Conservative columnist calls for the removal of Ted Nugent from the NRA board of directors.

Courtesy of Media Matters:

Rapid City Journal columnist Frank Carroll, a member of the National Rifle Association, is calling for NRA board member Ted Nugent and "anyone else who either backs him or avoids their responsibility to confront him" to be removed from the NRA's leadership.

Nugent caused widespread controversy this year over his characterization of President Obama as a "subhuman mongrel." Citing that comment and Nugent's lengthy history of racially inflammatory commentary, several concert organizers have canceled Nugent appearances while other concerts have been protested.

In an August 12 column, Carroll called the NRA "an organization I belong to and agree with on many issues," while bemoaning that Nugent is a representative of the gun group. He added, "No wonder conservatives are struggling to lead in this country. At the very time we need authentic, humane, passionate conservatives and patriots the most, the best we can come up with are people like Nugent? Get real, NRA. Nugent has to go." Carroll also took issue with other members of NRA leadership, including Fox News contributor Oliver North, who have refused to condemn Nugent's inflammatory commentary:

"What's really not OK is the failure of NRA leaders to unequivocally and immediately suspend Nugent from further representation of the NRA and our members. Instead our leaders, from Oliver North down the line, have equivocated, dodged, danced and tiptoed around an issue from which there is no escape. Nugent must go, for the sake of the integrity of our organization and our own credibility as members of a powerful and nation-wide lobby engaged in guaranteeing the rights and responsibilities of free Americans."

Well this seems like a no shit thing to say.

I mean the NRA leadership has its fair share of wingnuts, but none of them are as wingnutty as Captain Poopy Pants.

I would think that ANY organization, that wanted to be taken seriously in any way, would make as much distance between themselves and Nugent as humanly possible.

And the fact that the NRA has so far failed to realize that says quite a lot about them, and about the people they are trying to attract to their organization.

Unless there is a mass desertion of dues-paying members, and pressure from gun makers over Nugent's presence, which ain't gonna happen, NRA has zero incentive to ditch thugs like Nugent. Nugent is more representative of their vile kind than journalists who actually use words like "humane."

My mate USED to belong to the NRA. Whenever it was that the Alaskan shrew first spoke at one their little pep rallies, I sure let him know about it. Would you believe the NRA called a few days later trying to talk him into a lifetime membership?

He let them go on and on. Then when they asked if they could sign him up, he told them no. He didn't care to be a part of any group that would have the someone like sarah palin representing them.

Oh yea! I'm proud! That's my man. He is THE man. He feels the same way about the pants shitter. He really wishes that these freaks would sit the fuck down and shut their worthless mouths.

Nugent has found his home in the NRA, an organization that (these days) is irresponsible and unreasonable. Nugent is an excellent voice for NRA and I have to assume he's representative of their entire Board of Directors. They are a perfect match for each other.

Conservatives have a lot of problems besides Ted Nugent. Like the dearth of any ideas that actually help the American people.

Sorry, Mr. Carroll. You OWN this pants crapping racist. I can't think of a better hood ornament for the NRA or the GOP.

Ollie North: 16 felony indictments, convicted on three including lying to Congress and shredding White House documents.

He's a hero to the conservatives.

...IF Iran ever develops nuclear warheads, we know that they'll have the missiles to deliver them because good ol' Ollie North sold them the technology.

It boggles the mind that Fox News and their viewers consider him any kind of "hero".

I'm banned from C4P but I went on someone else s computer to give them a laugh. Sadly comments have dropped considerably. Which is a laugh in itself.
Get to it Willow and Bristol. Fake some comments. Mama Bear's fan club is dwindling. Or perhaps their Windows 95 computers are giving them problems.

How about removing him from humanity? That'd be a fine start.

He promised that he'd either be in jail or have removed himself from humanity if Obama was elected to a second term. Once again he proved himself to be all mouth and no action; a little pussy draft dodger that runs around killing animals to make himself feel like a man. He's disgusting.

The problem is endemic to conservative brain wiring: Trolling liberals is so much fun it short circuits the logic and self preservation centers of their brains. it's like meth, they just can't stop, reality be (literally) damned.

This is exactly what we need and part of why Gabby and Mark have been fighting so hard to get done. We need more responsible gun owners and gun rights advocates to speak up, it's the only way to really get this conversation going and finding common ground is a great start.
