Mitt Romney is NOT running for President!

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

Mitt Romney will tell donors Friday morning that he will not run for president in 2016, contrary an earlier report published in The Daily Beast. "After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I've decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee," Romney said according to prepared remarks delivered on the call.

You know I never really took Romney seriously anyway, but this is still going to send shock waves through the Republican party.

Now look I know most of you are going to hate this but in my opinion the 2016 race is already decided.

And these are your candidates.

And in my opinion these are going to HAVE to be the choices made by both parties.

Let's face it Jeb is going to crush all of his challengers in the run up to his nomination, and if it is going to be Jeb the ONLY Democrat who has a shot at taking him out is Hillary.

And on the flip side there are really no serious Democratic challengers to Hillary (Sorry Bernie.) so she is certain to get the nomination, and the ONLY Republican that has a chance against her is Jebbie.

Essentially this is going to be a clash of the titans, and each party is going to make damn sure they have their best titan in the game.

As a political blogger I find this quite exciting, but as an American citizen I have to confess that I am more than a little worried.

I loved Bill, voted for Obama twice, but am beginning to worry that Hillary may be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Watching Bill Clinton and George Bush Senior holding hands was a first troubling clue. Maybe she won't run...

Anonymous 10:18, I understand having concerns about Hillary, but in regard to former presidents, I myself would not be concerned. I have noticed before that presidents who sincerely loathe each other when one of them is in office seem to have a very different relationship when out of office.

Even if they still cordially dislike everything other ones stand for, I think it is inevitable for a bond to develop among members of a club that is not likely to ever exceed about 5 people as members.

Out of 7 billion people on the planet, if there are only 4 (as is the case now) who have shared the experience of serving as president of the United States and all that entails, I think it is understandable that they can see beyond their differences to what they have in common, even if it is only the presidency.

I agree with you. The Clintons are too close the the Bush family, and this has been troubling to me for awhile. I don't want to see any more Bushs or Clintons in the White House, American needs new blood.
Surely there are many more qualified people to run on the Democratic ticket.
I wish the country would not narrow the pool down to these 2 families, the Clintons and the Bushs. This is absurd.

  7. Gryphen, could you not literally not be more not naive?????

Do you REALLY not believe Mittens isnt not running??? Wow!

Here, let me explain a few things to you and the last few remaining libtard deadenders still visiting your defunct blog that nobody reads.

Anyone with the SLIGHTEST knowledge of politics knows that Mittens has already scheduled a press conference for NEXT week at exactly the same time as the press conference today.

And what would you guess will be the topic of next week's presser? That he IS running? WRONG!!!!! Next week's event will simply reiterate his decision not to run but he'll slip in the fact that he has some awesome severe conservative ideas that could be helpful to our country as it rebuilds from the total destruction - plus the recovering economy, soaring stockmarket, improving budget deficit, diminished war footing and growing numbers of citizens covered by health insurance - wrought by the grossly incompetent black man in the White House.

And the following week there will be another press conference to announce that he still isnt running for presdient plus more awesome soundbites that reflect the burning need this country has for a Mittens presidency.

Week after week after week. Consistent, resolute, upbeat: "I'm not running but I'd be an awesome prez if I did!" Slowly, slowly, slowly the message starts to sink in to the American people.... "Hey! That awkward rich guy isn't running for president! YAY!!!" Month after month.... Year after year.... Slowly.... slowly.... slowly.... People start to forget his countless campaign gaffes... His "deer in the headlights" handsome visage. His car elevator. His hatred for the 47%. His wife and her prescription strength dancing horse.

Decade by decade.... Slowly support builds... First one or two people say "meh... Maybe he isn't as douchey as he seems to be..." The next week two more climb aboard the Mitty train. Every week a press conference.... "I'm not running for president, but I'm rich and handsome enough to be an adequate one if you want me!"

Even you, Gryphen, if that's even our real name, are smart enough to know that eventually he'll wear us down. I can't say when. Maybe 2026? Maybe 2032? Hell, I don't know! Maybe 2051! 2076???? Who knows? But the point is, IT IS WRITTEN ON THE INVISIBLE GOLDEN TABLETS that one day he will be President.

And that's good enough for me! It should be good enough for you.

    RUN, MITTENS, RUN!!!!!

After years of alternately worshiping and defending her from all comers while gleefully echoing her falsehoods about the Obama administration (death panels!), lots of conservatives -- and especially conservative pundits -- decided, "Enough!" and collectively tossed her overboard.

The big story to come out of Romney’s decision is how many media outlets got it wrong. Both The Daily Beast and Bloomberg reported that Romney was definitely running. The Daily Beast took down their original story and replaced with a single paragraph about Romney not running, but the URL to the current story still states that Romney is running (http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2015/01/30/mitt-romney-is-running-for-president.html). Bloomberg also quickly changed their story.

It is a total back to the future moment as the Republican establishment appears to have selected Jeb Bush as their candidate, and the media is still rushing to get it first instead of getting right.

You are giving Jeb Bush way too much credit. If you did some reading, you would discover that many people believe Jeb Bush is a pretty weak candidate. Jeb Bush has all of the same problems Mitt Romney has, maybe worse. The republican base hates Jeb Bush, and he also has a lot of shady financial dealings, like Mitt Romney. Plus, Jeb is a BUSH! We're 0-2 with Bushes. The Bush name is still toxic.

Romneycare plagued Mitt Romney, and Common Core will plague Jeb Bush. To conservatives, Common Core is Jeb Bush's "Obamacare."

Jeb Bush is also not as smart as some people think. He's just "smarter" than his brother, George.

Also, Jeb Bush is starting off in a much weaker position than Dubya did. The republican party has changed a lot since his brother George ran for president. The republican party is much more conservative, now. When Dubya ran for president, the republican base loved him. But now, the republican base hates Jeb.

There is no enthusiasm for Jeb Bush among the republican base. That's part of the reason Mitt Romney lost. But, there is a lot of enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton in the republican party. The candidate with the most fired-up base always wins, and right now that is Hillary Clinton.

IF President Obama's job approval-rating continues to rebound, and there are no major disasters in the next 2 years, it will be hard for republicans to win no matter who they nominate.

It's all about the psyche of the American public. I think the reason Jeb Bush is certain to become the nominee is because Republican voters have had enough with the Tea Party. They've given them their voice, and some power and they've failed big-time. In fact, the Kochs and other billionnaire players never once had any intention of giving the party (GOP) over to the Tea Party. That was all theatrics.

I think that Koch meeting in California was an attempt to 'anoint' Marc Rubio, but for Vice-President. However, it's not usual for a VP and President to both serve from the same State, or is it?

It is illegal. That is why Cheney who lived in Texas like W claimed to be from Wyoming or wherever he made up.

Is Mitt planning to return any donations he's received?

And here we go again. The return of the rogue and now she's got her mini me sidekick daughter on board for the sequel, blogs and thongs in hand. Politics by innuendo and blackmail, the Palin trademark since the mayor's race in Wasilla. The torch is being passed to a new generation and this torch comes with a nifty white suit and hood.

Hopefully, the sequel will find a smaller audience and the whole frozen tart franchise will fade into the cult phenomenon it should be. Or perhaps Bristol is attempting to be the new LePen or Paul, young scion of the right wing .... a bit refined, but still as mean.

    God help us all.

Bristol is even dumber and worse-spoken than her mother. She knows and cares even less about the world or about politics than her mother. If the torch is passed to her, Bristol will probably set her own hair on fire by mistake.

Bristol won't go anywhere - would never win a race in Alaska, etc. Her mother used and abused her - put everything negative about the kid/young adult out to the public - Bristol would have her own baggage to fight as well as that of her mother (Sarah Palin).

She'd be a 'flunkee' because she and her mother are both idiots with little education. Plus, they are white trash from the small town of Wasilla, AK. and Sarah (the horrible parent) has taught Bristol to lie, cheat, drink, do drugs (Anchorage Brawl - proven fact!) and to follow in Sarah's footsteps!

Bristol is a disaster waiting to happen - just like her mother.

I would like to suggest that she further her education and get as far away from her horrible parents - Todd and Sarah Palin -as possible! She should relocate to another state or country - change her name (no one would recognize her because of all the facial surgery she has undergone!) and build her own life -devoid of her nasty mudder!

When they were teenagers, Jeb Bush's kids were far more delinquent than Sarah's brood, or "the twins"....

Democratic Party: "We can't run anything but the perfect candidate. Biden's got flaws, Warrens's got flaws, Sanders' got flaws, we can't run them, they're not perfect. Hillary's is the closest thing we got. She'd got congressional experience, she's got impeccable foreign policy experience, but she's still not perfect!"

Republican Party: All of you run, who cares? We don't care if you have flaws. We'll just blame your shortcomings on the media.

I predict the republican ticket will be Bush/Romney. Mittens is not running for pres, but he didn't say no to VP yet.

I don't think Lady Ann could handle being Second Lady. I think it's all or nothing with her.

I also think Jebbie needs a RWNJ as VP to solidify the base. I think Bush/Rmoney would blow what's left of their tiny minds.

    Mitt Romney's Terrible Timing

For the third election cycle in a row, the former Massachusetts governor was in the right place at the wrong time.

Huffpo has a story today that Jeb was a bully and pot smoker in school. The bully part doesn't surprise me and maybe he will push for national legalization of pot.
