Colorado just elected an exorcist to their House of Representatives. And here you thought YOUR state had gone off the deep end.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

The radical anti-LGBT religious activist Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt won a seat in the Colorado House of Representatives with almost 70 percent of the vote, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.

The former Navy chaplain’s victory was not surprising, as Republicans outnumber Democrats by a 2-to-1 margin in the El Paso County district Klingenschmitt now represents.

The notoriously anti-LGBT Klingenschmitt came to national attention last year, when he attempted to exorcise a “demonic spirit” from President Barack Obama.

“We pray against the domestic enemies of the Constitution,” Klingenschmitt said, his eyes tightly closed, “against this demon of tyranny who is using the White House occupant. That demonic spirit is oppressing us.”

Here is the video of Klingenschmitt "exorcising" the demonic spirit from the White House.

As you can see it was clearly not a REAL exorcism (There was not green puke or anything), and if it was it was the laziest one that I have ever witnessed, and I have actually seen a fair number.

Here is more from Think Progress:

Here is a collection of choice Klingenschmitt quotes:

1. “Almighty God, today we pray imprecatory prayers from Psalm 109 against the enemies of religious liberty…who recently issued a press release attacking me personally… Let their days be few, and replace them with godly people. Plunder their fields and seize their assets. Cut off their descendants. And remember their sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

2. “She gave her life to Jesus. She welcomed the Holy Spirit. And I looked into her eyes as she began to weep and I said, “You foul spirit of lesbianism, this woman has renounced you, come out of her in Jesus’ name,’ and she began to wrestle with that and suddenly her eyes began to bug out and then she began to weep, and weep, and weep as the Holy Spirit forgave her sins… She was baptized the next day and then she became one of the best evangelists in our church, started carrying around her Bible telling all of her friends about Jesus and she started dating boys.”

3. “Almighty God, please bless Lowes Home Improvement stores for their wise decision to stop advertising for the TV show All-American Muslim, which is nothing but Islamic propaganda designed to whitewash the fact that practitioners of militant Islam not only slaughtered over 3000 American civilians, but routinely kill millions of Christians worldwide.”

4. “Sen. Franken recently released a video in which he blames the high rate of suicide among homosexual teens on school bullying, by abusing these sad tragedies as his own propaganda tool. By spreading even more lies to more teens, Franken is ultimately causing more suicides. Teen suicide is tragic enough without Senator Franken recruiting more kids into homosexuality, which causes depression, self-hatred, self-rejection and self-murder.”

5. “Sexual harrassment [sic] is banned in the military, unless you’re a homosexual abusing a Christian, then it’s openly encouraged.”

6. “Federal bureaucrats will enforce Obamacare to exterminate the elderly, systematically. We must take a stand.”

7. “Picture this: four NFL players coming out as gay, and then this whole youth movement of coaches recruiting children into the homosexual lifestyle and punishing Christians because they voice an opposition to that sort of thing in the locker room… that is a demonic use of the sporting industry.”

8. “Is bestiality now a perceived sexual orientation? Well since it’s not defined in the ENDA bill, yes it is!”

9. “An atheist chaplain would be the perfect vehicle for convincing wounded warriors that they should end their lives because there’s nothing in the future and there’s nothing now, so why not just save money and kill themselves.”

10. “In other words, it doesn’t matter what your skin color is, it matters what’s inside of your heart. And if your heart is full of corruption or sin or immorality — in this case, homosexuality — then you should be discriminated against.” (There are more of these over at Think Progress.)

Holy cow this guy makes Ted Cruz and Louie Gohmert seem rational.

What the hell Colorado? Did nobody check this guy's biography, or do some Coloradans like their wing nutty politicians with extra nuts?

I swear if we do not do something to keep these superstitious idiots out of office, our country is doomed.

I mean what's next, a President who bases his decisions on advice from an Astrologer?

Oh wait.......

So he's stupid and believes in Sky Fairy Squared. 46% of America is just as stupid as him. We're surrounded by idiots. Sometimes I feel like they are sucking all the air out of the room, but then I remember that they will waste their one opportunity at consciousness being a completely unaware of how things really work, and then I smile.

Do "Mediums" come in all sizes? I watched the Long Island Median a few times, and she sure looks undershort for her weight. I forgot what a snooty bitch Red Nan could be, but imagine if the present first lady invited mediums and Psychics in the people's house? All hell would break loose!

Me thinks he doth protest too much. Is that guy gay or what? The hands are a dead give away. Hope Coloradans get all that they voted for.

Not our state. Just a pocket of nutbags living in Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, this psycho dirt bag now works for the entire state.

Now, the fact that Corey Gardner got the most votes and is heading to the US Senate, that's something I'm embarrassed about.

    They are both disturbing, however.

An exorcism without the Archangel Michael? I don't think so.

And a big hand for you G for letting me post on your blog.

Dr...."Chaps"? And he's anti-LGBT? Hmmm...can't wait for the closet to swing wide open and the photos to fall out!

And yes, a good hunk of the American people are three miles beyond stupid, clinically insane, or both. But the GOP knows their demographic.

This is my parents' district. They live in eastern Colorado Springs, in an upper-middle-class cookie-cutter subdivision. Most of their neighbors are current or retired military. Last Christmas, a 14-year-old girl on their street was fatally shot by her stepfather--she was sneaking back in at 6 a.m. and he thought she was a burglar. The community viewed the incident as a “tragic mistake”; anyone who suggested that maybe a combat vet with possible PTSD shouldn’t have weapons at home, or that there should be legal consequences for shooting first and asking questions later, was shouted down. Comments online were appallingly aimed at blaming the girl--stepdad was just trying to protect his family. If she hadn’t been doing what she wasn’t supposed to be doing, she would still be alive, and now he has to live with the emotional consequences of taking her life.

Their Congressional rep is Doug Lamborn, the baby who boycotted Obama’s state of the union speech a few years ago in protest. He is on the veteran’s affairs committee in a district consisting largely of veterans, he attends like 40% of the meetings, and he still gets reelected. In 2012, he ran against several people far more conservative than he. This time around, he at least had a Democratic challenger, Irv Halter, a retired five-star general who focused on veterans affairs and (rightly) made much of Lamborn’s refusal to debate. Lamborn still won almost 60-40.

A few months ago I saw a Gordon Klingenschmitt sign on my parents’ street. I said, “THAT nutcase again?” I told my mom about some of his craziness. (At this point, I think if I say someone is a raging lunatic who should never be allowed in public office, my dad will automatically vote for that person.) My mom gave me her stock response when she doesn’t want to listen to what I’m saying: “Well, I don’t know any of that. It’s just what you say. How do I know your research accurate? It must be nice to have all this spare time to worry about this stuff.” I’m SURE when it came time to vote, she looked at the “R” by Klingenschmitt’s name and checked the little box.

So yeah. That’s whose district this lunatic represents.

6:14 again. Also worth noting: I grew up hearing stuff like those Klingenschmitt quotes all the time. We were taught that imprecatory prayers (praying for the destruction of your enemy) were acceptable. When I was in high school in the early 90s, there was some kind of demonstration downtown to do with gay rights. Our church advised that only men go because it could get too dangerous for women and children; the pastor said the gays might be spitting at people, trying to get their saliva in your eyes to give you AIDS. I spent the entire night of that meeting terrified, convinced there would be violence and my dad (who had gone) would come home with AIDS. I was on my knees for hours praying through the book of Psalms against the evil that was gay rights.

If you have grown up in an asylum, insanity is "normal."

Someday I'm going to write a memoir about this shit.

Actually, we need an exorcist. He's been praying at the wrong building, is all. Satan has just taken a majority of the US Senate.

have you ever heard of Talk2action or Bruce Wilson? He has a forum for walkaways and People who've been through what you have been. And YES you should write a memoir b/c people need to see the krazyness.
These people ARE actually "Wired differently"
And a book would be healing for you and help others also...
      Good luck!

I am old enough to remember this and it was shocking. The IranContra period was equally so. It was a very scary time to be young and know there was no rational behavior and critical thinking skills happening in the WH during the Reagan years.

I blame Ronnie Regan for closing the mental institutions and John McCain choosing a mentally ill person for VP, now all the nut cases think they are qualified for public office and unfortunately some of them are winning.

    ***
Imprecatory prayers is BLACK WITCHCRAFT, Satanic what not bad juju.
They will twist anything around to make it "ok" in the "eyes of the lord"
    and judge others.
    Holy shit.
Well the good thing is universal law, you receive what you put out x three....aka as Karma.
    These people are truly evil.....
Real witches Shamans, etc and people hooked into the universal consciousness instinctively know this and try to help others, and do good, without having y book, person telling them this. They know their purpose is to truly serve others and help, to do good.
This guy above is evil. They are legion, indeed!

You are absolutely right, and it needs to come in the form of self-realization that he's fighting his gay desires. Until then he will continue to rage against the world in general and homosexuals in particular.

I live in Colorado (Denver), did not vote for Cory (what personhood bill?) Gardner, and hoped Gordon Klingenschmitt would not win. It was a slim hope as he hails from Focus on the Family country.

Gryphen, you said it best - 2016 can not come soon enough.
