Following a night filled with rockets’ red glare and bombs bursting in air, Francis Scott Key awoke 200 years ago this morning to see our beautiful flag still flying over Baltimore Harbor at dawn's early light. The stunning sight of the red, white, and blue banner calmly waving in the wind following a night of fierce battle inspired Key to pen the poem “The Star Spangled Banner,” which later became our national anthem and my personal favorite song. My family and I were fortunate to visit Fort McHenry in Baltimore during our 2011 "One Nation" bus tour – a truly memorable stop! Every time I hear this beautiful song and place my hand over my heart, I feel it bursting with pride to be an American, and I’m thankful to vets – like my son and others – who have fought hard to keep us the land of the free and the home of the brave! Almost as if somebody wanted people to know that she was still around but did not want to draw too much undue attention to herself.
As for our freedom being the result of any hard fighting by her son Track, from what I hear if our freedom were contingent on his fighting abilities we would all be standing in front of the Union Jack and singing "God Save the Queen."
By the way let me take a moment to clear up a misconception about the night of the fight.
I have been trying to figure out if Tripp witnessed the fight as was reported here on IM, or if he was indeed in the stretch Hummer when the fists started flying. And finally I can report with absolute certainty that he was in the vehicle during the brawl.
He was indeed at the party when the family first arrived, but apparently got tired and was escorted to the Hummer before his mom, uncle, and grandfather started picking fights and getting their asses kicked.
There is no indication that anything about the incident would have turned out any differently if he WAS there, but as it turned out he just wasn't.
I can also report that some of the family members who joined him afterward were still bleeding and that he was not spared the details of the fight.
I know that a lot of people, myself included, thought that perhaps the story of Tripp being in the Humvee was a Palin plant, but as it turns out it is accurate. And this source is ironclad, believe me it would take an incredibly trustworthy source for me to accept this correction.
P.S. Before anybody asks I do not know who took Tripp back to the vehicle, nor do I know if anybody stayed there with him.

If everyone gave the exact same report it would look really fishy. Depending on what someone heard, where they were standing, when they got involved the story will be different. Only on TV are the many subplots wrapped up in 50 minutes.
Sarah Palin nearly always appears to be medicated to some extent. It's possible that she does not drink alcohol currently but it's very unlikely that she was not under the influence of some substance (prescription or not) on fight night.

I am relieved that Tripp was spared seeing the drunken brawl, but I am sure he was not spared the aftermath of adrenaline, alcohol,, and drug induced outrage that most likely was relived over and over all the way home. Children are very sensitive to the emotions of adults. How will Tripp deal with all of that? Will he also become angry and want to protect his mom? Or will he be fearful of all that "adult" behavior?

The police were unaware that some people were on drugs? They should all be fired. They had reason to search the limo but did they? If people were hiding Tripp because they knew there would be charges for their crimes, those people need to be charged with concealing, obstruction or whatever on top of the child abuses.

ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that they fed out that crap to that kid (who looks like he's 15) on Real Clear Politics because they are afraid to actually put any of their names on it, because it differs fundamentally from the 2-3 eyewitnesses who were brave enough, and sure enough, to put their own names on their comments either to ABC and/or to Coyne. If any of that family "owns up" to their version, even the police, who are said to be investigating might come down hard on them for their version being so different from the 10-15 eyewitness reports they recorded at the party. We won't see any of the Palins brave enough to put their own names on their alternative versions. It's just meant to muddy the waters and make them seem to have been "attacked".

Conroy, the little young looking dweeb from Real Clear Politics, was on the McCain/Palin campaign trail with Shushanah Walsh in 2008 as reporters and then they wrote a butt-sucking book about her in 2009 called Sarah from Alaska. He's older than he looks and yes, he's a bit of a Palin apologist but Real Clear Politics, his home base, is owned by Forbes which often doesn't take sides politically.

Think about it. Sarah dragged some of her brood everywhere in Alaska when she was elected governor, many times to places the retinue wasn't invited. I remember reading stories in the ADN about how surprised hosts of one or another Palin-attended event were to see her with Bristol, Willow and possibly even (then) very young Piper tagging along.

DeleteObviously the C4P's have never had the opportunity to actually eat moose. I have once, in my 25 years in Alaska and I'll never, ever eat it again. I have some in my freezer right now that a friend gave me (it happens every year and we don't have the heart to tell them we don't like it!) but our dogs sure do and they have about 10lbs of roast and steak and hot dogs and burger that they will feast on throughout the winter! When they ask we say "yum it was great", while it is our dogs that have the biggest smiles :-)
The best thing that Sarah could do for herself is own this fight. Not deny it or try to whitewash what happened, but own it. It is really her only way out of this mess. Like Hugh Grant going on Leno (or was it Letterman) and owning the incident in the car with the hooker. Just fess up to stupid and move on. People might even respect that. But as we all know, that is not how our Sarah rolls. She had to deny and lie about everything.

For that matter, if he was "left sleeping in the hummer", I doubt that was the first time that happened. IOW, that wasn't Tripp's first rodeo. Knowing what we all know of Sarah Palin's parenting, it's easy to imagine that she raised her brood the same way Bristol is raising Tripp -- even though Sarah was married through the majority of Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper's upbringing. Sarah was negligent about making sure they attended school, shipped Track off for many months when he got in trouble, shipped Bristol off when she had "mono". What was Willow's punishment for playing a major part in the Morlock house B&E and then trashing the house to the tune of $30 or $35,000? All more indications that Sarah is a negligent parent so why expect Bristol to know how to raise Tripp?
