While in England Chris Chirstie cancels several media appearances after saying stupid things about vaccinations.

Courtesy of Reuters:

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a possible 2016 presidential contender, cancelled three scheduled media appearances in the UK on Tuesday, amid a controversy over his comments on measles vaccinations.

The Republican governor said on Monday parents needed some choice on whether to vaccinate their children, drawing criticism from political opponents who said such a policy could threaten public health.

His comments came a few hours after President Barack Obama said parents should have their children vaccinated, saying the science was "pretty indisputable."

Christie cancelled two question-and-answer sessions and a press statement he was due to make after meeting UK finance minister George Osborne.

"We just decided we're not going to have availability today," said Maria Comella, Christie's head of communications, after the last scheduled appearance was cancelled.

Oh yeah they just "decided" suddenly to have no press availability when the sole reason Christie was in the UK was to talk to the press and get his name out there before launching his bid for the GOP presidential nomination.

Here is how he responded to one reporter who did not get the memo about Christie not taking questions and continued trying to do his job.
Yeah what part of "I said something embarrassing on foreign soil making Americans look like nitwits and now I'm trying to lay low do you not get?"

Okay so should we consider the fact that the Christie team recognized that the vaccination response was ignorant to be progress on behalf of Republicans?

Here let me answer my own question.

Nope.

Courtesy of TPM:

Yesterday, first Paul tried to get to the right (or perhaps just to the crazy) of Chris Christie by going further than Christie on Vaccine Choice. Then he came out a bit later in the day with his claim that vaccines can cause "profound mental disorders." Now it comes out that back in 2009 Paul told InfoWars channel 'Prison Planet TV' that mandatory vaccines could lead to "martial law".

Well okay then, it looks like the whole GOP clown car is now filled mostly with anti-vaxxers.

Good to know.

C'mon Gryphen, I hate the GOP with all my being, but that is NOT an accurate statement at all. There's a whole slew of GOPers that have come out in favor of vaccines, so please correct your post. Fox New's O'Reilly, Kelly the blond point blank said get vaccinated. So did Cruz, McConnell, Pence, Carson, Walker, Rubio, Jindal, Boehner...and a whole lot more, so if we're gonna go after the GOP Clown car, let's get it right and not promote misinformation.

From what I can tell Rand has now backpedaled, in fact posting a pic of himself being vaccinated...Christy is in damage control.

So Rand Paul, in an effort to turn the tide of negative publicity for his pandering to anti-vaccination conspiracy theorists, ran out and got a booster vaccination to show that he’s not anti-vaccination, completely with brooding about how he’s such a victim of “misreporting” known as “quoting him directly”.

Burnett is not the only prominent female cable news host to speak out in defense of vaccines as a measles outbreak spreads across the U.S. Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, who herself is a mother of three young children, told viewers Monday night that she always vaccinates her kids as their doctor prescribes.

“This is going to be a big issue for politicians going forward, because it’s about Big Brother,” Kelly said. “But on the other hand, some things do require some involvement of Big Brother.”

Rand Paul thinks parents OWN their children.

    Gov. Bobby Jindal (R., La.)

“I urge all parents to get their kids vaccinated. Vaccinations are required for children to attend public school and pre-K. Just about every private school requires vaccinations. Here in Louisiana, we actively encourage vaccinations and help low-income families vaccinate their children.

“I worked in health care for a long time. I have no reservations about whether or not it is a good idea and desirable for all children to be vaccinated. There is a lot of fear mongering out there on this. I think it is irresponsible for leaders to undermine the public’s confidence in vaccinations that have been tested and proven to protect public health. Science supports them and they keep our children safe from potentially deadly but preventable diseases. Personally, I would not send my kids to a school that did not require vaccinations. Vaccinations are important. I urge every parent to get them. Every one.”

    Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.)

“Absolutely, children should be fully vaccinated. There’s always going to be exceptions for children that are immune-suppressed, but those are small exceptions. Children as it is in many states are required to have a certain panel of vaccinations before they can attend school. And not only is that for their protection, it’s for the protection of other children. If you think about the childhood illnesses that once permanently debilitated people like my grandfather, who contracted childhood polio — and you think today that measles, rubella, polio have been eradicated from the U.S. and much of the world — why would we go backwards?”

The anti-vaccination movement is not a distinctly partisan crusade. Anti-vaxxers can line up anywhere along the political spectrum from the far right to the radical left and all points in between. However, a 2014 Pew Research poll found that Democrats were more likely to support requiring children to be vaccinated than either Independents or Republicans. A majority of Democrats, Independents and Republicans supported requiring vaccinations.

However, 34 percent of Republicans and 33 percent of Independents thought parents should be able to decide not to vaccinate their children. A much smaller percentage of Democrats (22 percent), felt the same way.

    OT again, sorry!

Interesting article about Prudhoe Bay oil production in Exploration & Production, an energy industry magazine.

Here's what it says on page 4 of the article:

"While Alaska has a lot of oil production, higher taxes have led to less production. Former governor Sarah Palin helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits, resulting in reduced production. Since 2006, oil production taxes in Alaska have risen 350% based on an oil price of $80/bbl and even more at $90, the Resource Development Council for Alaska reported on its website. ANS production has since fallen from 716,000 bbl/d in 2008 to 590,000 bbl/d in fiscal year 2012.

In May 2013, then-Governor Sean Parnell signed the controversial More Alaska Production Act (MAPA) into law and said it would help reverse declining production in Alaska, which had led to lower state revenue. Alaska’s government operating budget is more than 90% dependent on ANS oil production, and “over a third of [Alaska’s] entire economy would collapse without ANS oil,” said Dave Harbour, former chairman of the Regulatory Commission of Alaska, in an article on the Northern Gas Pipelines website"

    http://www.epmag.com/prudhoe-bay-once-lifetime-discovery-779816#p=1

So much for "Drill, baby, drill" "conservative" "energy expert" Palin. Since 2006, oil taxes have increased 350% and production has fallen from 716k to 590k bbl/d.

She took a chunk of that oil tax money and re-distributed it in the form of big, windfall checks every year for every man, woman and child. I'm sure those big, fat, socialist oil checks bought her those high approval ratings her idiot supporters brag about. Didn't work out so well for the state economy though when prices and production dropped.

    1. Anonymous10:42 AM

Anon@9:27. Just wanted to point out that the "big windfall" checks, while yes given to AK residents who must meet eligibilty criteria, are not "big, fat, socialist oil checks." They are not always the same amount as the amount of the check is based on the performance of thePermament Fund Dividend, over a rolling 5 year period, on investments made by the fund's board. The fund was established many years ago to allow Alaskans to share in the oil profits, in a form of "owner state". The governor doesn't issue the checks - the dividend board oversees that, and the checks are issued by the state. And, you are right, oil production plays a huge part in the economy.

Some people put all of their faith and trust into allopathic medicine, meaning, doctors, Big Pharma, and going under the knife. That people say we have the greatest health care in the world is either nuts or ignorant.
There are many other types of medicines and healthcare used around the world that have been safer and more effective, some for centuries and even thousands of years. France has had many, many more measles cases over the last few years, yet they and fifty other countries use homeopathic care.
What doctors call alternative medicine, such as ayurvedic is mainstream in India and that part of the world. Naturopath medicine, Korean hybrid, Japanese medical practices, Chinese medicine,, etc.
All of these countries have measles outbreaks but they don't go into mass hysteria when it happens. They simply deal with it.
As to the question if vaccines are safe and would the makers put profit before safety, one only needs to look back at the Anthrax vaccine scandal the government wanted to mandate. Interestingly, the guy who mandated this, himself rerfused to be vaccinated. His name was Clinton

Rand Paul Linked to Doctors’ Group That Challenges Vaccinations

Back in 2009, when Rand Paul was pursuing his long-shot bid to win Kentucky’s Republican Senate primary, he spoke to a small physicians’ association that has publicized discredited medical theories, including possible links between vaccines and autism and between abortion and an increased risk of breast cancer.

At the time, Mr. Paul, an ophthalmologist, was no stranger to the group, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. He boasted at its annual meeting that he had been a member for more than two decades and that he relied on its research, statistics and views about the role of government in medicine.

  25. This will not make me popular, but as usual, don't care. I have to agree with Chris Christie, but I know things about vaccines that people who get their information from propagandized MSM and corrupt government agencies don't know. Also doctors just do whatever the drug companies tell them to do and many (connected to certain health care systems or who want bonuses) are required to meet quotas with regard to vaccines. Most don't do their own research. Some people have immune system defects, some have chronic infections that will bloom with the stimulation of certain types of cells those viruses dwell in and vaccines cause this. That blooming of viruses (herpes viruses usually) causes brain damage. I know as I am one of those people with right brain problems including massive visual-spatial processing deficits, that includes verbal aggressiveness, does this sound familiar, LOL. If they did testing to determine who needs to avoid the vaccines, allowed the MMR to be given as separate vaccines, stopped slamming kids with too many at one time and stopped the one size fits all mind set more parents would get their kids vaccinated. The reason they used Thimerosol in vaccines was to kill the fungus they were contaminated with, fungus in your body turns of certain components of the immune system allowing suppressed viruses or spirochetes to bloom. Fungus is not the only vaccine contaminant. I can't have vaccines, they make me really sick and that happened when I was a kid too. When I was a nurse I had to have them, then I crashed and could not work, then I was "counseled" for calling in sick. Anything that depresses or activates my immune system triggers CMV and other co-infections to bloom. ME/cfs and Chronic Lyme are Post Sepsis (per NIH) AIDS-like illnesses. This caused right brain damage that lead to learning disorders, cognitive problems and decades of suffering along with sensory sensitivities. Also decades of being misunderstood, demonized, denied appropriate health care, judged and slammed with injustice when I ended up with dementia (ME/cfs) and PTSD from workplace bullying in Nome, and continuing social disabilities due to all of that. So realize there is way more to this story than the negative propaganda about so called, "anti-vaxers". There is also massive info that the CDC is corrupt and lies, they covered up research about the MMR vaccine that clearly shows a large increase in autism in black boys< 36 months. But it shows increased autism in everyone. A whistleblower came forward. Merck is in trouble for knowingly selling a defective mumps component of the MMR for over a decade so they could dominate the market and make huge profits because that is all drug companies care about. As a DES Daughter and having ME/cfs I already knew the CDC was corrupt from decades of information. Scientists patent research and make money off of tests they design which do not work. The FDA is also corrupt, but the NIH is better, in fact some orgs will only work with the NIH refusing to have anything to do with the CDC. Most people know the FDA is essentially owned by Big Pharma. We have also seen how dysfunctional the CDC is recently. Corruption leads to incompetence.

Why does that photo of Christie look as if he is screaming at a waitress "I want my cheeseburger this big!"

"Christie cancelled two question-and-answer sessions and a press statement he was due to make . . ."

Geez that Christie is a chickensh*t wimp. Now who does he remind me of?

Wait. Wait. Oh I know. That Ol' Cadaver from Wasilly.

Both effortlessly act the belligerent bully, yet when they are called out, both turn tail and run away as fast as they can, scared out of their ugly hides.

    Yellow-bellies both of them!

stick to palin...cause you know nothing about vaccines....its indisputable that ALL VACCINES harm the person taking them..from links to autism...1 in 40...used to be 1 in 12000...to brain damage the science has spoken.

stop watching palin a while and educate your selves to the danger that vaccines are.

There is no link between autism and vaccines, no matter what you or any ex strippers have to say. You must be mentally ill to believe that.,

tj, Are you sure it isn't gmo corn that's causing the autism? How about Teflon? That could be causing autism. Beautiful over fertilized suburban lawns could be causing autism.
