Bernie Sanders continues to close the gap with Hillary Clinton.

Courtesy of Bloomberg:

Hillary Clinton enjoys a 19-point lead among likely Democratic caucus-goers in the key state of Iowa over her nearest challenger, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, but that advantage has shrunk 26 points since May, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

The former secretary of state gets the support of 52 percent of her party's likely caucus-goers in the state, which holds the nation's first nominating contest, while Sanders, a Senate independent and self-described socialist seeking the Democratic nomination, pulls in support from 33 percent. In May, the split was 60 percent to 15 percent.

It is the first time Clinton has received less than 60 percent support in the poll, according to assistant poll director Peter A. Brown.

I don't necessarily think Hillary should be sweating this, but she should definitely take notice.

Bernie will be in Portland, Maine on Monday. So many wanted to go that they had to move the venue to accommodate everyone.

The pendulum is finally swinging and this Country of ours is moving left. The times are changing for the better.

Hey, isn't this quitters day? Why yes, I believe it is. When the going gets tough, don't count on Sarah.

  2. If Elizabeth Warren decides to give him her support and campaign for/with him, I think Clinton has a real problem. In fact,Sanders-Warren ticket would be a dream come true. Both authentic, brilliant, and truly wanting a society for all to flourish. Warren likes her voice as Senator, but one can dream.

I imagine Elizabeth Warren will support a Democrat for the presidency. So will I.

Go Bernie!!! I'm beginning to think he's going to do to Hillary what Barack Obama did to her in 2008, UNLESS she stops trying to cover Wall Street's ass and starts unequivocally denouncing disasters like the TPP and Keystone pipeline.

For years, Bernie's been consistent in going against the grain and speaking truth to what others have always been too afraid to say out loud. What's so cool about it all is that he doesn't have to change to fit any narrative. He just has to repeat everything he's already said. Simple politics at its finest.

    He definitely has my vote!

And his votes on GITMO and co-sponsoring the government spying bill and and and.... why are people like you too scared to read his record instead of parroting his slogans? Simple minds at their finest.

Please. No old socialist without a real record of achievement will be the leader of the free world. This will become apparent during the debates when his lack of depth is discovered

I'm voting for Bernie. I can't stomach Hilary's vote for the Iraq war. I used to like Bill, until he attached his lips to Bush Sr.'s ass.

Bernie president? Never gonna happen. Our corporate overlords will never let him get anywhere near the WH. Our next president will be Clinton or Bush. Two sides of the same coin.

I think Bernie is good for Hillary. It makes her pay more attention now to us progressives. Anything that pushes her in that direction is good as far as I'm concerned.

Is Bernie Sanders Too Radical for America?

Although pegged as a fringe candidate, Sanders' views are surprisingly mainstream.

...Although socialists have run for president, and been elected to various public offices from city council to Congress, since the early 1900s, Gallup didn’t add that category of candidate to the list until this June, no doubt in recognition of Sanders’ campaign. It found that 47 percent of Americans say they would vote for a socialist for president and 50 percent say they would not. In the poll, 59 percent of Democrats, 49 percent of independents, and, perhaps surprisingly, 26 percent of Republicans say they’d vote for a socialist for president.

After more than half a century of Cold War hysteria and post-Cold War propaganda against socialism from the business and education establishments, the mainstream media, and both political parties, the fact that almost half of Americans are willing to vote for a socialist for president is quite remarkable.

  16. What I find interesting is how the media treats Sanders. They profess to be impressed by the crowds, but dismiss him as a populist, as if what a majority of Americans are concerned about has little currency. Only the mumbo jumbo of "real" candidates is to be taken seriously.

Why do so many Americans believe Sanders has no chance of winning the nomination? Because we know elections are bought and paid for by the wealthy. They set the agenda, they determine the issues, and legislation.

Sometimes the stars align and something crazy happens, such as the election of a black president. To be sure, the power brokers have done their level best to make his presidency rough. And I lump chickensh*t democrats among them. Far too many have failed to stand with him when he needed their support.
Bottom line, that ain't the way it was supposed to be.

So Sanders will be labeled as radical, a kook, too old, too inexperienced, too this, too that--too populist.

And that's too bad, because he's the only candidate discussing ideas that are important to me.
