Bernie Sanders might be trailing Hillary Clinton, but he is kicking ass when compared to some GOP challengers.

Don't count me out.
The Washington Post has a couple of graphics that I found interesting.

Here is the first:

As you can see on this chart Bernie Sanders barely breaks the top ten.

However as you can also see NOBODY even comes close to overtaking Hillary at this point, so whether it be second, third, fourth, or even tenth place everybody is eating mouthfuls of Hillary's dust.

But when you compare the actual voters who support Sanders to the actual voters who support some of the other GOP presidential hopefuls our resident democratic socialist does much better than one might expect.

As you can see Sanders actually has more voter support than Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, John Kasich, and Rick Santorum combined.

Here is how the Washington Post explained this:

Sanders won't be the Democratic nominee. And neither Fiorina, Kasich nor Graham are likely to be the GOP nominee. Among Americans at large, though, Sanders has a lot more supporters than any number of the often-talked-about Republicans.

Which kind of tells me that if there were no Hillary Clinton in this race, or say Jeb Bush, that Bernie Sanders might not be quite the long shot that everybody seems  to assume he will be.

Speaking only for myself, I am contributing small amounts monthly to Sanders, but would not vote for Clinton.

Personally I want to see Bernie as President, but a Clinton/Bernie ticket would kick ass!

    1. I'd like to see a Clinton/Sanders ticket too. In this scenario, he'll stay on her ass and push her more left.
What I'd rather see is a Sanders/Clinton ticket!
I don't think Bernie is the long shot, some people seem to think he is. Do I need to remind people that Obama was a virtual unknown when he clobbered Clinton....
And to think, Bernie already was well known and has a base that's growing daily!

Yeah that idea of a VP pushing or infuencing an agenda of a president/president's team is a joke, doesn't happen. Partly because anyone who would cause those kinds of problems wouldn't be asked on the ticket to begin with.

Plus if Sanders has as much integrity as everyone seems to think he has- there is no way he would ever agree to be on Ms. corporate shill Hillary ticket.

  6. I will happily vote for the Democratic candidate in the general election. And I will never understand any human so careless about his/her life, the lives of others and the life of the planet to vote Republican or not vote.

But I'll caucus for Sanders and, at this point, anything is possible. It's a long primary season.

  11. I think some of this can be attributed to split votes.

The Democratic field only has Five announced candidates. At this point I doubt Biden will announce. Warren has already said repeatedly she is not running. Webb, Chafee and O'Malley will drop out very early. So it really is just Hillary and Sanders that are splitting the Democratic vote but not enough to help the GOP, no matter who they nominate.

On the Republican side you've got 14 clowns and counting.

No matter what straw man the GOP nominates, they really don't have a chance. Hillary will gain the majority of the Independents (and probably some Republicans as well) and those remaining Independents and the Republicans that can't stand whoever the GOP puts on the ticket will probably just not bother to vote.

Unless something catastrophic happens, we'll be swearing in our country's very first woman President and I am thrilled.

Unless something happens... like maybe Hillary comes out from whatever bunker she has been hiding out in and starts talking and has to answer media questions... and the polling numbers start dropping.

What is more important for you - having the first women president or having a president that is frank, honest and transparent? IMHO if all your looking for is a women president then Jill Stein would be a better choice.
