Florida preacher brags about "male leadership" sign. "It's a man's world."

Courtesy of Raw Story:

During a March 29 sermon about leadership, which was recently highlighted by the Friendly Atheist blog and the Bad Preachers YouTube account, Pastor Bill Lytell of the Gospel Baptist Church told his congregation he was proud to have a “male leadership” sign outside the church because “this is a man’s world.”

Lytell said that after a 9-year-old boy found a gun in the church’s bathroom last month, he was happy that a local media outlet filmed the “male leadership” sign during its coverage of the incident.

“And that’s going to go out throughout the whole country. Do you know what we’d have had to pay to do something like that?” he remarked. “That was probably a hundred thousand dollar gift. I’m not going to thank the person that left the weapon, however.”

“Don’t you be ashamed you go to a church with male leadership,” Lytell said. “Every church that’s right with God oughta have a sign: ‘Male Leadership.’ Because that’s the only kind of leadership, both from Adam all the way to the last part of the Bible. It’s all been male. This is a man’s world!”

And that folks is why, according to the Fundamentalists, women cannot be expected to control their own reproductive organs.

After all, they're just womenfolk.

I hope that all of the women in the congregation have now left in search of a friendlier place of worship. But probably not.

As an eyewitness to similar misogynistic sermons, and from conversations with women who were raised in these places of worship, I can assure you that they didn't leave but rather were agreeing with this pastor, if not outright jumping and cheering.

So, all the wimpy MEN in the congregation go along with this train of thought? I would bet that at home, behind closed doors, his wife rules that roost. She just lets him spout this bull on Sundays, to pacify the backwards loon.

From the Mormon women I have talked to, this is EXACTLY how their homes are run. In fact their men are so terrified of women, they can't talk even to a gentile female without their wife being present. They get so tongue tied it isn't funny.

My Grandma would have said, "Is his name Louisville? I think I have a bat with his name on it."

Oh my. Isn't he superior to......absolutely nothing. I got your silly ass male leadership, everybody does. And it's getting mighty old. We all see how "male leadership" works, it doesn't.

"Ignorance is curable; stupidity isn't. This is just plain STUPID!

And as long as the women of the world ALLOW this trash to be imprinted into the minds of their daughters, it will continue.

    SICK!

People wonder how so many folks vote against their own best interests, or believe Obama was born in Kenya, or that gay people are going straight to hell, or that Obamacare is BAD, or that God really wants you to be rich, or that trickle-down economics really works. Well folks, here's a prime example of the answer --they heard it from their pastor in their church. We can blame it on Faux News (which only reaches about 1/100th of the population) or on right-wing blogs. But I guarantee you they won't necessarily believe any of it until/unless it comes out of their very own preacher's mouth.
And this is what the Christian religion has turned into......sad, isn't it?

"...this is what the Christian religion has turned into..."

Well, not really; it's always been that way but better hidden. In today's world things are much more transparent because there are fewer ignorant people, fortunately.

Maple---the Catholic church has always been this way and still IS...maybe they do make some slight concession to women, though, in that all their priests wear dresses??

Gryph, did you see this? Alaska Airlines won't let people with cancer fly, but women in their 8th month of pregnancy in active labor are apparently fair game: http://blog.sfgate.com/stew/2015/04/07/woman-with-cancer-kicked-off-flight-from-hawaii-to-san-jose/

I strongly suspect that the gun was planted to attract media attention.
“And that’s going to go out throughout the whole country. Do you know what we’d have had to pay to do something like that?” he remarked. “That was probably a hundred thousand dollar gift. I’m not going to thank the person that left the weapon, however.”

He has a "male leadership" symbol to help him deal with his very, very small penis.

No, it is not that big. You wish it were that big. In your dreams it is that big. But, in fact it is very itty bitty and makes you feel so inadequate that you try to compensate in other ways, little man.

What a fucktard. I'm guessing he has a very little penis if he has one at all.

I was flabbergasted yesterday when the dial on the radio spun for a minute to a station discussing Indiana's new "Freedom of Religion" law. First I have to tell you that because of the slant of this particular nationwide show, most of the callers were supporting the law and castigating "gaydom". What was amazing to me was the mental gymnastics these people were using to on one hand denigrate and condemn gays, but then deny they had any prejudice. These people were literally revelling in their own ignorance and hate. I mean they were giddy with righteousness. But they weren't prejudice, nosireebob!

One woman went on a rant for about 5 minutes, railing against gays in public, gays in private, blah blah blah, then at the end of her rant she says, I'm not prejudiced, I hate the sin but love the sinner, unconditionally....... No my dear, you definitely have conditions to the love that comes from your cold heart.

Another woman, evidently African American, from the gist of her argument, went on the rampage that gays don't need civil rights protections because their ancestors didn't go through slavery like hers did, or have to deal with cross burnings and the Ku Klux Klan. They weren't worthy of protection because they didn't have her background, basically. How dare they ask for civil rights protection?

And the last was the straw that broke the camel's back for me and I had to switch stations before my brain melted. This woman was all in favor of banning gays from businesses and from jobs over religious beliefs. (She was evidently a Catholic) She finished with something along these lines (I'm paraphrasing as best as I can)...... Don't worry about all the jobs that will be off limits to you (gays), The best job you can get is to become a priest, because (and I kid you not) God helps priests deal with their sexual urges. (My mind was blown) In other words, If you become a priest, God will help you control your filthy urges. And the host of the show was cheering this lady and her pet theory on.
