Hillary says that Benghazi is "more of a reason to run." Republicans say "What?"

Courtesy of Politico:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the criticism for her handling of the 2012 attack in Benghazi is “more of a reason” to run for the presidency in 2016 than not.

“Actually, it’s more of a reason to run, because I do not believe our great country should be playing minor league ball,” Clinton told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, according to a transcript. “We ought to be in the majors.”

In the interview, Clinton says she takes responsibility for what happened and that she “would give anything on earth if this had not happened.” But she also told Sawyer that she “was not making security decisions” and relied on security experts for their judgment on maintaining security at the consulate.

Man that is a pretty bold statement considering the fact that the Republicans are counting on using Benghazi to beat Clinton until she tucks tail and runs in 2016.

In fact they are already preparing their strategy:

On Monday, the Republican National Committee will distribute a briefing book of talking points for a wide range of Republican-elected officials, campaigns, surrogates and pundits. With the briefing book, which is primarily a compilation of other research documents the party has released, the RNC hopes to hone the Republican message around Clinton's memoir, which is set to hit bookshelves Tuesday.

There are seven areas that national Republicans hope their communicators and politicians will focus on when talking about Clinton's book: Benghazi, Russia, the Arab Spring, Asia, Israel, Iran and her overall management of the State Department.

The 47-page book argues that Clinton, the Democratic Party's likely frontrunner for the 2016 nomination should she run, "shied away from serious diplomacy" in her time at State and attempts to use those areas to prove their point.

"It's clear Hillary Clinton is testing the waters for a 2016 run for the White House but questions continue to surface about her failed record at the State Department from Benghazi to the Russian Reset and Boko Haram," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.

Among the top issues Republicans hope to highlight: Benghazi, an issue they write "continues to be the defining moment of Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State."

So it looks like Clinton is planning on running at her attackers instead of running from them, in an attempt to knock them off balance.

You know that is a technique we learned in martial arts called "jamming," in which you step in close as an opponent prepares to punch or kick, making it difficult for them to recalibrate their attack and opening them up to various counterattacks.

It is highly effective, and if Hillary manages to avoid any solid hits over Benghazi by moving in close and opening up the topic herself, she could effectively remove the GOP's only real weapon to use against her (The others are not even worth mentioning.), and leave them essentially defenseless.

That my friends is political Jujitsu.

I didn't vote for Mrs. Clinton when she ran for president against Senator Obama. I didn't think she was ready.

If Mrs. Clinton runs for president in 2016 I would vote for her twice over.

Mrs. Clinton is ready to take on all comers.

Hillary seems to have hit a raw nerve by staying above the fray. No one is going to bother to make a serious comment about Sarah any more because she has become a joke, a laughing stock, a caricature of herself.

Just watched 'Good Morning America' and the interview w/Hillary. She handled the subject of Sarah Palin brilliantly, basically making her a 'non entity' (but not saying anything negative about her!) and when asked who her favorite Republican was - she named John McCain! Loved it!!

Damn, but she is one bright woman. She has my vote!

Not quite the reaction the Repubs were expecting. Too funny.

ot What kind of person exploits a wedding? I know country stars Blake Shelton and wife made sure cell phones weren't at their wedding so they could make it as special and private as possible. Then you have Levi who found the one girl who is willing to forego all sense of privacy and specialness for her beloved wedding just so they could have a cheap tabloid pay for it. He'd much rather spend money on the boat he bought last year, the 2014 truck, 100 gifts under the tree for a small family...All those silly things for lack of a special moment.
And the exploitation of his 2nd baby, whom he had with his non-celeb wife.

All of that makes you truly ponder HOW such a boy could ever have any credence to criticize ANYONE about anything. Not that he's capable of communication. He let the cowans pen their book of 1000 lies.

    Truly a hypocritical person.

    To each his own though.

Hey "Dude," did you even notice the topic of the post is Hillary Clinton? You are so stuck on h8ing on Levi that one wonders whether you even have a life elsewhere. "SMH" over sad little persons trapped in the intertubes.

Gryphen, I know I'm not even close to Beldar's snark, but DAYUM, this Levi troll is boring!

Somebody hasn't gotten over Levi. That's so 5 or 6 years ago. And it doesn't help that someone's parents kicked him to the curb and handed out special appearances as a "reward."

Who would exploit a wedding? Leaving the Kardashians out of it for a minute, I'm thinking of a very pregnant bride holding her little bunch of flowers in front of her belly for the posed photo of the mountain wedding. Which is worse, exploiting a wedding, or shamefully exploiting a little boy for 5 years? Let he (or she) who is without sin (and a truck and a boat) cast the first stone.

We talk about Levi's book again.

Here I fixed it for ya:

Not that Bristol is capable of communication. She let Nancy French pen her book of 1000 lies.

She also lets Nancy French write all her blog entries.

Hmm, who's the hypocritical one again?

Any insight on why Nancy moved the comments from the blog over to twitter and "cleaned up" the comments from day one on the ones that are left?
      Thanks in advance

You GO, Hillary! I personally can't wait until $arah and RAM unleash their crazy in regard to her, especially when she just explained in her book why she refused to comment on Queen Heifer in '08. They will look even more petty and vindictive than they do now.....if that's even possible.

Sarah Palin will be like a fly on a wall when it comes to Hillary Clinton should she run for POTUS.

Palin will continue to have no impact. Remember, the Republican party is the group that would not let her even into their Convention when Mitt Romney was running for POTUS and lost.

RAM and Sarah probably slept late. Notice how fast the post that mentioned Hillary and the war on women went up? I'm sure Sarah isn't the only one singled out in the book, Hillary already mentioned her "relationship" with John McCain (not good) and he didn't even bother to tweet, facebook, instagram, send smoke signals, nor run to the sunday news circuit to bleat his discontent.

at c4p, discussing HC, someone interjected with this; I just thought it was too funny:

"I wish McDaniel would have a rally with Sarah, Cruz, Ron Paul and Santorum. Talk about a diverse group!"

That's their idea of diverse?? I think we found the right's problem, they are STUPID.

Hillary is pretty brilliant-she writes a book /plans a tour/gets her story out/ and causes the republicans to unload everything on her now so in 2016 what have they got to use? Nada!!!!
She has my vote in 2016. She has spent the last six years creating her own story-separate from bill.

To the troll in love with Levi at 5:03 and 5:09 we have moved past the 2008 election and have watched Hillary work in the Obama administration for years, have seen her grow and change and will support her run and vote for her.

You however are stuck in wasilla. The world is moving on without you and you don't even seem to notice. Pathetic.

Watched Hillary's interview last night! I don't know why she'd run for POTUS and subject herself to the Republican bullshit, but she's brilliant, experienced and knows so much more than any Republican that can be put up against her!

I will campaign for her - send money and vote for her! Can hardly wait!

I was impressed with her interview, and I like the way she thinks. Diane Sawyer tried to pin her to take responsibility for Benghazi again, and again, then again, and one more time just to be sure. Hillary's response was brilliant (wouldn't do it justice to try to paraphrase it).

I've always been impressed with Hillary, but I felt that even more after watching the interview.

She's always been an extremely intelligent woman and, between Bill's campaigns for governor and President, the Lewinski scandal, her campaigns for Senate and President, and her experience as Secretary of State, there is NOTHING the right can throw at her that she can't handle.

She's been through the best and worst that politics has to offer, and come out even stronger and more popular than ever.

I remember "jamming" from my kid's martial arts training. There's also the law of inertia, when an object is approaching you under their own volition, you simply extend that motion, sending the object careening into a wall, a chair or to the ground. My son could flip a guy twice his size with two fingers, as a last resort, of course!
I'll tell you this, After watching two interviews with Hillary, I was really impressed with how fast on her feet she is and how she has a way of answering the question with just the right words and inflection.
