Sporting a tiara in a photo posted Wednesday, President Barack Obama seems to have broken his own rule of “you don’t put stuff on your head if you’re president.”
But that’s the power of the Girl Scouts.
White House photographer Pete Souza shared a photo on Instagram on Wednesday of the president donning a tiara with a group of Girl Scouts from the White House Science Fair earlier this year in May. In the caption, Souza wrote the girls from Tulsa “convinced” Obama to join in on the fun.
Yeah let me tell you as the father of a daughter of my own, little girls can talk dads into doing ANYTHING.
I myself have attended more than one tea party where the only other attendees were my daughter and her stuffed animal collection. (Sat in chairs so tiny that my knees were up my nose the entire time.)

And let's hope he spends the rest of his presidency not giving a f**k. (You know about conservative opinions, not the American people.)P.S. Don't bother pointing out the difference between tiaras and crowns, like I said I have a daughter.
I just thought the word "crown" made a better headline.
I'm a huge fan of Souza's chronicling this President's time in office. I agree "crown" would have sent them over the edge, but I suspect it's the popularity of the princess in "Frozen" and Kate, the real princess that made him wear the tiara. He's at his best with kids, so the rest of his time in office sounds like he'll have a blast.

ReplyDeleteMaybe it's a holiday present but the video of Palin baking cookies with her friend Juanita and Juanita's son, Alex, seems to be available as open streaming at the SPC. Oddly, Palin talks about the recipe calling for more brown sugar than white sugar, and calls for *good, old whole milk.* But, there's a recipe text below that calls for 1 cup brown sugar and 1 and 1/2 cups white sugar. And, no milk is listed as an ingredient. Later, the cookies come out of the oven and everyone goes outdoors to put the cookies in *the walk-in freezer*. But, the recipe instructs to let the cookies cool on the counter. Apparently the point is to show how dark and cold Alaska is in December. (But this is a record warm December for Alaska.) Related to nothing baking-wise, Palin then points out some notes from people on a wall of the kitchen, says she isn't star-struck, but mentions that the notes are from famous people.

DeleteI had to watch, I'm that sick. I snipped video pictures of those cookies as they needed "another minute or so" -- huge, puffy, scrunched-together, four-across cookies. Then they were flat when taken outside to cool off. A bear must have eaten a bunch, because there were only three across, none puffing into each other anymore when they were brought back inside. How can she live with herself when she lies so much? About a bunch of NOTHING!!!!! She's of course deeply into quality. How'd you like the part about none of that cheap oatmeal? Yes, the store brand, but NOT the minute kind!!!! God forbid!!!

ReplyDeleteI saw a similar reference elsewhere regarding this picture; that he no longer cares what anyone thinks since the midterms.
However, this picture was taken in May. And the Cuba deal had been in the works for over a year.
So much of what people say he is doing because he is a lame duck, or no longer cares what people think since the mid-terms, etc., he has actually been working on for quite some time. He is able to see long-term better than most. He does not think or work in sound bites.
I just get frustrated when I see how much our President is underestimated even by his supporters.
I agree. And I think he DOES give a fuck; he's human, he has professional and personal limitations, but ultimately he does care about these girls, and you and me and Trayvon Martin and the Newtown parents and the nurse who'd contracted Ebola-- that's why he's he couldn't be happier in that photo.
DeleteCan you imagine Gingrich or O'Reilly or Mitch McConnell agreeing to this picture, or even being in that room in the first place? I mean, Lindsay Graham would wrestle an alligator to get his hands on that tiara, but would even a simpleton like Bush Jr empathetically grasp the importance of such organizations in these kids' lives? They'd never get it, they'd never care.
What if that were an actual crown on 'King Tyrant Obama's' head? Yeah, what a nightmare...

George W Bush had his photo taken holding hands with a Saudi Prince!! Obviously, our President is a "Man of the People" He made these young ladies FEEL like royalty. Kids really seem drawn to both him and Michelle. They KNOW phonies when they see them.
