Rachel Maddow Show tops ratings among key demographic last week. The reason? Bridge-ghazi, bridge-ghazi, bridge-ghazi!

Courtesy of Newser:

MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” has delivered a rare victory over Fox News in the ratings: Maddow’s program won its timeslot in the key A25-54 demographic for the week of January 6.

“The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 325,000 A25-54 viewers for the week, topping Fox News’ “The Kelly File,” which drew 305,000, and “Piers Morgan Tonight,” which had 159,000. It was MSNBC’s best 9pmET performance since the week of the Boston Marathon bombing (4/15/13).

MSNBC’s coverage of the Chris Christie bridge scandal propelled MSNBC to#1 in the primetime demo on both Thursday and Friday of last week. Maddow won the 9pmET timeslot among younger viewers both nights.

I think Maddow did incredibly important work on this scandal last week, as did many of her fellow MSNBC hosts (Chris Hayes especially.) and she clearly deserved to come out on top in the ratings.

Especially since the usual  ratings heavyweight, Fox News, either acted as if there were no scandal, or disingenuously tried to obfuscate by bringing up fake Obama "scandals."

Rachel is, as you all know, my go to news source when I am trying to make sense out of breaking stories, and I ma rarely disappointed by her incredibly well researched reporting.

My hope is that this trend continues and that in the months to come we will find Fox struggling to retake this time slot while also losing ground in many others.

*Ailes thought Sarah Palin was “an idiot,” but paid her a million dollars a year and built a home studio for her in Wasilla, Alaska. Before her appearances, she regularly carped at husband Todd, who handled the camera. Fox News producers nicknamed the Palins “The Bitch” and “The Eskimo.”

So 'sweet' little Sarah complains about her husband to others, huh? I'll bet Todd wants to ring her neck half the time. It's no wonder he has screwed around on her!

It's easy to see why when you've got this kind of crap coming out of their blond bimbos:

Megyn Kelly advises McConnell: Stop fighting Obama in court and ‘try to impeach him!’

Kelly pointed to a recent Supreme Court case and told McConnell that the president’s use of recess appointments was just “one example of many” of “presidential overreach.”

“And the question is whether beyond this case, what is perceived by some as presidential overreach, really can be resolved, in your view, by the courts,” she said.

When McConnell didn’t bring up the issue of impeachment himself, Kelly rephrased her question.

“We’ve had lawyers, constitutional lawyers come on this show and say, OK, so when that happens, when you have a president who, in your view or the view of some, is out of control in terms of overreach, you as the lawmaker really have two meaningful options,” she said. “And the main one that has been used historically is, try to impeach him!”

“I mean, is that ever considered?” Kelly asked. “As opposed to running into the courts and trying to get them to do it?”

Yeah, don't follow the law, just bully your way forward and get rick of the black president, already. None of this legal mumbo jumbo! "Running to the courts'? Like that isn't their job, you stupid idiot, Meg! No, let's just strongarm the president that was democratically voted in by the majority of voters in this country...by a HUGE margin!

And by the way you ignorant twat, check your history before you go after the black guy:

Total Recess Appointments, by President, 1933‐2010

For a woman with black roots, Megyn sure bears a lot of hate and animosity toward our first Black President.

Rachel is great! She not only thoroughly researches her stories but tells it in a very concise way and when the need calls for it can be humorous as well.

  7. Maddow is the spiritual daughter of Linda Ellerbee, and no female news anchor has been as entertaining since Ellerbee's own glory days on NBC News Overnight.

Maddow had Pat Buchanan next to her in November '08 on Obama's first win, and despite as wide a gulf of political viewpoints the two hold, Maddow managed to even humanize Buchanan, which is something approaching miraculous.

I'm delighted she's gay like me, but she's so superb a journalist, she makes that point entirely superfluous.

Maddow also is highly educated - she should be referred to as Dr. Maddow, but doesn't even use it herself. She has her doctorate!

I love the fact she makes booze drinks off and on on her show and shows us all how to make them. Love her sense of humor too.

No one in journalism today can hold a candle to Rachel's work ethic, her research and communication skills are superb, and the best quality she has is that she makes it look so easy. MSNBC earns their ratings based on the hard work of their employees and the quality of their work. Fox News gets their ratings based on their usual group of viewers AND everyone else looking to see teh crazy in action. Kind of like rubbernecking a bad car accident.
Rachel, Larry O Donnel and Melissa Harris Perry and Chris Hayes, IMO, are really pulling their weight on the network. Keith Olberman and Martin Bashir's shows were in the same league, but Rachel is the best of the pack.

All the shows on MSNBC are doing a hell of a job of providing 'real' news coverage...especially like Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Rev Al, Chris Hayes and Ed. They are knowledgeable, well researched and provide FACTS! MSNBC also has great shows on the weekend....love the knowledge they provide Americans.

Did you know that Keith Olberman was the one that introduced Rachel to MSNBC...he use to have her on his show all the time and then she obtained her own. I miss Olberman!

MSNBC is the place for factual news! Steve Kornacki needs to get some accolades for his incredible insight into NJ politics and for bringing the billion dollar development by the GW bridge into focus as the likely cause of the bridge closures. It is Sokolich's project and Christie obviously needed to punish Sokolich for his lack of endorsement. Great job, Steve!

I switched over to FOX last night to see what they were covering. I couldn't believe it. They were actually going over Benghazi like it happened yesterday. So, it's no wonder that MSNBC won the week. Not even FOX viewers want to read yesterday's newspaper, if you will. The Christie story has legs and it isn't going anywhere for awhile.

  14. Benghazi was sad event that the GOP tried to turn into a scandal of epic proportions.
The GWB lane closing IS a scandal of epic proportions. It should NOT be called Bridge-ghazi - just call it bridgegate - or "A bridge too far" or "The Bridge of Fort Lee County".

The GOP are equating it to Benghazi - no comparison whatsoever - don't help them
