New GOP ad sets out to convince Americans that Republicans are people too. Nice try.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

A new video from a veteran of Mitt Romney‘s 2012 campaign seeks to end the “partisan vitriol” aimed at the GOP by helpfully informing people that there are Republicans out there who read the New York Times in public, drive hybrid cars, have dark skin, and/or have a beard and tattoos. They also sometimes purchase and then put together Ikea furniture.

Well according to this advertisement Republicans are just like the rest of us, and supposedly they have feelings too.

Really? Then how do you explain this guy?

And here's the thing, if you have to actually create an ad to convince people that you are also people, doesn't that say something fundamental about your humanity?

The motto of the Republican Party today should be: I got mine and the hell with you.

  5. Okay, republicans. We remember that you told us that corporations were people, and you made it very clear that those "people" were the only ones that you were interested in helping.

But thanks for that swell look at all the stereotypes that you think mean "Democrat."

It was amazing...what and who they identified as 'Democrats'. Who on earth thinks like this? I try to eat organic vegetables so therefore I'm a Democrat but could be a Republican too? I shop at Ikea and that is their idea of a Democrat...but they need to point out Republicans shop there too? I could go on and on but this ad just perfectly illustrates how blind these people are and how they try to categorize people by their activities rather than how they form opinions and what motivates them to join one party or another. Pathetic.

Because the right wing is SO trustworthy:

"According to the News Observer, the North Carolina State Board of Elections says hundreds of North Carolinans and at least one housecat have received incorrect voter registration information from Koch-tied Americans for Prosperity."

"The Huffington Post reports that the mailers “contained conflicting information about the deadline to submit voter registration forms, incorrect contact information for the Secretary of State and State Board of Elections offices and an incorrect explanation about how voters are notified that their information has been received.”"

Naturally, AFP claims that they were innocent errors and that the overall voter registration campaign has been successful. I would expect that an organization as well-funded as AFP would have professionals who could insure that ALL of the information they were distributing was accurate and up-to-date. ONE mistake could be explained away but multiple mistakes that could ultimately result in potential voters not being properly registered being an innocent error is beyond belief.

I'd be curious to know exactly who these mailers went to and who was responsible for producing such a piece of (deliberately) inaccurate trash.

The State Board of Elections has been receiving hundreds of complaints about the mailers. Let's hope they perform a thorough and timely investigation.

These ads come from the corporate puppet masters of course. They are only effective with the terrified gun and bible hugger folks who do not have ... how do you say it? ... discriminating intelligence. Those folks already vote against their self interest and are easily herded.

Cheney, of all Republicans, should not be stumpin' for them! The photos of him are pure nastiness! His supposed smile is a classic! Plus, he and POTUS Bush started that war w/lies in doing so!!! And, he is a proven war monger!

I'm amused (and more than a little sad) at the boxes they try to put everyone in--ManxMamma has it right. But I'm also wondering if there is a slight subliminal attempt to 'accept' gay couples with the "Gourmet Cooks" portion. ?? Note it's two older-ish men cooking together. Maybe I'm being overly cynical?
