Blame Obama. Or not.

Courtesy of Bloomberg News:

The U.S. is proving to be an oasis of prosperity in the midst of a troubled world economy.

Unemployment (USURTOT) dropped to a six-year low of 5.9 percent in September as payrolls rose by a greater-than-forecast 248,000, a Labor Department report showed yesterday. Other data this week showed U.S. factories had their strongest quarter in more than three years, while exports rose to a record in August.

St. Louis-based Macroeconomic Advisers bumped up its estimate of third-quarter growth to 3.3 percent, from 2.8 percent, after government data published yesterday showed the U.S. trade deficit shrank in August to its lowest level in seven months.

“The internal dynamics of the economy are very strong right now,” said Nariman Behravesh, chief economist in Lexington, Massachusetts, for consultants IHS Inc. “We can withstand a lot of shocks.”

U.S. stocks rose with the dollar as the jobs data boosted confidence in the economy. After weakening earlier in the week on concerns about global growth, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 1.1 percent to 1,967.9 yesterday in New York. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index climbed to a four-year high.

The solid performance by the U.S. contrasts with what’s happening in much of the rest of the world. The euro area’s economy stagnated in the second quarter and is suffering from the softest inflation in five years, while a consumer-tax increase in Japan triggered its biggest economic contraction since 2009.

You know since the conservatives like to blame virtually everything..

...and I mean EVERYTHING on this President you might think they would almost have to give him credit for this as well, especially since the Republicans have done absolutely nothing except attempt to block every single thing he has don.

But of course they won't. Because by doing so they would have to admit that the President is actually doing a damn fine job in most areas, and that goes against everything in the Republican playbook.

But hey, speaking of playbooks, perhaps Democrats running for office right now might want to add this to theirs. You know perhaps stop letting the conservatives force them to distance themselves from the President, and instead publicize the many good things his administration has accomplished and brag about how they helped get them done?

No? Too hard?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Typical 1%er driving an expensive Mercedes and blaming President Obama for 'Ebola"! Pure bullshit and nonsense.

No 'one' person is at fault for the disease - especially our outstanding POTUS!

Get a life, Republicans and do something to help the USA vs constantly trying (and doing so - thank you Ted Cruz!) to bring it down.

Hope many of you get your kissers kicked in the November elections throughout the country!

Just imagine what great shape the country woild have been in by now, if the other side had actually done what they were elected to do - THE PEOPLES BUSINESS. Instead, they blocked everything, even the NOT SO Supreme Court helped them. Mitch Turtle McConnell is not doing too well even after doing everything the Koch's told him to do. I want to see EVERY repub/teabagger go down in flames. Any working class person who votes gop needs a mental examination. Our President calmly goes about his job, making them even more upset that they can not rattle him. He IS what this country needs, a STRONG leader.

That bumper sticker is outrageously offensive to me. It would be offensive regardless of who the scapegoat was. The more I learn about Ebola and discuss information with fellow health care workers the more absurd blaming one person in the world is.

Yeah, the economy is looking up -- if you're a member of the 1%, i.e. Obama's people. The rest of us? Never, ever, EVER forget Obama's Simpson-Bowles Commission, and its proposal to chain Social Security benefits, which would have hurt the most vulnerable.

As for blaming Obama for things over which he has little to zero control, no, I don't do that. But I DO look at how his administration has let the big bankers who tanked the economy skate, and promoted anti-worker trade agreements like the Trans Pacific Partnership, and how it supports AMAZON in the suit Amazon workers brought against it for forcing them to undergo lengthy OFF-THE-CLOCK screenings before they can leave the premises each night. And I take ALL Of that into consideration before I start cheering over good economic news. Because it sure is narrowly targeted.

      Pobody's Nerfect!

There has not been, is not now, nor ever will be a President that does EVERYTHING right!

MOST of what he does in the economic realm is cleanup for that idiot Bush!

But you seem to fail to look at the rest of what is involved in his job - or at least, mention it. We have two wars that are either ended or coming to a close. There appears to be a strong consensus among governments about a lot of things happening in the world. And he is attempting to get the Arab world to handle the situation with ISIL (or ISIS, depending on your preference). If WE tried to handle it with boots not the ground it would be seen as another attempt by the US to control them and their people's lives, thus throwing more support their way.

Had McCain and the idiot been elected, we would still have 2 wars and possibly another with Russia. And we WOULD be sending troops to the Middle East against ISIL.

Personally, I think those are pretty impressive points to consider when talking about praise for a President.

C'mon, Leland. Show a little respect. She was the Republican's nominee for Vice President of The United States, a heartbeat away from being the leader of the Free World and the most powerful person on the planet.

The "t" and "i" in "the idiot" should ALWAYS be capitalized.

"Had McCain and The Idiot been elected, we would still have 2 wars and possibly another with Russia."

      That looks better, doesn't it?

I don't believe so, BJC. Capitalizing things gives them credit for at least being a proper name. That idiot would know proper if it bit her in the ass!

No, Leland. I'm not failing to realize ANYTHING. I am very well informed. But, I do not feel compelled to defend the indefensible, simply because a Democrat is in the oval office, any more than I feel compelled to place undeserved blame.

I decided a long time ago that if I would criticize Bush for doing it (or not doing it), then I'm going to criticize Obama for doing it (or not doing it).

Then SAY so. Everything you listed is a "failure" item. Equal time requires balanced statements. Even your opening statement is not accurate - or at the very least, misleading! The expendable cash levels for a large number of the population is UP, not just the 1%ers.

And ANYONE in the stock market - and there is a huge number of "smaller" investors in there - is better off today than when Obama got into office.

Are there crooks who should have been prosecuted? Certainly. Hell, NIXON should have been! But shoulda, coulda, woulda is NOT a game governments should play.

I am not saying he is perfect! Just asking for a more balanced statement.

Speaking of federal politics, here are Lisa Murkowski and Mark Begich in bed together. Lisa will of course deny it in the morning even while she's doing the walk of shame, because she's a Republican and there's nothing a Republican won't lie about.

It is amazing to see the non-stop ads that are being run against Senator Mark Begich on Channel 2 (Republican slanted channel!) every day. It's damn near constant!

Channel 2 is making big bucks from outsiders paying for all these ads. It's friggin' amazing!

Wish we'd see more negative run as to Dan Sullivan, the carpetbagger who is also very much anti women!

He'd join the U.S. Congress Republicans (if elected) and continue the mass obstruction against President Obama. He's not someone that would work for Alaskans as does Senator Mark Begich!

Get the vote out and vote for Senator Mark Begich in November! I've already voted absentee, cast my vote for him and was proud to do so! Remember too that Senator Begich is sitting on Committees in our Congress and has seniority which is another plus for Alaska. He and Murkowski have worked together on many items too! Check the facts!

Ads for both candidates are out of control both in my mail and on TV. I checked my mail two days ago and there was a small tree's worth of glossy flyers, some very ornate and as large as 14x12'! 3 for Begich, 3 for Sullivan, folded and crammed in my mailbox, things that went directly to the recycle bin without reading (except to photograph them to document the waste and find out who produced and mailed them). I realize the candidates have no control over these ads as 2 of Begich were paid for by the National Association of Realtors, and 1 by the Democratic Party of Alaska, and 1 Sullivan was from the Republican Party of Alaska and 2 were from an arm of Focus on the Family but I don't care who was paying, the waste was abhorrent. The utter waste of resources producing these brochures is indicative of what is wrong with the election process today.

Talked to a friend who runs a print shop and she had received them as well and said that the largest of the ads, both the Begich and Sullivan would have cost over $1 each to produce and even using bulk mail would have cost nearly that to mail. So that's around $12 of crap that was sent to who knows how many mailboxes, the major percentage of which probably just tossed them.

I realize that these are giant, rich political and business organizations and SuperPACS but it is still a disgusting waste of money and resources.

Just seeing all that crap in my mailbox gave me more understanding of how SarahPAC spends so much on direct mail/postage!

Okay, rant over, thanks for listening :-)

9:08 AM I experienced the same thing when I went to my mailbox yesterday. Brought them in the house and reviewed each - to see who was supporting/providing them. Total waste of money! I tore each one of them up and threw them in the garbage.

I've already made up my mind for whom to vote, so none of these glossy flyers meant anything to me.

It is sick seeing all the money being spent on TV ads! It's absolutely appalling. The only ones benefiting are the TV stations that are making huge bucks!

I have always found the treatment of our wonderful President Obama (since the first day he was elected) to be the most horrific any POTUS has ever had to endure!

And, all because he is black! The Republicans couldn't handle it and have been nasty and evil toward him ever since.

Thank God, he is, and has always remained, cool under fire! He's done an excellent job and I'll bet goes down in history (a few years from now) as one of our best POTUS!

Morons, when there are less available jobs and less people in the workforce than there were when he first took office, then of course the unemployment rate is going to go down.

Your failure of a POTUS is allowing an EBOLA virus and a highly potent entro virus into the country. The latter is ALL on him thanks to the flood of illegal immigrants that he let enter via the Southern border.

    2. Hey, moron at 8:35, there have been Ebola outbreaks for decades. Modern travel and the insidious nature of the virus have made it harder to control. Now factor in unreasoning fear and take into consideration that while you're freaking out about Ebola and blaming Obama, we already have a scary and truly deadly virus here that leaves some of its victims with polio-like paralysis. And this virus seems to be airborne. The CDC considers airborne viruses to be if the worst then among the worst. We have Hanta virus in this country too and it is invariably fatal. So get a clue and a get a grip.

Uh huh. And you don't feel that Congress's lack of action - for well over twenty years! - had anything to do with the illegal situation? Which Obama got STUCK with, by the way.

He didn't LET it happen. It was ALREADY happening!

Learn to read and research for yourself, stupid!

As for the Ebola virus? The same panic shit was attempted with the AIDS virus, jackass! It was just another way of stomping on the gays and drug users. According to THAT panic, though, ONLY gays and drug users got the AIDS virus. How did that work for ya, huh?

Grow Up! And if you really feel put upon by what Obama is doing? You can always emigrate!

The ONLY way our economy will ever get better is if we bring more manufacturing back onto our shores, so in reality this is as good as it is going to get. Oil is booming, tech industry is booming, construction is booming.

Imagine the Good President Obama could have done with that and half a congress that does it's job.
