Hold the presses, Jeb Bush has a third and final answer on going into Iraq. (At least we think it's final.)

Courtesy of TPM:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Thursday offered yet another answer on the Iraq war saying that, given what he knows now, he would not have authorized an invasion of Iraq.

Those comments strongly contrast ones he made on Monday to Fox's Megyn Kelly when he said he would have authorized an invasion. A day later, he backtracked, saying he misheard the question and did not know what he would have done. On Wednesday, Bush said he refused to answer as it would be a disservice to American troops.

But at an event in Tempe, Arizona, on Thursday, Bush gave yet another answer.

"I would have not engaged. I would not have gone into Iraq," Bush said.

That's all that Talking Points Memo offered, but the Washington Post added this:

"That's not to say the world is safer (I think you meant "Isn't safer.") because Saddam Hussein is gone. It is significantly safer. (No, actually it's not.) That's not to say that there was a courageous effort to bring about a surge that created stability in Iraq. All of that is true. And that's not to say that the men and women that have served in uniform, and many others that went to Iraq to serve did so certainly honorably. But we've answered the question now."

So as you can see Jebbie is still trying to thread the needle here by not outright condemning his brother's choice to go to war, but also not suggesting that he would have made the exact same choice.

However considering that it took him three tries to verbalize an answer that does not put him in lockstep with his brother's terrible choices, I think it's pretty clear that the damage has been done.

And he was the "smart" one?
    Alrighty then.

OMG, this one's as inarticulate as his brother. I thought Jeb was supposed to be the "smart" one.You caught the first dunder-headed mistake, Gryphen, but there's also "that's not to say there WASN'T a courageous effort to bring about a surge..." and "...that's not to say that the men and women...DIDN'T serve...honorably..." What a bunch of gobbledygook. Almost as bad as Sarah Palin. It sure reveals his discomfort with this topic. That final sentence really means he's not going to talk about this again, ever! The entire family just needs to shut up and go away..

Jeb is the smart one in a very shallow gene pool. Old Battleaxe Barb was correct - enough Bush in the WH. This family has caused enough destruction to this country. They have increased their wealth many times over, at the expense of this country. Jeb even LOOKS dumb, he has a blank look in his eyes.

Right-Wing News Media (It's the only kind we get in NC) is saying that it won't be an issue because R's love war, and Hillary will win the nomination and Hillary voted for the war.

OTOH, why does it never occur to anyone that EVERYONE who voted for the invasion of Iraq can HONESTLY say that they were misled and lied to by the Bush administration?

Again I ask, was Barbra Bush an alcoholic during her pregnancies? Are she and GW siblings? There has to be an explanation!

I personally can't stand the pic of him that Gryph has posted earlier with his arm around Dubya, his dorky look, and Dubya looking like the sane one. Brothers, yes, so let 'em be that.

That being said, in keeping with your thoughts, that Dubya now paints to pacify his mind after what he did to this country, and the massive loss of innocent lives, I'm supposed to vote in another? It will be one cold day in hell.

    Yeah, he's hilariously pa-thetic!
So much for being the 'smart' one. He's probably real clever at gaming the system and working the crony network though.

  10. How many do overs does this guy think he gets. I've had several jobs both here and the UK. Never got a pass after being an ass. (sorry I couldn't resist but I'm sure you know what I mean). What an imbecile!

Jeb Bush: I am not my brother. I didn't think that questions about him would be on the test. I just hired his entire staff of advisers, and George will be my top Iraq adviser. I didn't think that there would be any hard questions on the test.

Jeb honestly thought the name would be enough to propel him into the WH. What a dumbass!! Just like his brother, W, he is clueless. When will the other brothers Neal and Marvin run? Jeb might as well pack up his tent and go home.

Maybe if little Jebbie shuts up, the GOP will let him onto the ticket in the VEEP spot. Bad as he is, he's slightly less incoherent than Sarah Palin.

Oh boy, if she's waiting until after the set up nuptials to announce, this is going to be one hell of a carnival ride. She almost has to; how many more excuses can she give? C'mon out, $arah, the water's fine.....show us what you've got. lmao

7:02 why do you keep pretending that Palin is going to run? Or that she is going to have to give excuses to not run? Or that you can pretend goad her to run? She isn't going to run. She has never said she was going to run and she isn't, so there is no need for these 'excuses' you think she is going to have to provide.

No doubt you think you are funny, but really you are just annoying.

"you need adult ed classes" we're all adults here, correct? a lot of the people here claim to be professional, but rather than respect others on here they post insults one would hear out of a 10 yr. old. stay on subject. kiddies.

The questions get harder during the debates. The questions get even harder during the election. The president faces the hardest questions. If Jeb can't talk to a 19 year old college student, then he really is dumber than his brother, and it's been a good act up until now. People in Florida thought that he was a good governor, but he is not presidential material. And about that governor stuff, Terri Schiavo.

Not ALL people in FL thought he was a good governor. I sure didn't. And the skelator we have now is probably worse. Never thought he would be elected once much less twice.

Very O/T but did you know Gryphen that as a demonic force you lost in this poll (where you are named) as one of the biggest destroyers of American society? Have a chuckle!

I hope the real "winner" of the poll is either of the Koch brothers or maybe both of them tied with Grover Norquist. But then the blog doing the poll is called "recovering liberal" so we know that the person/persons behind it is/are the real "destroyer[s] of American society."

"We've [I've] answered the questions now."

No, Jeb. You didn't. And don't pretend that the press is not the voice of the people. WE --the people -- want a clear and concise answer, and, if you shut us down in the future, you will pay the price. We want to hear a clear answer to the past twelve years --- we are due that. I don't care who your brother was.
If you want to be President, than explain to us why you should be.
    So far: epic failure.

Poor Debbie. And the GOP keeps accusing President Obama of being a waffler, indecisive and all the other macho things they can think of. But it's really poor tubby Jeb who changes his mind every time a different person asks the same question. What a pathetic excuse for a wannabe presidential candidate!

Wait 'til we hear about his girlfriend.
Personally, I don't care about girlfriends/boyfriends much, except when someone wants Constitutional authority, and he has to pretend that he has a loving, supportive family and there are no skeletons in his closet. There are skeletons in Jeb's closet, and they'll appear the closer he gets to the flame.
