However in my defense I would like to point out that when you hear Professor Tyson speak it immediately dissuades you from believing that he is intellectually impaired in any way.
Yet when you hear Sarah Palin speak people instead think, "That screen capture really failed to fully grasp the stupidity of this woman."

DeleteThat's exactly it: if the pic accurately reflects the level of derp that can be generally expected to spew from the subject pictured, then you really can't complain. Making a derpish image of Tyson is embarrassing because it so totally is not an accurate reflection of who he is and what he openly represents.

DeleteThe thing is that most people don't habitually make strange faces. Sure, you could take a screenshot of Tyson, or Eisenhower, or Geraldine Ferraro, and you might get one where their mouth is open or they're blinking....but Sarah's schtick is to make funny faces to emphasize her anger, sincerity, insanity, so the opportunity to take a bad screenshot is increased exponentially.

I'm grateful that every time Their $arah speaks in public, she manages to humiliate and expose the true depth of her prejudice, hatred, contempt, and world class ignorance.

I'm grateful that we still have enough rational people in Congress to block most of the insanity that the Cruz/Palin factor want to get made into law.
The news recently has featured articles on how there are twice as many athiests now than there were 10 years ago in rill 'Murica.
Ok, so now time to get the house cleaned, and begin cooking for the big day with family & friends.
Fortunately, we don't have any rabid right wing wolverines showing up at our gathering tomorrow, and I'm grateful for that too.

While these pix are great for 8x10s, wallet size and holiday cards, you left out my favorite--the one that makes her look like Hans, the Toaster Strudel Boy on acid. But that one is probably more suitable for Halloween, haunted hayrides or the hallucinations one has after too much straight-up tequila.

Hey, it's your blog, so it's your screenshot choice. I think your screenshot selection is completely appropriate. After all, it's simply a visual representation of Sarah Palin's own words.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's problem is that when she talks, her facial expression is a mixture of outrage, comedy, and exaggerated reaction to what she just said. Her head moves around, her eyes dart around, and she doesn't seem to be able to control her own movements. Or, she is performing for her low-informaiton fans by rolling her eyes and doing comedy schtick. Therefore, it is hard to capture a moment where Sarah Palin does not look goofy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even mentioned her voice, which runs up and down and all over the place. For someone who once had the top political coaches dressing and grooming her for the 2008 election, Sarah hasn't learned anything from the experience. I doubt that she watches her own videos, or maybe that is the effect that she wants to put on display. Sarah makes it hard to believe that she took any classes in Journalism when she speaks and writes in those long, run-on sentences (best described as word salad). The professionals who regularly appear on TV don't move around as much as Sarah, and they don't make such weird facial movements. (Well, Michelle Malkin does, she makes herself look angry all the time).
Sarah does not have very much going for her other than her looks, and now, her looks are fading. She knows that her weird style of talking attracts attention, and that is exactly what Sarah wants-- attention. Whether she does it on purpose or by accident, Sarah's life blood is provided by the spotlight. If someone tells her not to respond or say something, count on Sarah to launch another Sarah-as-victim, Blood Libel video. She can't help it. She really wants to be noticed.

ReplyDeleteIn the spirit of fairness, I once watched a video featuring miss sarah and intended to freeze the frame frequently to see how often she looked normal. Well, turned out that almost every "freeze" caught her in a tortured or unflattering expression.
ReplyDeleteI can't listen to any of Palin's videos - hurts my ears and my brain if I do. I generally play the videos with no sound and randomly pause it to see the faces Palin makes. Gryphen shows great restraint in the pics he does post. Try it yourself, you'll see what I mean
