Textbook for private school in Texas. This is what is taught when children are taught outside of the public school system.

Source
To these people public education is a government sponsored attack on their religion.

In their world of black and white, right and wrong, good and evil, they are the persecuted and any who do not share their faith are those who oppress them.

"Even in the United States, which was founded on biblical principles" Um, no, it was not. Somehow, these people have been brainwashed into believing that their Bible, their church, their pastors, are the only game in town. They have been fed these lies for so long, they have no clue as to what is fact and what is fiction. I feel bad for their children. I have inlays who ket their kids in private schools all the way through college. Not one of the four boys has married, and the youngest is now 26. In the other family, there is a divorce, all the kids slept around except the daughter, who dropped out of college to get married and now has two small kids being raised by HER mother so she can get out of the house. Her brothers are married, and two are raising the wife's kids from a first marriage. Yeah, all Republican. All family values hate liberals never go to church but swear that the Bible is the WAY. And oh, yeah, they think the Bushes are heroes, too. This is what happens when you don't teach critical thinking.

Eh, I went to "private" (Catholic) high school, and we had religion class, but it was basic worksheets and watching Stigmata- nothing like I've seen here. Bascially a waste of time, throwaway class, taught by a football coach, thankfully- I couldn't have dealt with the crap I hear about lately.

  3. This is some desperate, afraid shit.

Just the sort of item that renews the respect I've got for my mother, who raised me to appreciate skepticism not only about religion but even dare to suppose Mom herself was wrong now and then. She did not make it a struggle for my two siblings or I to take possession of our own lives or damage our respective senses of autonomy.

The result is three kids who love her effortlessly, and just as important, love each other. In fact, my sister is visiting this weekend, insisted on making some fancy chicken dish tonight for my husband and I, and right now is in the den chatting up my husband while I'm doing this post.

These people have redefined 'atheistic' to mean any belief system that is not xtian. Kind of a narrow view of religion.
Narrow is being kind. Maybe myopic would be better, don't know.
I do know that hindu, and muslims are not atheistic.
Other religions too numerous to mention.
But, to these folks, if you are not xtian, you are atheist.
Not even narrow or myopic; blind, as those who will not see.

That's why, when I correct people who use the non term "Atheistic Religion", the answer is "But everyone's gotta believe in something, right?"

      WRONG

  5. This is why there aren't enough 'educated' people to fill the 'jobs of the future' here in the US, and especially in TX.

I'm not a betting woman, but I would venture to bet there's MORE real Christians in Cuba than in Texas, and it has nothing to do with "missionaries".
