Texas Governor Rick Perry has decided to send the National Guard to the border. Sheriffs along the border towns are not thrilled.

So yeah Rick Perry has decided that just showing up on the border and trying to look tough with your bullet proof vest and hat on backwards is just not macho enough.

So he has decided to send the Texas National Guard down to the border to look tough for him.

And the sheriff's working in those border town could not be more underwhelmed:

Sheriffs and others along the border said they had not been consulted. They questioned the wisdom of sending military personnel who are not authorized to stop anyone.

“At this time, a lot of people do things for political reasons. I don’t know that it helps,” said Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio.

He and other sheriffs said spending money to hire more deputies and police makes more sense. Lucio said deputies, police and the U.S. Border Patrol work well together and that they have been able to handle the small uptick in crime along the border.

“I don’t know what good they can do,” Lucio said of military personnel. “You just can’t come out here and be a police officer.”

Wait, do you mean simply showing up at the border with guns and military equipment will do little good?

Perhaps somebody should tell Governor Political Opportunist that.

And is THIS the kind of unhelpful and unnecessary action that the Republicans have been urging President Obama to take?

What I want to know is how many days could Texas survive without our workers who have crossed the border? I give us one day. Governor Good Hair certainly hires companies that import laborers to work here. Nothing in the state would get done without them.

Isn't Texas known for creating a huge number of low-paying minimum (or below) wage jobs?

The news camera could break as it's covering Perry's triumphant return to personally seal the border in his manly kevlar vest and khaki uniform.

After all, isn't press coverage for Ricky Boy the entire point of this whole useless exercise?

Oh yeah, and children could be killed, either by intention or by accident. But they're brown and will probably vote Democrat in 15 years so the Gov doesn't really care about that.

I read two pages of the comments and all but one was derogatory toward Palin.

I thought TMZ was HER group (group of groupies?).

I take it as a good sign that even the people at TMZ are sick of her and have nothing good to say.

Hairy, being Hairy....he said he is sending the bill to the Feds so the rest of us can pick up the tab (I guess he needs some more federal money to balance the state budget.

    Send soldiers to the border...
    to do what, exactly?
    Shoot children?
Is that what the conservative dream for America is:
    we shoot children now?
    Hungry, desperate little kids?

"How do you people sleep at night?"

Most likely with a glock under the pillow, an AR beside the bed, and a shotgun over the door because you know...freedom.

These are desperate children who have traveled more than 1,500 miles from Central America, through Mexico where they face danger from ruthless drug cartels, in an effort to escape crushing poverty and rampant violence in their home countries.

These big, brave gun nuts finally found someone they aren't afraid of confronting.

I guess, if you are a 21st century conservative fundamentalist in the US today, it's fair game to shoot children. They're not the same as the unborn, precious fetuses they once were.

Fucking Prick Perry is about as scary as Daffy Duck. By the way, did I miss the headlines? How many kids did the boys shoot while they were playing bad ass gun boaters? What do you mean none? But... but....

Something tells me this stunt is so Prick Perry can get an official GWBUSH inspired "Elian Gonzalez" photo op. Shame on him for doing this, scaring kids who've been through hell, and wasting our military resources for personal edification and immigration "creds" for the next assclown circus.

You're a small, small man and a bully, Mr Perry.

I wonder how much of this is due in part to the fact that most of the border counties are solidly blue? This might be a way of usurping local authority as well as Perry thumbing his nose at the local politics.

These sites are for the most part just a ripoff, using databases that are frequently years out of date. To add insult to injury, they use cheap pricing to get you hooked and if you do find information for an individual you will find that it costs more fees to get additional information. That's the basic model of all these sites.

Been there, done that. For example, I recently found an "address" for an old highschool friend whom I wanted to reconnect with and the information all looked to be current -- even their age. I paid the fee only to find out later that the individual had died eight years prior.

Go ahead, sign up with instantcheckmate.com and find out just how easy -- not -- it is to cancel your membership. You might have better luck just cancelling your credit card.
