As the same-sex marriage debate rages, one person says he won’t be weighing in on the subject anymore: Dan Cathy, CEO and president of Chick-fil-A.
Almost two years after he made headlines by throwing his support behind traditional marriage and later decried a pair of Supreme Court decisions that favored same-sex unions, Cathy hasn’t changed his mind. But he said Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has no place in the culture wars and regrets making the company a symbol in the marriage debate.
“Every leader goes through different phases of maturity, growth and development and it helps by (recognizing) the mistakes that you make,” Cathy said. “And you learn from those mistakes. If not, you’re just a fool. I’m thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it."
Yeah okay.
He may have decided to keep his homophobia on the down low, but it will be a long time before he can live down things like this.
I don't care how good your chicken is, this kind of stomach churning stench can last for decades.
Business is down, eh Dan?
ReplyDeleteAlso too, people are not going to support something "Know nothing Palin" supports! She is the Ki$$ of death for anything. The Palin curse!
DeleteAww look how sincere he is, doing that tongue thing Sarah does with straws.
DeleteI do believe that people can have sincere religious objections to same-sex marriage without being a "homophobe", but I don't think those religious beliefs have the right to dictate civil law.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't believe in gay marriage, don't have one. There ends your control over the issue.
Same wiyh abortion and contraception.
DeleteSarah just inserted herself into the controversy for publicity and donations. All Sarah all the time, and I doubt she cares about that issue one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteGee, could it be that sales have taken a hit?
ReplyDeleteI hope so but possibly he just learned that a close family member is gay. It's funny how fast certain convictions can evolve when a person finds out that someone he respects and loves is gay. Most people think that they don't know anyone who is gay when the reality is just the opposite.
DeleteI doubt it, Olivia. This is about money, not about any great awakening.
Delete"...you learn from those mistakes. If not, you’re just a fool."
ReplyDeleteSo his company lost money because he ran his fool mouth, is what he's trying to say.
Also notice that he hasn't said anything nice about Sarah Palin. That Sarah Palin Curse is a bitch.
ReplyDeleteSarah looks flat in that picture and I see two bags of chicken. I wonder, are those bags filled with breasts?
ReplyDeleteBesides being flat, Sarah Palin is short too.
Delete"I don't care how good your chicken is, this kind of stomach churning stench can last for decades."
ReplyDeleteSmells like the Sarah Palin Curse
Just ask John McCain
One more reason why personal opinions dont belong in business. Business is money. Beliefs are mental.
ReplyDeleteA waiter shouldn't espouse upon their beliefs to patrons. Same goes for the owner.
And what's funny is, Sarah et al aren't homophobes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they just call everyone faggots foe the hell of it.
DeleteProve it.
DeleteSarah may not be a screeching homophobe but she is an attention whore who won't let any conservative crap drive by without her thumb out. She is actually worse than a screeching homophobe. She probably knows and loves a few gay people only she won't just come out and say she is against the loathsome conservative homophobia---because, you know--the grifter money possibilities.
DeleteThe woman actually has a big gay fanboy following (and what the fuck that is about I have no idea). This country can be stupid as hell.
What would you call it, then?
DeleteChick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy says he regrets getting involved in the same sex marriage debate.
ReplyDeleteProbably regrets Sarah and the day Sarah and Todd walked into his restaurant
Probably regrets the rose colored t-shirt pic, too. Ain't she a fine mascot?
DeleteDick-fil-A hole
ReplyDeleteIt must have affected sales.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
How much would a sex tape of Todd with another man be worth?
ReplyDeleteTell me if you have one and I'll see how much I can raise.
DeleteThought the rumor was that he and Sarah don't have sex anymore.
DeleteYeah, the reason someone like THAT makes a decision like THAT is because he loves money more than he hates the gay and this has cost him and his company money. Dick. A-hole.
ReplyDeleteBqhatevwr (worthy of a scott brown butt tweet). Palin curse!
That photo is just more proof that Sarah and Todd are assholes. It takes a real asshole to go out of his/her way to make a statement against equal rights. If this was the 1960s, Sarah and Todd would have been posing, thumbs up, next to a "Whites Only" drinking fountain.
ReplyDeleteI will never set foot in Chic- fil-A or Holly Lobby . I try to boycott the Koch Bro brands as much as possible. Now here are certain states, I will not visit or spend my money in.. The only way we can show our distaste for these bigots , unchristian Christians, evil people is with our dollars and business.
ReplyDeleteTheir chicken is still anonymous meatstream garbage.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering about Hobby Lobby. I live in liberal Austin so I can't imagine they are doing well here.
ReplyDeleteTexasMel
I haven't been there since he started it & I never will go back! Same with Papa Johns Pizza, Hobby Lobby and now Home Depot!!! My hard earned $$$$ can be spent in better places.
ReplyDeleteLikewise for me. Even though Chik-Fil-A is a mere three blocks from my house, I refuse to shop there. Same for the rest of your list.
Delete9:38am
DeleteGood for you. The numbers for Chick-Fil-A regarding fat/calories/nutrition are not very favorable. A person with reasonable cooking skills can make something just as tasty with way less fat, at home, in her own kitchen.
Add Domino's pizza and we're on the same wavelength. It may be a drop in the bucket, but it feels damn good voting with my dollars.
DeleteSo Dano burned his own ass. Good. You know Dano, when you stand with the simple-minded murican pricks, you get treated like a simple-minded murican prick. Go ahead, keep right on free speeching. Too little, too late.
ReplyDeleteI have not been able to unearth any figures to show profits being down for Chick-Fil-A. I think Dan Cathy is concerned of the brand image of Chick- Fil- A which according to this survey suffered quite a drop.
ReplyDeletehttp://marketingland.com/chick-fil-a-brand-suffers-family-definition-controversy-17707
If the surge of business after his initial anti-Gay remarks from the Palin/Jesus crowd were so great he would be falling over himself repeating his anti-gay-marriage tirade to resume the stampede.
I honestly think he realizes he is on the wrong side of history and the chain will not be able to rise above the flack. Once you lose your reputation it is nearly impossible to get it back.
Dan, or Cathy, whoever you are today, you're going about this the wrong way. Advertising that your business model and profits are tanking is just a signal to those good christian folks like Sarah and Todd that pitifully says "Help! Spend money here, I'm losing it quicker than Sarah's bra is losing air from a cactus prick".
ReplyDeleteHow about a hefty donation to PFLAG?
Come on Sarah, chime in. Cathy could learn a lesson or two from Bankruptcy!
“Every leader goes through different phases of maturity, growth and development and it helps by (recognizing) the mistakes that you make,” Cathy said. “And you learn from those mistakes. If not, you’re just a fool. I’m thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it."
ReplyDelete"I grew tremendously in my early months as mayor." - Sarah Palin

Translation: "Oh for the good old days when you could trumpet your bigotry and not have it impact the bottom line. Where, oh where, did they go...?"
ReplyDeleteBelt it, Connie:
You had your way
Now you must pay,
I'm glad that you're sorry now!
He calls himself a leader, which naturally suggests others are followers. That by itself says a lot.
