The long wait is over.

I was really bummed last week that my favorite addictive television experience was taking a break until next fall.

However tonight my second favorite addictive television experience returns so I don't have to resort to anything extreme like starting a relationship, taking up stamp collecting, or cleaning my house to fill the gap.

And fortunately I have almost completely recovered from last season's "Red Wedding," an episode so shocking that it damn near traumatized many of its long time viewers.

Besides, I am sure that after last season's culling that most of my favorite characters are safe this time around. Right?

Yeah, I don't believe that either.

    1. I refuse.

It would ruin the series for me at this point.

No it would not. My husband is reading them slowly, it takes a bit to digest them as they are so much richer than the TV series. So much more goes on in the books that a TV series cannot show. There are plot surprises only one who has read the books can know in relation to the series. Start with book 1 and read through book 3.
While I love the series and the books, some parts of each are better than the other. In the case of the red wedding, it is a much more insidious treatment (better) in the books than it was on TV. The TV version was trite and stupid, Rob finding some doll on the battlefield... lame. Better to be a, well I won't spoil it for you but it makes the Lannisters even more cruel and vile than they are on the series.

the books are really good Gryphen. I've read them all twice. The TV series deviates a bit...and I'm waiting to see if they bring it back into alignment with the book series. Can't wait for the last 2 books to be released. highly recommended.

Watched first showing. Let dogs in, locked up for the night, made a big sandwich & getting ready to watch second showing. Life is good.

Reading the books at this point might be confusing. Dany's storyline is verging on Dance with Dragons, not the second half of Storm of Swords. All I've got to say is, George better get on the stick with Winds of Winter.

Next week--the purple wedding. Tick-a-lock, but it's going to be good.

  8. My husband and I got into GoT late, but are now hooked, if only for the extraordinary costumes and sets and locations.

Very complicated with all the different clans who don't stay put, but helpfully the characters wear the same clothes (or none) pretty much week after week. But so much grime -- love it. And unexpected violence. Boof!

But thank gawd the accents are British and not American -- or, imagine southern accents! LOL

This site looks good -- a review of the last night's epi --haven't seen this 4 minute review yet, but want to after hearing Andrew Collins say this about the intricate plot and dozens of characters:
"Remember what David Simon (The Wire) said about the casual viewer -- fuck the casual viewer." And we're off.
