Rev. Franklin Graham on Sunday said that he stood by earlier comments agreeing with so-called gay "propaganda" bans in Russia because President Vladimir Putin was doing "what's right" for the country. During a March interview with the Charlotte Observer, Graham had asserted that LGBT people were trying to "recruit" children by adopting them, and suggested that it was "exploitation."
He also said that he "agreed" with Putin because "protecting his nation's children was a pretty smart thing to do."
Speaking to ABC News on Sunday, Graham doubled down on his praise of the Russian president.
"Putin is going to do what's right for Russia, and not what's right for America, but for Russia," he opined. "We used to have a president in this country that did what's right for this country, but we don't seem to have that right now."
"Putin is going to make these decisions that he thinks is best for the Russian people, and he thinks that taking advantage of children — exploiting children — is wrong for any group so they passed a law," Graham added. "So, I do agree with him."
When asked about his father, Rev. Billy Graham, he again brought the discussion back around to the issue of same-sex parents.
"When we talk about families, when we talk about gay people, many people, maybe gays that are watching want to know, 'Can God forgive me or can I go to Heaven as a gay person?' Absolutely," he declared. "But the same for any of us, we have to repent of our sins and turn."
"A person cannot stay in adultery and be accepted by God," Graham continued. "You have to repent."
It is kind of hard to believe that anybody would suggest that what Putin is doing right now is "good for Russia" but I guess when you are a fellow homophobe you tend to give your fellow hate mongers the benefit of the doubt.
As for this idea that gay adoption is about recruiting children into homosexuality, that could not be farther from the truth.
I have known, and worked with, several gay adoptive parents and essentially I can think of only one family where a child they had adopted turned out to be gay.
The rest were quite heterosexual, though to be honest they seemed to lack the gene which inspired them to call every kid they did not like a "faggot." Unless of course that is NOT a heterosexual feature and instead a learned behavior.
Franklin Graham is a POS and really should serve as an embarrassment to Christians everywhere, as well as to Americans who find Vladimir Putin to be a chest thumping megalomaniacal bully.
Many people suspect Putin is a closet case himself. Most straight guys confident in their own sexuality, when seriously questioned, give some variant of "I don't get it, but whatever floats your boat."
ReplyDeleteYou need only consider the attitudes towards- and voting records against gays by people like Ted Haggard, Larry Craig and Mark Foley, before the mask was pulled off of them. It's exactly these types that live the straight lie, often all the way to the altar but with notable political muscle, who are gays worst enemy.
I'll bet Graham condones anything in god's name, including child molestation. Sorry, but I've no use for any mode of thought that would play upon the spiritual sympathies to achieve such malicious ends as that advocated by traitors and charlatans like Graham.
ReplyDeleteWell, my daughter came out as a lesbian in college. She had a lesbian partner who, through artificial insemination, had a little girl while they were together. My daughter adopted her. Later her biological mother married a man. My daughter became my son and ultimately married a woman who had previously identified as lesbian. My granddaughter has a boyfriend she's been with quite awhile. I guess they failed with that gay recruitment thing.

Wow, you are the most tolerant person that I've ever come across, and good for you for being accepting of anything and everything and just loving and never questioning. I hope that you get more than your just share of Mother's Day gifts because I know lots of parents that would have discarded their children, and grandchildren, given what you and they have experienced.

DeleteThis is 4:10pm again, and believe me, Lynne is both loving and tolerant. There are many of us that grew up and if we didn't toe the line that our family had laid out for us we were disinherited and ignored. Life for some of us is much easier if we just play the game that our family has laid out through the generations and be a "perfect" example of what they expect in order to keep in their good graces, all the while living privately, an entire continent away and be the person they think you are for their twice annual visits.

My personal bottom line opinion, based on my own knowledge and research, is that Franklin Graham is a lying, grifting piece-of-shit and in no way representative of the Christian faith, and he is, was, and never will a man of the caliber of his father.
His father was (is) an antisemite and a grifter, no better than any other televangelist taking money from little old ladies on fixed incomes. Franklin Graham is more blatant in his grifting, but he was raised by his father, which doesn't say much for old Billy. And, make no mistake...Billy was (is) as anti-gay as his son. He supported the NC ban on gay marriage. Just because Billy was smart enough to appear moderate, doesn't mean he was (is).

If anyone tries to change straight people, it would be gay priests, who prey on young boys before they even know what their preferences are. Anyone who doubts that religion is all about $$$ consider how many millions of $$$ the church paid out to keep this scandal quiet. Truly Christian people would have nipped it in the bud, saved thousands of young lives.
