When the bipartisan advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran decided last week to mobilize opposition against the nuclear deal with Tehran, Gary Samore knew he could no longer serve as its president.
The reason: After long study, Mr. Samore, a former nuclear adviser to President Obama, had concluded that the accord was in the United States’ interest.
“I think President Obama’s strategy succeeded,” said Mr. Samore, who left his post on Monday. “He has created economic leverage and traded it away for Iranian nuclear concessions.”
It seems that the more people actually take a look at this deal the more likely they are to support the President and his dealings with Iran.
And fuck Chuck Schumer for putting politics ahead of our national interest.
By the way do you know who is going to be replacing Mr. Samore as the head of United Against Nuclear Iran?
This guy.
Not exactly a surprise considering that John McCain considered him so in line with his way of thinking that he wanted to tap him as his VP, instead of this lunatic.
That may be the last good thing he did for our President, and this country.
I love how our President just ignores her.....
ReplyDeleteMe too. I bet he knew exactly what was going on while pretending not to notice. Ol' Joe was protecting his good buddy, McCain preventing the President from learning firsthand what everyone suspected, PayMe is NUTS.
DeleteNaahhh...in order for him to ignore her, she'd have to be on the radar. Skank-ass bitch is beneath his attention and it's slowly made her more and more insane because no matter what vile shit she spews about him (and Michelle), she will never make him sink to her level and acknowledge her disgusting self. He made one epic joke about her at a press dinner and then forgot her existence again. She can't stand it! lol
DeleteHUH? The guy who is going to replace Mr. Samore as the head of United Against Nuclear Iran placed second behind Sarah Palin for the Republican Party nominee for vice-president?
ReplyDeleteThe Republican Party point blank said Sarah Palin is smarter than Joe Lieberman.
Knowing how ignorant Sarah Palin is, Joe Lieberman can't hold a candle to Sarah Palin.
Joe Lieberman, the man who is inferior to the laughing stock beauty pageant contestant Miss Wasilla will head up the bipartisan advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran? Whatever!
>>The Republican Party point blank said Sarah Palin is smarter than Joe Lieberman.
DeleteNo. They didn't. They twisted McCain's arm to get the evangelical vote which they wouldn't have gotten with Lieberman being Jewish. Lieberman was also pro-choice in his voting record, and that didn't fly with the christianists, either. So they tracked down Sarah, she faked her pregnancy so she could appear severely pro-life by not aborting a DS kid. They also thought she could be a stand in for Hillary just because she had a vagina. Clearly, all that backfired, and we are so lucky it did, but as far as your statement I noted above, nope, nada, no way, you're wrong.
...Overall Lieberman has a pro-choice voting record, and in 2007 he received a grade of 100 from the abortion rights organization NARAL Pro-Choice America.

No matter what his politics may be, I am forever indebted to Senator Lieberman for cock-blocking the fuckin' moron from even getting close to President Obama! Look at the stupid bitch; she has that star-struck junior high look of glee on her ugly mug! It's the same retarded look she sported when she shirked her duties, lied to the Pimp Toad, and skipped out to go ogle over The Donald's ex! All these years later, the fuckin' imbecilic retard is still stuck in junior high mode!

DeleteI live in CT and I could never stand him. Besides that he was the senator from Israel, not my state, and he sounded just like Willy Tanner on Alf.
DeleteBut do we really know if she stopped with Lieberman that night? I’ve never seen anything about whether she actually shook Obama’s hand.
DeleteNo she did not.
DeleteLieberman turned her away.
Not only did she NOT get to accost President Obama, he mocked her sorry ass and she never got to speak at the dinner at all. Everyone was laughing at her and I'm sure she doesn't forget how he exposed her in front of some of the biggest movers and shakers in DC for the idiot she is:
Delete"Good to see Gov. Palin here. I never expected to see you paling around in this crowd," Obama said in a wry reference to Palin's charging during the campaign that Obama had been "paling around with terrorists.
After a good-natured laugh from the audience, he added, "Congratulations on your Golden Globe for '30 Rock'." That was a salute to "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" star Tina Fey, whose Palin imitations turned out to be one of the campaign's unlikeliest highlights.

I don’t care what a few admirals and generals believes in.
ReplyDeleteI'm siding with John McCain's pick for the 2008 Republican Party Vice-Presidential nominee.
If Sarah Palin is worthy of being an old man's heartbeat away from the presidency and the nuclear button, then Sarah Palin’s word is gold.
If John McCain believes in Miss Wasilla then so should the United States of America.
Internet:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin warned Saturday that President Barack Obama is a "president flirting with the devil" over the Iran nuclear treaty and called on congressional Republicans to exercise its "constitutional right and responsibility" to approve such agreements.
"Our president and his anti-peace foreign policy supporters have not acted in the interest of our ally, Israel, resulting in dangerously compromised American interests," the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said on her Facebook page.
Some of the best snark I've seen in awhile. Good job on exposing how ignorant she is with her hyperbolic bullshit.
DeleteDamn straight she's still in junior high mode! Both Brancy and she are still pouncing on Red State today. Sophomor-onic sh*t!
ReplyDeleteThat bitch just can't let anything go!
DeleteShe shows the same level of excitement to accost the president as she did when the president of France called her..haha
ReplyDelete...The most likely explanation for Schumer’s behavior is that he has been influenced by the implacable opposition to the deal by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Schumer, Lowey, Brad Sherman and other Jewish Democrats who oppose President Obama seem oblivious to the fact that Likud propagandists have tried to create a radically different definition of the phrase “pro-Israel” from what it meant in the first half-century after the war against the Nazis.
ReplyDeleteFor decades, the defining “pro-Israel” issues at the congressional level were foreign aid and military support to help defend Israel. For many Americans, especially Jews like my dad, there was a powerful post-Holocaust obligation to the Jewish people. Israel also supported American goals in the Cold War and in the oil economy.
But after Netanyahu became prime minister, he tried to transform the definition of pro-Israel to include a much larger influence of the overall foreign policy of the United States, a radical departure from previous Israeli regimes. This became vividly clear during the debate leading up to the Iraq War. American acolytes of Netanyahu and his party were stridently supportive of President Bush in pursuit of that disastrous mistake.

Why am I not surprised that Joe Lieberman is taking over that group, since, at times he put the interests of Israel ahead of those of this country. Kind of like what Schumer is doing. I read where an argument against Kennedy in 1960 was that he would take his marching orders from the pope. Who is Schumer taking orders from? And that picture includes two of the worst VP picks ever.

ReplyDeletePresident Obama has a liberal firewall in the House of Representatives as Nancy Pelosi has kept her Democrats together, and they are ready to deliver total victory for the president on the Iran deal.
ReplyDelete...There will be a great deal of media generated wringing of hands and speculative coverage of the Iran deal resolution vote, but the unless House Democrats budge, Obama wins no matter what else happens.
The president is well on his way towards achieving a major victory for peace, as House Democrats are signaling that they’ve got Obama’s back.

Liberals Have Obama’s Back as Al Franken Supports Iran Deal
Liberals have President Barack Obama’s back on the Iran deal, as Senator Al Franken (D-MN) came out in strong support of it in an op-ed published Thursday on CNN. Count Franken as a yes vote for sanity.
Franken writes that he didn’t come to this conclusion lightly, “Since the deal was announced, I’ve consulted with nuclear and sanctions experts inside and outside government; Obama administration officials, including Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz; ambassadors from the other countries that negotiated alongside us; advocates for Israel on both sides of the issue; my constituents in Minnesota; and, of course, my colleagues in the Senate.”
The Democratic Senator explained that the deal isn’t perfect, but he called it “strong”, saying it is “the most effective, realistic way to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon anytime in the next 15 years.”
Franken addressed some of the criticism of the deal which has inaccurately claimed that President Obama is just “trusting” Iran.

I think America did a huge double take with the duplicitous invitation to Netanyahu to criticize our President from the congressional floor. Then Tehran Tom and 46 others followed that with the odious letter to Iran.
ReplyDeleteMany Americans started to pay much closer attention and did not like Netanyahu trying to control our foreign policy. Our support was set. The two actions above were a total backfire and will result in a win for diplomacy.
POLL: American Jewish Support for Iran Deal Exceeds Support Among General Population
ReplyDeleteAmerican Jewish support for an agreement with Iran exceeds support for the deal among the general US population, according to a new poll.
American Jews express strong support for a final agreement with Iran that increases inspections in exchange for economic sanctions relief. Fifty-nine percent say they would support such a deal, compared to 53 percent of American adults in an April CNN poll that asked the same question.

I can't find a video on the last pic of Lieberman blocking Palin.
ReplyDeleteIs there one???
I'm not sure there is a video, but she sure had her sites set on the President:
Delete...laska Gov. Sarah Palin said she will attend an exclusive club dinner in Washington this weekend because it will offer her an audience with President Obama.
In an impromptu meeting with reporters Wednesday outside the governor's mansion, Palin also detailed reasons why she's started her own political action committee and laughed off suggestions that she's in line for an $11 million book deal.
Palin said she is participating in outside events, like this weekend's Alfalfa Club dinner, strictly to promote Alaska's interests as its governor.
"The Alfalfa dinner, yes, in fact that's because President Obama is scheduled to be there," Palin said. "And how often will I have an opportunity to have dinner with the president? I will take up that offer to do so."

Another reason (The Deal with Iran) that we should count our blessings that Obama has been our President, instead of McCain + Palin and Romney + Paul Ryan… Ugh!
ReplyDeleteWe would NEVER have gotten this far with Iran, nor arrived at a Deal that involved 6 countries. Republicans would have squandered the opportunity and negotiated foolishly. They would have been obstinate in the negotiations, they would have exasperated the other countries, resulting in them saying: USA please LEAVE the room! Please. Go Home!
Anyway, here we are. No thanks to Republicans, Bibi Netanyahu (the Republican’s consigliere) and the Schumer’s in the Democrat’s tent.
Take a bow Obama and Kerry and the rest of our team. No matter what imposition the Republicans and Israel come up with, this thing is a go. Success. The other countries should be breathing a sigh of relief.
In the U.S., support for Israel has been robust from both the Republicans and Democrats. Netanyahu is making a big mistake to make support for Israel a partisan issue in American politics. By taking sides in the bitter Democrat-Republican divide, he is causing many former firm supporters of Israel to reassess that position. It won’t happen overnight, but in the years to come, U.S. support for Israel is going to wane and it will trace back to Netanyahu taking sides in U.S. politics.
ReplyDeleteThis deal is going into effect whether they like it or not; Israel and the Republicans cannot stop it. So to waste so much political capital fighting a deal you can’t stop by taking sides in partisan U.S. politics is a huge strategic mistake by Netanyahu that will cost Israel dearly in the years to come.
I wish that US politicians and media folk would accept that this is an agreement between five major countries, one of which is the US, and Iran. It is not an agreement with or against Israel. I also wish that US politicians and media folk would admit publicly that Israel has had nuclear weapons for many years and has refused to take part in any nonproliferation agreements.

This is only one more instance of the Republicans’ proclivity toward supporting the wrong causes or being on the wrong and ultimately losing side of so many issues. They tried to undermine this president with the signing of a letter in support of the international rogue leading Israel by 47 GOP senators. That alone spoke volumes about their disrespect for President Obama with their inclination to support leaders of other countries over him, like Putin in recent years. They are once again getting the taste of egg in their faces, along with being publicly contradicted by world scientists and former American generals. Even worse for them, they had no satisfactory alternative to avoid war with Iran.

If the US pulls out of the agreement, the remainder of the negotiating nations will lift their sanctions and happily do business with Iran, the USA will become even more of an international pariah than it is right now, and the position of the dollar as the preferred reserve currency may be jeopardized.

...Iran wants to be seen as a legitimate nation, and we should welcome that at some point. The Iranian people have done nothing wrong; it’s their leadership that’s corrupt. That’s why I like the fact that the JCPOA doesn’t rely on trust. It assumes they’ll try to cheat, and there are safeguards in the agreement to prevent that.
This agreement is a great thing for the United States and the entire world. It wasn’t negotiated by the Obama Administration; China, Russia, the UK, France, Germany and the EU were all part of the negotiations, so this isn’t another case of the United States “policing” the world. It is everyone making sure that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon, which is good for everyone.

I have a question about the photo of Palin getting close to Obama.
ReplyDeleteWas he already elected when this was taken?
How come the secret service let her get that close to him after all the hate filled remarks she made during the campaign? Her smirking while the crowd chanting kill him comes to mind.
As for Iran, I don't think we could get a better deal and I don't understand what the problem is. Seems like the rethugs have it all backwards. If this deal doesn't go though Iran is free to start making the bomb immediately. If it does go though it will be years before they can make the bomb and a lot can happen in that time. So what is their problem, other than it is part of their we hate Obama campaign.
Bibi is spending a lot of money to spread lies here in the US, I have seen the ads for a few weeks on television-fear mongering. If Iran wanted to, they could have taken out Israel long time ago, like after Israel bombed their nuclear facility years ago.
The photo was taken at the Alfalfa Club Dinner in 2009. And Obama nailed her in his remarks.
Delete"Good to see Gov. Palin here. I never expected to see you paling around in this crowd," Obama said in a wry reference to Palin's charging during the campaign that Obama had been "paling around with terrorists.

Delete...Obama arrived at Washington’s American University, the place where, 50 years before, John F. Kennedy delivered a definitive speech on the importance of diplomacy in solving the Cuban missile crisis. At the very beginning of his speech, Obama was already up on his high horse, but as he went on he gave a rare and highly impressive, persuasive, often brutal show that included numerous barbs and jibes at Netanyahu, as well as several caresses. One by one, Obama analyzed Netanyahu’s arguments and smashed them into tiny pieces. He cut Netanyahu no slack, neither for his dramatic declarations against the interim agreement with Iran, nor for the rest of his alarmist warnings that nobody else in the world takes seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe power of the president’s arguments lies in the fact that he didn’t try to present the agreement with Iran as ideal. He recognized its weak points, but he stressed and explained that there is no alternative and that this agreement is the best and only available option. For the umpteenth time Obama emphasized that he would not permit Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and that this position would be held by every subsequent American president.
