Hillary Clinton's new book sticks a pin in the Republican's Benghazi conspiracy theories.

Courtesy of Politico:

Benghazi — and a pointed rebuttal to Republican critics who’ve laced into her over the incident — in a much-anticipated chapter of her forthcoming book, “Hard Choices,” obtained by POLITICO.

“Those who exploit this tragedy over and over as a political tool minimize the sacrifice of those who served our country,” Clinton writes in the gripping chapter, “Benghazi: Under Attack.”

Casting doubt on the motivations of congressional Republicans who have continued to investigate the attacks, including with an upcoming House select committee, Clinton continues: “I will not be a part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans. It’s just plain wrong, and it’s unworthy of our great country. Those who insist on politicizing the tragedy will have to do so without me.”

The 34-page chapter is Clinton’s most complete account to date of the attack and its aftermath. Her tone is less defensive than defiant: Clinton takes responsibility for the “horror” of the loss of life in Benghazi, but puts it in the context of “the heartbreaking human stakes of every decision we make” — and she accuses adversaries of manipulating a tragedy for partisan gain.

There has been, she writes, a “regrettable amount of misinformation, speculation, and flat-out deceit by some in politics and the media,” but new information from “a number of reputable sources continues to expand our understanding of these events.”

Boy you KNOW this is going to cause the Right Wing to become apoplectic in response to this chapter.

Politico goes on to suggest that Clinton is offering a blueprint for Democrats to use against the Benghazi allegations.

After reading this I am even more excited about Hillary's upcoming appearance on Fox News in June.

I think it very likely might be a blood bath.

Hillary will shred those idiots on Fox. Are you kidding me? She will put them down on the mat faster than they can say 'Roger Ailes'!

And in other news, Sarah's girl is fucking up bigtime...not surprising at all, though.

In final Republican debate before Tuesday's primary, Joni Ernst goes wildly off the rails

Republican state Sen. Joni Ernst may be the frontrunner in Tuesday's GOP primary for Senate in Iowa, but she certainly did herself no favors for the general election in a debate this week with her rivals. Laura Clawson already discussed in detail how Ernst called the UC Santa Barbara mass shootings as "an unfortunate accident," but that was far from the only blunder she made:

Darrell Issa Begrudgingly Says John Kerry No Longer Has To Testify On Benghazi

Kerry slams Cheney: 'Advice from him really has no meaning to me'

    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/207694-kerry-slams-cheney-any-advice-from-him-really-has-no-meaning-to#ixzz33DRVNvoH

Secretary of State John Kerry late Thursday dismissed former Vice President Dick Cheney's comments knocking the Obama administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal plan.

“Any advice from him really has no meaning to me with respect to what we’re doing today,” Kerry said on PBS Newshour.

Kerry said he’s not surprised Cheney would say something “negative” and “wrong.”

“Dick Cheney was completely wrong about Iraq, and we are still struggling with the aftermath of what Dick Cheney and his crew thought was the right policy: To go in and start a war of choice for the wrong reasons. And they turned topsy-turvy the entire region with respect to Sunni and Shia and the relationships there,” Kerry said.

The Bush administration, Kerry said, was “deeply, deeply wrong” in the policy it pursued.

So in other words, like every other politician and former cabinet members after serving in an administration, Hillary wrote a book with a 'catchy' title, and she is going to do some softball interviews where everyone is polite- including this one on fox.

I don't get why this is a big deal to you Gryphen. These days it is pretty much a given that every high level cabinet member (ghost) writes their 'big book' to shape history and their legacy the way they want it to go down and make some $$.

2:09 you may as well be related to the Palin lovers, you are all cut from the same cloth when it comes to unfaltering cult-like defense of your heroes.

Your foolish belief that Hillary doesn't use ghost writers is simply proof to that fact.

Yes, the media and the right-wing have always been soooo nice to Hillary. You aren't too bright I'm guessing.

It's a big deal because she will be our next and first female President, and she is BEYOND qualified for it. You are so jealous because your retarded idol Palin will never reach a fraction of the heights that Hillary has. Palin likes to brag about having a thick skin (one of her favorite delusions, right up there with her delusions of intelligence and competence), but Hillary is really the toughest woman in politics. She has endured vicious attacks on herself and her family, from all directions, for decades. She shakes it off and goes to work. No whining, no quitting, no "feuding" with people who attack her. Sarah isn't worthy of the respect Hillary has earned and she is jealous as hell. She is such a small person, petty and envious of everyone who (deep down) she knows is better than her and would cause her to shit her pants in terror if she ever actually came face-to-face with them to discuss the issues. Sucks to be her idiot fan base, still pinching pennies to fund this fool's expensive, luxurious standard of living in the hopes that she will one day get some guts and run, when she never will because she is a coward. Everyone knows it. Suck it, troll.

Hey 12:53 thanks for the diatribe- once again proving my point that the Hillary lovers at this site are as blindly enamoured with their hero as the Palin lovers are at C4P. By the way what the hell would make you think i'm a Palin fan? Thats a lot of vented bullshit you just spewed out for no-one in particular. But it does make you look kind-of crazy, like a Palin fan, which is funny to me. Thanks for the laugh. Oh- and calling people trolls is getting kind of old and used don't you think?

One more thing, Hillary is going to be the next president no more than Palin is. This country is tired of "it's my turn" dynasties. And Hillary, while loved by her base, is pretty much despised by all the rest.

Hillary is a very, very smart woman. She is savvy in ways that are unique and powerful from her years on the political scene in Arkansas, her years in the White House as first lady and partner to the president, her time in Congress and her time as SOS. Not to mention her stellar education. And then there's Bill, her husband and partner and all that she's shared and witnessed during his presidency. And of course, there's President Barack Obama who she has collaborated with in addressing the most critical national security issues of our time. She is a formidable being of enormous depth and insight. She has made an enormous difference for women around the globe and she is deeply respected by world leaders.

    The GOP ain't got shit.

But they will be throwing everything they can at her to try and slow her momentum, take her down and stop her from becoming the first woman president of the U.S.A. If she chooses to run, I will be right there supporting her all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

What I like about Hillary is that she won't take bullshit from the Republicans. She's not afraid to address their idiocy and be blunt about it. They are not going to know what hit them when they come up against her on an individual basis and it's going to be fun to watch!

I hope she runs because I know she'll win and the Republicans are really going to be one pissed group having another eight years of Democratic led government!

Voters - get the Republicans out of office wherever you can in the next election cycle - especially in the U.S. Congress! Kick their asses to the pavement!

Fox News Suffers Worst Ratings In Thirteen Years – And That’s Not Their Big Problem

Fox News has fallen and it can’t get up. Ratings for the month of May 2014, have just been published, and the numbers are devastating for Fox News. While still occupying the top slot among the cable news networks, Fox saw about a quarter of its audience dissolve across every demographic group and time period.

Every Fox program in primetime dropped by double-digits, with Bill O’Reilly taking the deepest dive. Sean Hannity posted some of his lowest numbers ever in his new 10:00 pm time slot. And Megyn Kelly’s new, and highly anticipated, primetime show failed to improve on the ratings performance of her predecessor.

It'll be fascinating to see how quickly the GOP drops the whole Benghazi circus and pivots to the VA -- although they're so complicit in cutting funding for the VA, they might steer clear of that after they've yelled their miserable lungs out for a week or two.

Weekly Standard writer and Fox News contributor Stephen Hayes broke ranks from his fellow conservatives and colleagues at Fox by agreeing with Hillary Clinton's assessment that her critics have mischaracterized her congressional testimony on the Benghazi attacks.

Hillary Clinton is right about Benghazi -- or at least she's right about one thing.

According to a story by Maggie Haberman about the Benghazi chapter in Clinton's forthcoming book Hard Choices, the former secretary of state contends that some of her critics have badly mischaracterized the now infamous question she asked at a January 23, 2012, congressional hearing: "What difference, at this point, does it make?"

She's right, they have. The question, which came in the middle of a heated back-and-forth with U.S. senator Ron Johnson, was not so much a declaration of indifference as it was an attempt to redirect the questioning from its focus on the hours before the attacks to preventing similar attacks in the future.

I can picture her leaning back in her chair after writing that chapter, intertwining her fingers and cracking her knuckles. This is one book I'm going to devour with relish.
If she wants it and decides to run, she's got it. The GOP has nothing comparable in one candidate.
Fasten your seatbelts, (yes you, Sarah) it's going to be a bumpy ride. (ht Bette Davis)
