Anti-abortion activists hack Planned Parenthood.

Courtesy of The Daily Dot:

Planned Parenthood has been hacked.

Late Sunday night, a group of hackers who oppose the healthcare nonprofit's abortion practices released Planned Parenthood's website databases as well as names and email addresses of the organization's employees.

The attack on Planned Parenthood follows a storm of controversy over the organization. Anti-abortion activists sparked the uproar earlier this month with the release of an edited video showing a Planned Parenthood director discussing the donation of fetus organs and tissue to medical research facilities, a legal but highly controversial practice. “Trying to mold an atrocious monstrosity into socially acceptable behaviors is repulsive.”

One of the hackers, who goes by the pseudonym “E,” told the Daily Dot that the cyberattack was politically motivated.

“Trying to mold an atrocious monstrosity into socially acceptable behaviors is repulsive,” said E. “Obviously what [Planned Parenthood] does is a very ominous practice. It'll be interesting to see what surfaces when [Planned Parenthood] is stripped naked and exposed to the public.”

Apparently the hacker's plan is to release names of Planned Parenthood employees as well as internal e-mails to the public at large.

When first told of this hack Planned Parenthood was not aware that it had taken place, however after checking their IT workers it turned out to be true:

“Today Planned Parenthood has notified the Department of Justice and separately the FBI that extremists who oppose Planned Parenthood’s mission and services have launched an attack on our information systems, and have called on the world’s most sophisticated hackers to assist them in breaching our systems and threatening the privacy and safety of our staff members. We are working with top leaders in this field to manage these attacks. We treat matters of safety and security with the utmost importance, and are taking every measure possible to mitigate these criminal efforts to undermine our mission and services.

Planned Parenthood is the most trusted women’s health care provider in this country, and anti-abortion extremists are willing to do anything to stop women from accessing the reproductive health care they are seeking. Extremists have broken laws, harassed our doctors and patients, produced hack videos, and now are claiming to have committed a gross invasion of privacy — one that, if true, could potentially put our staff members at risk.

No matter what extremist acts those who oppose safe and legal abortion commit, the fact remains that women and men across America will still need access to basic, reproductive health care: life-saving cancer screenings, birth control, STI testing and treatment, well-woman exams, and yes, safe and legal abortion. As always, we will continue to provide that care, and serve the 2.7 million women, men and young people who rely on us each year.”

This is getting incredibly ugly.  And all of it based on carefully edited videos and debilitating ignorance.

On the plus side the recent attempt by members of the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood failed miserably.

I am a (an adult) child whose parents would never have viewed abortion as an option. I was born to poor, uneducated parents who already had more children than they could care for. My father was an alcoholic and my mother was overworked and overwhelmed.
I was raised dirt poor, sensed I was a burden to my mother, who had nothing left to give me, except discipline. I was molested by someone close to my family. I was neglected, went without healthcare, dental care, glasses, had poor hygiene, wore worn out hand me downs and often went hungry. Even though I had friends growing up, their parents viewed me as someone they didn't want their kids to hang around with.
I have spent most of my life struggling with poverty, working through the shame and embarrassment of my past and wishing my parents had never created or allowed me to exist.
I do not believe every conception is a "gift", nor do I believe that every life is worth living.
There are enough unloved, unappreciated, poor, hungry and abused children needing our care and concern. If all the self righteous, holier than thou types would personally take on the responsibility of providing for the physical and emotional needs of the unwashed masses, then I will rethink my PRO-CHOICE stance.

6:26 I didn't expect to burst into tears while reading your comment, but I did. It stung. Our lives are close to the same.

Nobody can understand how it feels unless you've lived it. It is a terrible way for a child to exist. The hurt is indescribable. The mental torment, the emotions, the terrible non-stop teasing, wishing you'd never been born and questioning why you were, all of it.

I made it through, even though for several years (age 5 to early teens I strongly thought about killing myself.) Luckily, I'm as tough as boiled owl shit. I HAD to be. I made it and you did too even though we have our scars.

All I can say to you is, If I were standing in front of you right now, you would be grabbed and experience the biggest hug you've ever had. It'd be hard to let you go. Hang in there and know that none of that was your fault. You are somebody. You are you. I DO understand how you feel. You are not alone. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, 6:59 & 8:24. 8:24, you made me tear up! I get so tired of the anti-choice people who see themselves as the protectors of innocent life. There are millions of BORN innocents suffering, but they are of no concern to those self-righteous hypocrites.

Listen . Your life, though hard, is worth it. If it makes you feel ANY better at all, my mom had only two kids. She was a stay at home mom. My dad worked a blue collar gov job with benefits. Still i was neglected ( mom slept in til noon, didnt feed us, thought we were her slave workers), i went to school with smelly clothes i dug out of the hamper. My teeth rotted out of my head.
But I was SMART. I went to college and got the fuck out of dodge. I worked since I was 12 at a paying job. My mom ahould never ever have been a mother,,, but i am glad im here now. Please strive to be glad too.

      6:26 and 8:24 -
I've spent the last 17 years working with kids in an inner city school, many of whom come from severe poverty, neglect and abuse. I mourn for them, and for you, since the challenges of growing up are daunting enough without having so many insurmountable obstacles placed in front of you.

As their daytime caretakers, we do whatever we can to help them get through. That could be clean clothing, a new toothbrush, a new book on their birthday, extra food to take home, school supplies, coats, gloves and hats. Sometimes it's just encouragement, support, and a hug when nothing else works.

There is no way we can compensate for what our children lack at home, or to ease the pain of the rejection they feel from their families, but we do the best we can. It breaks our hearts when we see small gains in stability replaced by bigger steps backward into chaos and insecurity. There are far too many children suffering in our country, and far too few resources and processes to help them.

I suspect that you, like many of the children I have seen, have developed an inner core of strength that will help you survive. You have my deepest respect for making it this far, and my sincerest hope that you will find peace and happiness in your lives.

It's clear who the domestic terrorists are, and I hope law enforcement is giving all of these clinic workers the protection they need.

Please send money to Planned Parenthood (I have no affiliation with them; I'm just a supporter). Vital women's health care -- cancer screenings, check-ups, in addition to advice and help with various forms of birth control, means that Planned Parenthood provides necessary medical help to people in all walks of life, especially poor women.
Give as much as feels comfortable -- the more donors they have at this crucial time, the stronger they'll show they are.

I'm not 7:32, but I read it. She contradicts herself multiple times. For example, women shouldn't see themselves as victims and should take control of their own sexuality and share in the responsibility when things go bad, but Monica Lewinski (an adult woman) was a poor innocent girl who needed to be protected and taken care of once the sexual relationship was revealed to the public.

Considering how much she embarrassed herself during the 2008 election, I'm surprised anyone would ask her anything anymore. But, I guess with Hilary Clinton running for POTUS now, we will be treated to a lot of Paglia anti-Hilary screeds. Maybe she'll even give a shout out to her favorite new-wave feminist, Sarah Palin.

The Real Reason Rand Paul Is So Eager To Defund Planned Parenthood

...But Paul’s eagerness to be the face of this new attempt to defund Planned Parenthood isn’t a result of a special fondness for mendacity on his part. After all, this entire campaign is built on the lie about “selling” fetal body parts, and concerns about basic honesty haven’t seemed to trouble a single Republican who wants to pander on this front. The likelier explanation is that Paul sees this as a perfect way to shore up his support with the religious right, which is typically seen as less than friendly to the libertarian wing of the Republican Party that Paul claims to speak for.

My wife worked at PP. She was an NP who had nothing to do the very small abortion part of her clinic. Never the less, she and her fellow employees were stalked, photographed and verbally harassed by the anti crowd. They took license plate numbers from cars and managed to find a "friend" at the state office who gave them names and addresses. The phone began ringing night at day for over a month filled with the ugly voices shouting uglier words and finally threatening murder. We called cops who shrugged. We changed our phone number. My neighbors were barraged with flyers at the door and under the wipers of their cars proclaiming they were harboring a killer. Outcome? They turned almost an entire city block of mostly Irish Catholics into supporting my wife and her work. Unintended consequences and a great outcome but those nearly three months were pure hell. What stopped them? The weather got cold. Warm weather protesters I guess. Eff these people and their justifying murdering anyone who doesn't happen to agree with them.
