Mom will find someone dumb enough to marry you.
DeleteHang in there, Bristol! I'm sure there's a guy or gal out there who'd love to curl your toes and park their toothbrush next to yours for life. It worked well for Anna Nichole Smith. Visited any retirement homes lately?
DeleteEveryone in the world doesn't dance to his drummer, so anyone who doesn't is intolerant of him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a maroon!
"maroon'' is the name of a color.
DeleteYou meant to say: "moron". ;-)
jeez...lotta maroons here today...
DeleteThose darned people! Exercising their rights and causing Mr Todd the bigot to get the vapors.
ReplyDeleteMonogamy isn't for everyone and 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce but kudos for those that at least try it. At least these folks that did it at the Grammys didn't spend the $20,000 that my parents did on both of my failed marriages (they were great parties, even though the unions didn't last that long :-)
ReplyDeleteLike a friend of mine says" My first wife threw the best wedding receptions and I know because I attended both"
Delete"When I was at church they taught me something else
ReplyDeleteIf you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it"
Even the written words give me goosebumps.
DeleteAnother Todd Starnes: "If there's one thing I can't stand, it's intolerance!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking moron.
I'm basing this on intolerance, bigotry and hatred, but this guy looks like a skeevy pedophile perv whom none of us would want to be trapped in an elevator with.
ReplyDelete"some minds are beyond the reach of love and progress."
ReplyDeleteYes...But...even some of the coldest hearts and most closed minds will change as courageous and heroic songs like 'Same Love' make it easier for gays to come out of the closet and harder for those who know, respect, and love them to cling to fearful beliefs.
I got all warm and fuzzy wrapped in a blanket of love watching that. And this old pessimist (that would be me) has reason to hope today.
ReplyDeleteWow.
I couldn't care less about what folks do, regarding their personal life. I do fear that the government will scream discrimination, and force churches that disagree to still perform same sex ceremonies. why a couple would want to have the service performed by someone dead set against it is beyond me, but then, I also wouldn't want them making my cake or taking my pictures...(might spoil the energy) but there are lawsuits going on to prove me
ReplyDeletedifferent, I guess.
this little sniveling doughboy needs to quit lashing out at others because he harbors unpure thoughts about other men.
ReplyDeleteI did not see a lot of "intolerance, bigotry and hatred" in that clip. Maybe this Starnes guy is upset because the performance and the audience were not full of his kind of "intolerance, bigotry and hatred."
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
I just can't imagine living life like Todd Starnes, consumed by hatred and fear every single day. That's not living...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the 33 newlywed couples, may they always know happiness and love!
First of all, I wasn't expecting that, and it blew me away watching it on Television. Second, Did anyone catch Madonna and David, her son? They wore matching black tuxedos and he's grown to quite a handsome, well behaved and smart young man. Third, I refuse to let one word from Todd Starne's troubled mind to sully the beauty I saw in the eyes of the newlywed spouses. Let's just hope Karma is as kind to Todd as it was to Andrew Breitbart, if not kinder. (Yes, I know Karma doesn't work like that, but I can dream)
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Grammy show, and I didn't watch the clip...but I think that Macklemore guy is really good looking!
ReplyDeleteGryphen, you can tell your daughter that I think having people like her around is what is helping to change people's minds. The respect and tolerance shown to others by her generation is incredibly inspiring to their parents and grandparents. These young people believe that they really CAN change the world, and make it a better place for all of us. I am so very proud of them.
Queen Latifah stood up there and celebrated the freedom to love/marry who you want, but has not found the courage to be honest about her own sexual orientation and come out.
ReplyDeleteAnd who cares? It's personal and no one's business but hers. NO ONE should be required (least of all by you) to publicly discuss matters that are personal, just to satisfy your prurient interest.
DeleteWell, I disapproved because I simply think marriage should be more than a publicity stunt. I can't stand celebrities patting themselves on the back, and that's what that felt like. I would have felt the same way had it been straight couples getting married.
ReplyDeleteBut, I'm very cynical when it comes to celebrity. I hope those couples go off and live very happy lives and never realize the people who performed at their wedding didn't know their names.
