North Korea claims they had nothing to do with Sony hack. Offer to participate in joint investigation.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

North Korea said U.S. accusations that it was involved in a cyberattack on Sony Pictures were "groundless slander" and that it was wanted a joint investigation into the incident with the United States.

An unnamed spokesman of the North's foreign ministry said there would be "grave consequences" if Washington refused to agree to the joint probe and continued to accuse Pyongyang, the official KCNA news agency reported on Saturday.

On Friday, President Barack Obama blamed North Korea for the devastating cyberattack, which led to the Hollywood studio canceling "The Interview," a comedy on the fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

In its first substantive response to the accusation, the isolated North Korea said it could prove it had nothing to do with the massive hacking attack.

"We propose to conduct a joint investigation with the U.S. in response to groundless slander being perpetrated by the U.S. by mobilizing public opinion," the North Korean spokesman said.

"If the U.S. refuses to accept our proposal for a joint investigation and continues to talk about some kind of response by dragging us into the case, it must remember there will be grave consequences," the spokesman said.

Just a suggestion, but if you want to convince America you were not involved in a cyber terrorist attack you might want to avoid making any further threats.

Okay well now I don't know WHAT to think.

I mean it does not seem likely that the President would go on national television accusing this country of being behind the hack if he were not 100% sure of that. However this response from North Korea is completely unprecedented.

You know the more I think about this story the more I imagine Seth Rogen and James Franco high as shit sitting in a room several years ago saying "Let's make a movie that will attract all kinds of bad attention from a country that hates us and see how that goes."

One of the things to keep in mind is that in this day and age something like this was always going to happen at some point. In a way Rogen and Franco were simply in the right place at the right time.

How about this scenario: The NSA just gets exposed for all its nefarious spy craft on average citizens. So now we "need" more cybersecurity to keep these evil governments from f~cking with our entertainment industry.

    1. Is the "Sony Hack" a false flag hack by the US to pass more CISPA type legislation?

CISPA stands for Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act

What does it do? CISPA would allow for voluntary information sharing between private companies and the government in the event of a cyber attack. If the government detects a cyber attack that might take down Facebook or Google, for example, they could notify those companies. At the same time, Facebook or Google could inform the feds if they notice unusual activity on their networks that might suggest a cyber attack.

Considering the way they usually act, North Korea would've been bragging about their hacking prowess if they'd done it. Last week on the Daily SHow they had a woman on there who had infiltrated NK's top school and said that the computer techs didn't even know about the internet.

So, if you can believe NK has master hackers with no knowledge of the internet, then I dunno what to tell ya.

You don't know what to believe, Gryph? Try this: substitute "Carl Rove" or "James O'Keefe" or "Sarah Palin" for "unnamed spokesman." Easy-peasy.

  5. G, I don't know why you doubt our President. Better yet, I don't know why you believe the lying, murderous dictator. Come on Now. Surprise, surprise.

the stupidass un already made threats to the USA before he started to lie about not having cyberattack us. he said he will do it again.

I say turn it up. Fuck him

he is a spoiled, crazy, dumbass, stupidass dwarf, bully that should be confronted.

Why shouldn't Gryphen doubt "our president"? This president, after all, is perfectly fine with the patriots in the NSA violating every American's privacy in exactly the same way that N. Korea -- or whoever -- violated Sony's. And who also LOVES the torturing Bush family, and protects the CIA folk-torturers unleashed by the Bush administration. So rather than question Gryphen's questioning of events, I suggest you be more consistent in questioning authority, regardless of whether it was a "D" or an "R" after its name, or what part of the world it is bloviating from.

    2. Where to begin. Number one President Obama inherited the mess from previous white gop presidents. It would take up his time and the white people will not change if he pursued US war criminals. This doesn't mean he condones their behavior.

I have to give him a pass on not bring up the bush administration on war crimes. bush ruin so much of our constitution while he played decider/dictator.

Dems warned gop/bush of the harsh consequences we are going to endure, for a longtime because white people gave bush a pass.

Look at the percentages of whites who think torture is all right. Look at it! It's ridiculous. Other nations are not sure if President Obama did reversed said programs it will stay reverse (back to way founding fathers stated.) Plus he needs congress to stop funding these programs and the votes to impeach. When has the gop given him votes. Get real.

Drones don't have the high casualties of war as a conventional war. What drones and sharp shooters shouldn't be used for is killing kids playing on a beach.

The USA lost major creds around the world thanks to white people, all gop and its offshoots.

I can tell you are some gop because you bring up NSA. When President Obama heard about it he was right on it. They found no gop crooked groups were denied licenses. So come again. Hell Google, FB, social media has more shit on you than the government.

Yeah that would be great for the first African-American President impeaching bush assholes. Not to worry their time will come.

President Obama isn't protecting the bush administration. He isn't touching it because white people broke it and it's up to white people to fix it. Hopefully President Clinton will do this.

Don't suggest shit to me. I'm critical to the party that causes the most shit which is the traitorous gop. Dems like the ones who didn't use President Obama's achievements during the last election or the ones who ran away from all the good he has done gets a kick from me, anonymous.

So I SUGGEST to you, read, comprehend and stop protecting the gop and all their lies, obstruction, ridiculous talking points and their blatant racism, sexism and homophobia.

Also get a nik and stop being such a pussy.

Really? I mean really? You just said that President Obama wasn't going to try to fix the Bush Administration messes "...because white people broke it and it's up to white people to fix it. Hopefully President Clinton will do this"

Seriously? I remember a few people of color that had their hands in the messes caused by the Bush Administration. Condi Rice? Colin Powell? Can President Obama go after them since they're black?

I guess President Obama can "break" any damn thing he wants this last year and a half and by your reasoning since the next POTUS will most likely be white we'll have to wait until the next black POTUS to "fix" his mistakes.

I doubt President Obama would accuse N. Korea of hacking if it weren't true given it could cause an international incident. Of course their spokesperson is going to deny it.

On the other hand, Sarah Palin told us N. Korea is our allied and President Obama is always wrong.

Sarah Palin didn't even know North and South Korea was two different countries. So by her also thinking North Korea is our ally is not a surprise to anyone.

On the other hand, the reviews of the movie by the critics who already saw it were pretty bad. Sony also released an updated version of "Annie" which is not getting any praise, either. Just a thought.

I saw a promo for "Annie" the other day and they call her a "foster child". WTF, the original cartoon was called "Little Orphan Annie", she's an orphan, so what, is the word "orphan" not politically correct these days? It's the basic premise of the story. My parents took me to the Broadway musical back in the 80's and yep, she was still an orphan, not a "foster child".

      Political correctness gone wild?

3:50, you truly sound like you need to have your head examined. Did it honestly not occur to you that if the current movie adaptation changed the color of Annie's skin, they might make other changes too? I think your easily influenced paranoia about "political correctness" is what has gone wild. I suggest you find something that is less totally inconsequential to get worked up over than whether a fictional character is deemed an orphan or a foster child. Jesus fucking Christ.

    3. 3:50 is correct but I don't think it has anything to do with being PC.

They are just pushing a stereotype that African-American kids are put in foster care more than there are orphans.

Foster Care has the connotation of poor or bad parental care while being an orphan doesn't.

Sony knowingly enabled Rogen and Franco to wave a great big red flag in front of a very paranoid bull. Seriously WTF did they THINK was going to happen? Goddamn megalomaniac fucking dumbasses, now reaping what they're sowing and dragging the whole U.S. government into it.

YES! YES! YES! That is EXACTLY what I have been saying. Enough of this arrogant American bullshit.

Sony should never have produced this movie. WTF, indeed.

Sometimes it's really embarassing to be American and to watch the corporatocracy we live in and how they think they can get away with murder. Well, it's a way smaller world than it used to be, and they way overestimated their creative license.

It's just common sense not to wave a big red flag in front of a bull. And that is exactly what they did. And they're getting gored for it.

Really? I mean it's not likely the President would blame the Benghazi Embassy attack on an anti Muslim film unless he was 100% sure of it, right?

And surely he wouldn't say we can keep our health plans and our Dr.s to drum up support for the Affordable Care Act unless he was 100& sure, right?
