You KNOW you are a great man when even the fast food restaurant that you endlessly ridiculed is sorry to see you go.
I cannot believe I have to face Monday with no Daily Show waiting for me at the end of it.
P.S. Were as you blown away by Colbert's cameo last night as I was?
The Colbert tribute was my favorite part of the show, actually. But seeing all those former cast members all together was great too. All in all, an awesome final show for a guy who changed American culture for the better. Every damn night!
ReplyDeleteOT. have you seen this?"One of America’s highest earning athletes, Arian Foster, has come out as an atheist."
ReplyDeleteThat Arby's tribute was hilarious. Colbert's "thank you" made tears fall from my eyes.
ReplyDeleteYes! One could hear the gratitude and sincerity in Colbert's words to Stewart. They both will be greatly missed. I wish them and their families well.
DeleteMe too, sobbing now, and it started with the Arby's note; laughing and crying at the same time. I'm a mess!
DeleteDVRed it, can't wait to watch it. I just feel so sad.....as if someone slashed my vocal cords. There will never be another like him. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteThere side gave us the likes of Rush, O'Reilly and Levin. We gave back with Jon Stewart, Colbert and Maher. Seems somebody owes us a big "Thank you"!
ReplyDeleteJon's final commentary on "bullshit" jogged my memory back to my early teens, when I was a bus boy in a busy Italian restaurant. Up front was the piano bar, where a grizzled old jazz pianist ground out the hits in a cloud of smoke. He would often pass me on his breaks, as he'd head back to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, always telling me, "Just remember, kid, it's ALL BULLSHIT."

ReplyDeleteAfter 17 seasons as host, Jon Stewart said farewell to The Daily Show desk. Send your goodbye to Jon using #JonVoyage.
When my daughters were in high school, they used the Daily Show to keep up on current events....we all loved it. Living in NJ I took off work 4 times to see the show in person, sitting on the sidewalk for hours hoping for a seat....so well worth the wait. We had to rush home to see that show the same night, what fun. During the wait we caught Lewis Black during a smoke break, chased Steve Carell walking away and Stephen Colbert going to work, all giving autographs. We even got a Jon blue sheet autograph during the warm up...so many years ago. If you have kept up with all the interviews and commentary its is plain to see the general state of our politics simply wore him down, how covering Fox and massive decline in our media in general was like the holes in a dyke without enough help to plug them all. The election of a black man...an extraordinary black man ripped the band aid off an open wound and the crud seeped out and took hold. MSNBC is failing us with their disgraceful changes, guess its time to forget TV till next year. Jon leaving is like losing a best friend....moving to a farm in NJ sounds like heaven and he sure deserves the break from bullshit mountain.
ReplyDeleteI tivo'ed it, just couldn't bare to say good bye. Watching MSNBC's Tribute, "Jon Stewart has left the Building", with smiles through tears, perhaps the best tribute one can muster when words aren't adequate.
