President Obama: "I think if I ran again, I could win."

Courtesy of CNN:

President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he could win a third term in office if he ran again but that he is barred by the Constitution.

"I think if I ran again I could win. But I can't!" Obama said.

Obama's quip came during a speech to the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the first address to the group by a U.S. president.

Damn you can almost hear the conservative heads exploding at this very thought.

But you know what? He's right!

There is not one of the current crop of GOP presidential hopefuls that are worthy to lick this man's shoes, much less replace him in office.

And I think he would handily beat both Hillary or Bernie as this point as well.

Kinda makes you secretly wish somebody would change the term limit doesn't it?

Or is that just me?

As a Constitutional scholar, and as a decent man, Obama would never do it.
But he's having fun trolling these pinheads. Then they can direct all their bile onto him, instead of Biden, Clinton, or Bernie.

Oh YES, visit any RW site and they're whining "martial law is on its way!" Don the tin foil hats, everyone.

He would be elected again in a heartbeat, and quite likely by a bigger landslide than the last two elections.

Jade Helm 15 is over and unfortunately for the rest of the country they didn't round up all the Texans and put them in FEMA camps in the basements of their WalMarts. Darn it Obama.

Thank you, Shari! I know I would probably cartwheel all the way to the voting booth if I could cast a third vote for him as POTUS!

The Constitution was changed because Republicans didn't want to get another fabulous President like FDR, who controversially won four times. If he hadn't died, who knows what would have happened?

In the long run, though, this Amendment, which followed the pattern set by Geo. Washington when he left office after two terms, protects us from the possibility of a dictatorship, or the use of corporate money to keep their puppet perennially in the White House.
So, as much as we need a third-term President Obama, he will make his mark in other ways. In January, 2017, he'll be only 55 years old! He has decades to affect change in this country and the world, in his own way. Much more like Jimmy Carter than the sticky-fingered Clintons.

I think that's a bit unfair to the Clintons. Hillary has worked extremely hard for the country since 2000, as US Senator from New York, as Secretary of State, and now as a potential presidential candidate. Bill Clinton has done a lot of good for a lot of people. He's not sitting back in Texas finger painting and charging exorbitant speaking fees to veterans' groups like George W.

Or like Geo. W. Bush and his father, who charge outrageous fees to give speeches. They feather their nests, rather than work toward the good of the country.

    Ronald Reagan did the same.

Gerald Ford was the most honest president we've had in a long time.

Ford may have been honest, but no one holds a candle to Jimmy Carter, who lives his values every day, and whom the right despises. I never understand that.

Agreed, 5:08 PM, and I expect President Obama to do the same. His detractors always say his appearances in the community are for photo ops only. I beg to differ; he could have really changed things had he not been thwarted from the time of that secret meeting Inauguration Night 2009.

      Ha Ha,

If he was so honest then why did he pardoned Nixon? and if Nixon was innocent of crimes then why did Ford need to pardon him.

      Ford was anything but honest.

The country couldn't have taken much more of the Watergate criminals and the unindicited co-conspirator. It had to end and a healing process begin to take place.

Gerald Ford paid all the taxes that he had to pay. He's the only president (except, perhaps, BHO), who did that throughout his life.

I never understood term limits. If they want to run and the people elect them again, then that is democracy at work and thats fine. The problem is the MONEY and the fact that one billionaire can personally sponsor a candidate and overwhelm the process with dark money.

Term limits were a Republican achievement, to get rid of FDR- who died anyway.

Seems they should be called the wrong-wing, not the right wing, for they turn themselves inside out to be wrong, and esp. lately with their nemesis, a black man (!), as POTUS.

Yup. The GOP was afraid that another Democratic president who was elected three times (let alone four) would bring about even more good social policies. Roosevelt hoped that the US, in postwar years, would adopt universal health care. Something we all know the GOP hates the very thought of.

Not really, what would have happened if the Supreme Court had a chance to appoint George W for a third term?

I totally agree with President Obama. He could very well be elected again if it were legally OK to serve three terms. He's done a hell of a job in spite of all the Republicans trying to negate everything he has accomplished.

The Republicans have screwed up their party and have horrible candidates in the 'clown car for 2016! Hillary Clinton will be elected POTUS which will mean another eight years of Democratic power. Assuredly sounds more than good to me!

I loved his whole speech. He talked slow and meaningful, who cares about the "uhs" that he is disparaged for. I thought his explanation of Republicans, Democrats, and the challenges he faces to lead this country and reach out to the world were spot on.

(New e-mail from SarahPAC from earlier tonight...)

    Dear

Thousands have joined us in the outrage over Planned Parenthood selling aborted baby body parts. To ensure Planned Parenthood is defunded of federal tax dollars, we must continue to elect conservative leaders with strong pro-life values.

Recently we endorsed 43 pro-life candidates, each of whom will work and try to ensure federal tax dollars are not used to fund the atrocities seen in the recent videos exposing Planned Parenthood. With your donation we can arm these candidates and make sure Planned Parenthood stops receiving tax dollars.

We support conservative candidates who will end the use of tax dollars to fund Planned Parenthood. Donate today to support conservative leaders who will defund Planned Parenthood.

All life matters and with your support we can end this practice that kills hundreds of thousands of Americans who were never given the chance to be free.

    Regards,

    SarahPAC

Gryph, it's not just you. I wish I could vote for him again and would in a heartbeat. With those words, he trolled the entire clowncar from another continent, the entire speech was fantastic. I'm so pleased that he plans to continue to help the people of Africa after his term is up.
I think history will be more than kind to all he's accomplished not just for our country, but the planet and the world.

  16. I'd vote for him a 3rd, but he knows better than us the Constitution doesn't allow it. However, as I've said before, I'd be more than happy with Supreme Court Justice Barack Obama :)

I'm sorry that I am going off topic folks. I have done some interesting research on the Bush family and I want to share it with you. The Bush family has been on a PR offensive to try to clean up their image for Jeb! campaign.

I read a NY Times article on Barbara Bush, daughter of GW and Laura, who started a charity to help Africa. The article called her "the liberal of the family". I thought, huh, the Bush family is not known for starting charities, so I looked into it.

Barbara Bush is CEO of Global Health Corp, and her website lists 24 staff and even a personal assistant to her. It's basically a slush fund, with her parents friends money, and she lives in NYC. All her Yale friends work for the charity, which only places 150 Fellows in Africa. It has high expenses, with low returns, just like all Republican charities.
You can find the NY Times article here:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/26/opinion/sunday/nicholas-kristof-a-millennial-named-bush.html?_r=0

The charity is too new, so not listed on Charity Navigator. So I Googled it, and lo and behold, another charity, started by Dr. Vanessa Kerry, named Global Health Service Corp came up. It's a real charity, partnered with the Peace Corps, with highly qualified medical personnel, placing doctors and nurses in Africa.

The only thing that separates the two charity names is the word SERVICE, so they could easily be confused, which is what Barbara Bush is hoping for!

So I looked into Dr. Kerry's charity, and I found out they recently changed their name! I wonder why???? Because Barbara Bush tried to piggy back on their successful name with her bullshit slush fund! Here is Dr. Kerry's charity, now named Seed Global Health:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seed_Global_Health

The Bush family is so full of shit, I can't stand them. If you have time, look at Dr. Kerry's resume and her work. She is amazing. Barbara Bush is just another Bush loser who tried to steal Dr. Kerry's good work. What a shameful family, I hope they don't get anywhere near the White House again.
The Bush family did this to Vanessa Kerry as a final FU to John Kerry. Check it out if you have time.

I was furious to find out back in 2006 that Barbara (the first one) 'donated' money to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund - BUT - with requirements that it be used to purchase specific educational software...sold by her son Neil.

She got credit for her generous donation but it all went right back into the family bank account.
