Jim Bob Duggar was once a Senate candidate back in 2002. Wanna guess what his views were on incest and rape back then?

Courtesy of Gawker:

Jim Bob’s platform on his campaign website—preserved via web cache—states that he believes “rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.” Jim Bob offered this belief to explain his position on abortion (only acceptable if both the mother and the baby were going to die anyway, of course)

So the take away is this:

"If a woman is raped, the rapist should be executed."

And of course this:

" Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes."

Interesting. Especially considering the fact that 2002 and 2003 were the years that Jim Bob's own son Josh was committing these same "heinous crimes" against his own daughters.

And just when I thought I would never see another heretofore unimagined level of hypocrisy.

And just when I thought this picture could not get any creepier.

Josh's video of 2008 shows he doesn't take incest seriously at all. It also calls into question how remorseful he is or was at the age of 20 when the video was made.

OK, so I hate to sound ignorant but is their show cancelled? It seems I have read it is cancelled, but then I read that just Josh is cancelled.

MSN says Choice Hotels, Payless Shoes, and General Mills have all cancelled their ads on the show, but Walgreens is still undecided. What is it with Walgreens? I don't go there anymore.

Can anyone answer if the show is cancelled or not? Thanks!

    2. TLC knew what was happening with the Duggars years ago. So . . . . .No---at this time the debacle is not canceled, TLC is waiting for the divine intervention as to whether they admit the Duggars are liars and hypocrites.

    4. It's on hiatus now. TLC probably waiting to judge the fall out.

The fall out is they are losing advertisers right and left. If they can't replace them, the show has no advertising, the show doesn't make money and the show is cancelled.

I think we have finally found the magic formula. Don't bother with the networks. Follow the money and go straight to the advertisers.

It's always "off with his head" but God forbid a victim of incest and rape chooses abortion. Jim Bob better put a clothespin on Jim Bob Jr or the little missus should get a twobull. How's about putting the kids up for adoption? How much quality time can 19 kids get from two sex addicts? What quality of life is it for the victim, or the older kids who get the pleasure of raising the young kids, cleaning, washing, going to church, etc?

    Oh my.

Must read editorial at The Guardian posted this afternoon.

It's a little hard for those people to imagine life in places like NW Arkansas and Kinfucky, then there is the whole Quiverfull scheme.

Josh Duggar allegations: we're so used to giving famous men the benefit of the doubt

    http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/26/josh-duggar-allegations-famous-men-benefit-of-doubt“

News” “broke” this week that the eldest Duggar son, Josh, sexually assaulted at least five girls (four of whom were his sisters) when he was 14, allegedly sneaking into their bedrooms at night to grope them while they slept. I say “news” sarcastically because this occurred all the way back in 2002, so it’s hardly new, and I say “broke” sarcastically because the list of people who are said to have known about it this entire goddamn time apparently includes but is not limited to: Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar, an unknown number of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s church friends, at least one online commenter, an Arkansas state trooper who did not pursue the case for some strange reason and then in a totally unrelated coincidence was imprisoned for child pornography later.

And yet, as is typical, especially in insular, patriarchal religious communities, Josh’s life rolled on with little perceptible disruption – he’s now married with four children of his own, two of whom are girls, and (until he resigned this week) he was executive director of the political arm of the Family Research Council, a rightwing hate group that specialises in spreading hysteria about transgender people assaulting your children in public toilets. Josh has already been defended by rightwing Christians as high-profile as presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who called the sexual assault of five children a “mistake” made by a “good [person]”. One pastor’s wife who also subscribes to the Duggars’ “Quiverfull” movement (which, apparently, is where you pretend your nutsack is a quiver and your penis is a stout longbow and your wife is a pile of hay or rags that you shoot sperm arrows into), argued that Josh was just “playing doctor” and deserves to be “left alone to live a good life”.

It strains imagination to wonder where these supposed pillars of morality actually draw the line. (A transgender person going to the bathroom, I guess.)"

The whole thing delivers a smackdown all these inbred and/or "biblically saved" cretins deserve.

"Until last week, I had never heard of the Duggars.

Their television series, 19 Kids and Counting (the title changes with every new member of the Duggars that chugs off the production line), had, blissfully, never once entered my viewing stratosphere.

It’s a simple premise: a reality show starring parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their kids. Nine girls and ten boys, all of whose names begin with the letter “J”.

I watched a recent episode before writing this column. It was 44 minutes of my life that I will now never get back."

TLC Cuts Back '19 Kids' Web Presence
Last Friday, TLC revealed its decision to pull 19 Kids and Counting from its lineup for the foreseeable future. Since that announcement, the Duggars' web presence on the TLC website has been significantly decreased.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their children have developed a close relationship with TLC/Discovery and the 19 Kids and Counting crew since filming for the family's first special, "14 Children and Pregnant Again," began more than 11 years ago. The crew has faithfully stood by the Duggars' side through the ups and downs, and Jim Bob and Michelle have said many times that they are like family.

The network has not officially canceled the show, so there is still time to make your voices heard. We urge you to continue posting comments to our blog and to contact the TLC/Discovery Viewer Relations Department. (Click here to visit the Viewer Relations contact page.)

You can also go to the 19 Kids and Counting page, click the red "Feedback" button in the bottom right corner, select "Show or Network Feedback," and then enter your comments. As fans and viewers of the show, your opinions matter.

    1. Ah, that's why I knew Jim Bob tried politics in 2002. They were already on the air and I was already disgusted just from the commercials.

I did got to TLC trying to find out if they were canceled and noticed TLC was touting the Willis family who have multiple offspring and are the hillbilly Von Trapps. Duggars out, Willis' in. And the money keeps rolling on.

Yeah, the Duggars are going to be canceled. Because as fans and viewers of the show the network doesn't care about your fanboy panty sniffers. They care about selling advertising and no one wants to touch the Duggars with a ten foot pole. Not even with a condom on it.

Children die on farms all the time because they are operating heavy machinery at very young ages and there are no Federal regulations against it.

But I guess he is counting on Josh to carry on the family business.

    Sick sick sick.

I hope Josh's wife is keeping close tabs on him and the daughters.

BTW for some reason I remember Duggar running for office and praying to God he fail. Even then I recognized him as a right wing fundamentalist crazy.

Today a very obvious lie is exposed. Remember that TPM played a large role in exposing the US Attorney scandal that cost Alberto Gonzales his AG job.

    Reading the Duggar Police Report
    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/--100623

"The other point that jumped out at me is that the father Jim Bob pretty clearly lied to the police about sending his son to a counseling program after discovering the molestation incidents. He even went into some detail about where it was and details about it, though he claimed to have forgotten the name of the center.

That account was in an interview with Jim Bob and wife Michelle.

But when Michelle was interviewed separately at a later point in the investigation she admitted that this was not true, that rather than seeing a certified counselor or treatment program "she said [they sent Josh to] a guy they know in Little Rock that is remodeling a building."

TPM's Josh Marshall gets to what I noticed as soon as I read the report. I question whether the officers at the time realized the deception, it seems quite apparent now in retrospect. Someone might have danced with obstruction and perjury, but praise Jeebus they were able to make their escape.

Jim Bob either never knew about the Gothard operation at the former VA hospital in Little Rock, the one where the new IBLP prison outreach program was based, the one supported Governor Huckabee among others, and the one where his son spent a few months; or he was so confused he screwed up the details. Actually, how could anyone think this was but that he just straight up lied to the investigating officer?

Considering that the Duggars prominently supported and apparently used Gothard home school curriculum materials, my opinion is that this was deliberate deception.

I actually wonder if it was the name of the program that Jim Bob was attempting to disguise (“Integrity Construction Institute”). I think it is more likely that he was he trying to disguise the connection between his family and the Gothard operation of the "counseling program" Josh was farmed out to.

Why would Jim Bob think this deception was necessary?

Why didn't is wife cooperate in this deception? Or did his wife just remember some of the important details better than Jim Bob did?

Maybe Jim Bob knew that his state trooper acquaintance CPL Hutchins had started the statute of limitations without starting any investigation? Perhaps Jim Bob knew and felt both blessed and embarrassed that the statute of limitations for any criminal prosecution of his son had already run before this investigation started?

There are more names waiting to get out, including those of the church elders that accompanied Jim Bob to meet the Trooper Hutchins. Two more persons who probably were both mandatory reporters.

When this molestation happened Jim Bob and his family were living in a church owned house. They don't apparently belong to or worship in that church anymore. For some reason.

The police report also informs in some detail that Jim Bob had some significant difficulty arranging legal representation. I find that interesting too.

One more thing from the police summary:

"James said that he thought that the program was affiliated with the Little Rock Police Department since they had a station in the same building."

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

From the Mother Jones 2014 report on the Hobby Lobby Gothard connection:

"For about a decade, according to Gothard, the Institute leased the ground floor of the building for $1 per year to the Little Rock Police Department for use as its downtown station. Now, Gothard says, the police are paying a regular rental fee."

    1. Well, I can tell you why Jim Bob lied and did his best to get it suppressed (by his pervy Police friend and ultimately Huckabee.)

I seem to recall when this show was first advertised I went to the Duggar website where I learned what a quiverfull was, that they home-schooled, the schedule of "chores" the kids had, that Jim Bob was a (self proclaimed, "called") minister and that they were building a big house/compound/"church" and soliciting donations to support the "church" and themselves. Because, you know, it's expensive to have a lot of kids to feed, clothe and house, etc. So they were basically set up for tax exemption and begging. I had their number right there and never watched the show, which to me was just more begging on a grander scale. Every year or two Michelle would pop out another "J" baby and the show would change title. Disgusting.

But if all this had hit the media at the time they would have lost the show, lost the house and all that free money, etc. Probably would have had the kids taken away because Jim Bob couldn't support them without his TV show and "church" cash cow soliciting donations.

I also remember thinking at the time what a full of himself control freak this guy must be behind closed doors. Every kid named after himself. You'd think at least he'd allow the girls to have "M" names for Michelle. I wouldn't be surprised if he did hit her, at least early in the marriage before she was "trained properly".

In the mean time Republican representative Bart Hester wants the Police Chief, Kathy O'Kelly, who released the report fired. The Mayor has already determined they had to release the report to comply with the law.
